Cass Elliott is the best. She's one of the people I wish I had met in life.

Cash Elliot was so talented, intelligent and a really good spirit. Her life was cut way too short.

Mama Cass, Hot Lips Houlihan, Oscar Madison and Killian all on the same game show panel. Gotta love the '70s.

In July 1974 Cass was on the Mike Douglas Show and hauntingly ,she stated that she would be turning 33 in September

Cass was really good at the game. Fun to have around.

People kept saying Cass choked on a sandwich, but her death was a heart attack, she was only 33 when she died a year after this was shown.

What's eerie is that she died in the same bed in a flat in London owned by fellow singer/songwriter friend Harry Nilsson where The Who's drummer Keith Moon would die in 1978 at the age of 40, although he accidentally ODed, which surprised no one as he was a hardcore substance abuser. But poor Cass had heart disease, in part due to crash diets, and was not thought to have been of the "live fast, die young" mentality.

annika Keith Moon died from an overdose of Heminevrin a drug used to aid his withdrawal from alcohol. He was an alcoholic and not a known drug addict.

She was 32! It was told out of jealousy and evil !!!!! This was cleared up about a year after her passing FYI. !

I'll say it was a good week. Mama Cass ("Dream A Little Dream For Me") Elliott, married couple (at the time) Brett and Jack, the classy Bill Cullen and Loretta Swit...oh, and did I mention Richard (who was on every episode until they changed the set, brought in the Star Wheel, and "Family Feud" became the big hit it was). :)

I was very surprised when Richard Dawson made one, because he clearly liked her and was usually such a charmer. It just slipped out, I guess, and he apologized to her right away. I think he said to the audience something like "If you don't [stop booing her?], she'll come and sit on the front row."

This is a great episode, I am binge watching to escape from covid B.S.

Per Wikipedia, "Four years later, The Who's drummer Keith Moon died in the same flat at the same age." as Cass Elliott. Spooky.

I like how they treat the contestants like a necessary evil rather than the focus of the game.

Not always - it depends on who's on the panel and how drunk and/or slap-happy they are that day. Oftentimes they'll try to think of what the contestant would say based on what little they've gleaned about his or her personality or from previous responses.

@@sdlively27It was the '70s-drinking was more acceptable, and I think that the party atmosphere was encouraged by the show's producers. All of the articles I've read said that Richard-along with many of the other panelists-drank on the show (mainly backstage) but he never lost control and was so brilliant that he always had his wits about him, and what a wit he was! Such a sharp and sexy fella. A cherished TV legend and an admirable individual (a Civil Rights activist in the 1960s for one thing). If I drank, I'd propose a toast.😉🥂

Supposedly Bill Cullen had polio and when he hosted various game shows, he wouldn't walk to the podium or whatever, he was always sitting when the show began, but he was a very pleasant guy and a really good host.

I don't think Bill Cullen was at all ashamed of his limp when he walked. It was the game show and network producers who were, worried about making Bill look bad.

The ladies (especially Brett) seemed to like Bill Goldstein. All the contestants tended to be eye candy.

Probably a bit of both. While they separated shortly after this, Brett was always like this to other panelists. It was her schtick. Jack and Brett apparently loved each other even after separation; according to their son, they just couldn't live together.

Mama Cass was always pretty cool and she had a great sense of humor, she is most definitely a hippie. Hard to believe she died 40 years ago, she looked pretty good there. Jack and Brett split up after being married, but Jack never divorced her and never married again after breaking up with her. Brett passed away first too

I've heard of them, the thing is, a person can gain more weight being a vegetarian than being a meat eater. Things like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice have more calories than chicken or fish.

I remember hearing the word "pregnant" on the show "Family" from Kristy McNichol, and I remember my mother made a "stir" about the word, and this would have been in about 1975. So, I think they were already saying the word by the early 70's, but that's a good point though!

I always loved this show..but you know damn well they knew what questions would be used and mama cass would be on the show...I never heard a fat question before but now when shes guest starring,you know she had a lump in her throat...she had feelings...this was cruel and pure Hollywood! SMH!

That is a myth. She was on a stringent weight loss regimen, fasting 4 days/week, and died of heart failure or heart attack. There was a sandwich by her bed, but that was not a cause.
