Mastrena 2 Starbucks New Espresso Machine

My store finally got the new espresso machine: Mastrena 2!!! The espresso taste richer, the wand steamer gives the milk a thinker feel, and it’s twice as fast than Mastrena 1. As a partner, this makes my barista experience easier but with high volume of customers, this helps me make more drinks.

    Wow, amazing video. Why is the flow of espresso intermittent though (the one at my local starbucks has a uniform flow rate). Could you please post a video of pulling a double shot ristretto (thanks in advance!)

    I have so many questions...... What's cleaning like? Tabs? Same one as the regular mastrena? Different? Shot times? Temps? What's the general upkeep of a beauty like the 2? Liscened location is getting one tomorrow

    I work at Starbucks and to answer your questions Yes it uses tabs, we are required to run tabs through it every night or the machine will automatically turn off the next day and require a clean in order to work. Shot times, I haven’t counted but it’s around 15 seconds for a single shot only problem is that it does often pour bad shots and it will tell you on the screen so you don’t have to worry about being able to tell (all though most people can just tell by looking at the shot) but you just have to re brew the shot. The machines are auto calibrated too. Temps for milk I’m assuming is what you are asking. The regular setting is 160 degrees iirc and it can go up to 190 degrees. Upkeep is pretty simple from what I’ve been told grant it I’m just a barista and don’t have to worry about that kinda stuff. But from what I’ve seen they are fairly reliable and don’t require much up keep.

    Pressing the extra hot button on a mastrena 2 will eventually burn the milk

    Larger bubbles occurs when the protein structures in the milk have already become rigid which occurs at 100 deg . In short you can have perfect temp milk and big bubbles or scalded milk that looks great
