My great grandfather Ross Dennington was born in Roaring Springs and worked on the Matador; his wife Ellen Blakely Dennington was born in Afton and was the bunkhouse cook on the Matador. My grandmother Lura Dennington Redden was born on the Matador.
Murdo Mackenzie was my great, great, great grandfather.
I hauled for the Matador for many many years. First for Porter out of Dickens Texas when I was working for R.L. Burgess. then for Andy Taylor, and finally for Carroll Cattle. The best hauling I ever got from them was hauling cattle from the Yellow House at Littlefield Texas to Eureka Kansas
My mother was borne on the Matador ranch in I believe 1913 . I would love to spend my last days there . I'm a pretty good c of cowboy yet .
I'm glad to see that they are caring the Mexican heritage.

Has been split and sold sadly.
It's a punchy look for the hats being that way
What is with these big stupid cocked up hats that everyone wears nowdays ? Walk into a cattle camp with one of these on your head in the good old days and the old timers would laugh you off the camp.
