Matador Dave is awesome. Been running mine with an OMEGA 9K........prolly at least 2000 rds of subsonic. No problems.
I had never heard of Matador arms until your last video on this one. Seems like a JAKL 9mm before PSA makes one. Of course the PSA upper is like $649 at the cheapest and it requires their $100 adapter. This seems like a good option if the quality is there.
It's basically a copy of the grand power stribog upper. I'm pleased to hear that it runs well on colt mags though!

IIRC, the bolt is significantly heavier than the GP. Could be wrong.
Great to see you back!!!!

Thanks!
I have one and run it on a NFA lower for CZ mags. I plan on polishing the feed ramp because of failure to feed issue.
Great video! I'm hoping it holds up long term because it looks like a great upper.

Same here! Thanks!
Wow so cool they sent to you. Your detailed review sold me. Subbed
I think you missed a feature: by assembling the bolt in reverse position you could implement safety in this pcc while you gone for like a vacation or something. I think it’s pretty cool and could make this gun inoperable without removing any major components.

Good point!
Bought two of these. One black one fde. Neither will work with the PSA AV9. The bolt catch is to high. Removed. It still will not fit. Because magazine is to high. Then there is the tall feed ramp that also prevents these to be used on PSA AV9 Lower at all. Not even close enough to modify. The PSA AV9 is absolute junk. Don't know how the two Matador 9 uppers work. I don't plan on putting them on anything else
Lusting after one of those.
Killer upper!
Do you see brass on the bottom of your bolt after firing?
If you have an NFA S-9 or know how to modify a PSA AK-V lower… or can have one worked on at a shop.

I believe it says on their product page that this upper will work with MP5 and Scorpion mag lowers.
Will it work with an binary trigger or frt?
Is there a buffer less ar45 upper out there?
I was thinking of picking up the Mat 9 upper for use on my Aero EPC9 lower. Would it be plug and play or would I have to mess with my Aero ejector?

I have had to adjust the ejector on every single lower. It seems the manufacturers may purposely make them a little low/left to avoid dragging on the bolt, since they have no idea what bolt/upper may be paired with their lower.
Did you weight the bolt and weight? Thanks for reviewing
@Blowback9

Yes - bolt+weight is about 21oz.
Cool concept but it’s Toy’ish. I like the SBR concept on 9mm with a stock folder. Also, I like to see 9mm SBR on the heavier side in the stock end. A magpul UBR or ASC-L with the folder add the needed weight to greatly reduce felt-recoil.

For being such a fairly new product, it runs really well. I'm sure it will become more refined as the design matures. Time will tell!
How heavy is the bolt? Do you think it could be made heavier?
@Blowback9

Mine was 20.8oz. I don't think it could be made heavier by the end user.
This question is kind of off topic but what brand hollow point will most likely feed in my AR9 build? The upper is a Right To Bear. I will be using Endomag inserts. Thank You.

Hornaday Critical Defense/Critical Duty. The pointed tip and rubber plug in the hollow point allow it to feed in most barrels that will feed FMJ, regardless of the feed cone.

@@Blowback9. Great! I will try those. Thank you very much for getting back to me. I’m learning a lot about the AR9s through your videos.
Great 👍🏼
These are really good uppers. Unfortunately they went with a proprietary barrel .

I think it was necessary based on their monolithic upper design.
So how is the recoil impulse on this? Say, compared to a standard blowback AR9.
@Blowback9

To me it feels better than a standard AR9.
@singlo7453

Felt Slightly heavier but smoother. AR9 seems much more snappier.
How’s the recoil , compared to the gentle recoil system?
@Blowback9

Not as gentle as the GRS, but not bad. Better than a stock AR9 with standard buffer.
Will it fit a lower that uses scorpion evo mags?
@Blowback9

It says on their product page that it will.
Does this work with Stribog lower?

I don't think so. It's made for AR lowers.
