Masters of the Universe Origins LORD GR'ASP Figure Review!

Review of the Masters of the Universe Origins LORD GR'ASP figure that is part of the Snakemen Faction and was inspired by vintage concept design in the 80s and was supposed to part of the MOTU vintage Powers of Grayskull series but it was never produced because the Vintage line ended. I also show some parts swapping and comparisons.
This figure and brand is made by MATTEL TOYS.

G'Day The Man Child, Excellent Review. At first I felt that I might not be interested in this figure with the mix match of parts, But Mattel has done a good job of creating the look of Lord Gr'asp. Thanks for showing Reptilax and Snake Trooper with mixed matched heads. There do look good with swapped heads. Cheers.

Thanks for stopping in once again to check out another review! I think Lord Gr'asp is another fun figure that is just once again mixed parts from other MOTU figures like a lot of these variants. But put a little paint, different packaging and new character story. And now you have a cool looking figure. Of coarse you can always customize or paint little things as I mentioned or showed in the review. Yeah I'm was happy to show those other parts swapping combinations with the Reptilax head in this review! Thanks for all your support 👌

Thanks for stopping in to check out the review! It's really interesting how cool this figure is even though he is just more reused parts with new paint and a story. I think he looks really good with the colors and parts they went with, and he feels like a whole other figure! It's awesome you made 3d parts and used a Jurassic Park Dinosaur to make that figure. I looked at some of those J P figures at Target One and thought they would make a good MOTU powers of Grayskull Dino rider. I really hope Mattel will remaster those for Origins 👍

Nah, I've looked hard for any vintage Lady Slither concept, I can't find it. From what I've seen she was just made for Classics. She was inspired by a Filmation character called Zilora, the leader of the Snake Clan. There's a page on the Toyhabits site called "Origins of Lady Slither and the Snake Lair: Zilora" explaining Lady Slither's origins. Thanks again.

As with Terroar, Lord Gr’asp is an interesting mish-mash of existing parts. It’s cool that Mattel is releasing all of these unproduced characters from the “lost” 1988 wave. I never knew about any of these characters until a few years ago when I saw Pixel Dan’s reviews of the Classics series. I certainly don’t mind the Snake Men, but I will admit it’s starting to wear a bit thin now. I think we might be heading into the era of The Powers of Grayskull now, if the packaging for King Grayskull and the Moat Monster from Eternia were any indication. Don’t really have much more to say than that; nothing really stands out to me other than he’s a cool and interesting figure. The cape definitely adds something to the character’s look. Although after recently opening Scare Glow, I think I would prefer if the cape were made of cloth and an elastic neck-band instead of everything being plastic. The way it moves around on Scare Glow just feels kind of awkward to me. Great review as always! Keep ‘em coming! 🙂 ~Damon

  • @Themanchlid

Thanks for watching. As always, Damon! I really enjoy all these different variations of the Snakemen faction Mattel has been adding to the Origins line. I also watched Pixal Dan's review on the Classics Snakemen pack right before I got mine in hand. That's the first time I was even aware of these lost Snakemen figures that were never made to the Powers of Grayskull line or just a regular 3 pack release in the vintage days. I think it's an interesting mix of parts and colors that make this Lord Gr'asp what he is! I think he definitely would have been with a cloth cape. I might buy a custom one down the road! I have a feeling more Snakemen are coming, and Mattel is gonna try to finish all of those concepts that never made it to the vintage or Classics line. Hopefully, we will see new Vintage Inspired Origins at SDCC this july.

Yeah, I looked at Stinkor and both Ninjor with arm swaps. You can use those arms well because they also match good with the black shades. But there is custom painting involved to match lord grasp with those. You can paint Ninjors Gloves Orange or Stinkors Stripes Yellow, as you mentioned. But many people don't want to get involved doing that. They just want to be able to swap a couple of parts out, which is easier. I do the talking, and a lot of the in hand shots. You can't imagine how many cuts and re shoots are done for certain reasons. The Man Child name is the channel, and everyone involved. We don't consider the channel really big if you compare the subscribers to someone like Pixal Dan's subs and first generation toy review channels. It's just really a hobby. I can live without having a troopbuilder "no name" snake trooper. Curios about this Zodac/Syklone Clone figure, which should also come (has a classics release). This must be planed from Mattel already ... we got Syklone and Zodac (Fan Favourite) - so the parts (Body, Head) are ready. Yes, re-used of part or repaints (only counts for unique features and exklusive sculpts) not for Armor or Equipment (or "He-Man Arms/Legs or "Skeletor Boots" like id*ots think and try to communicate in the fan-community). With this figures - they break all unique things, but the figures are still good!

@@iliasfog8857 Nice haul and price on that Slamurai figure. I was gonna pick up a second one for customs but he is hard to find now and very expensive! That figure was Strobo on the back of the art. I could make out who was on that flying Creature at first. But I remember hearing rumors that strobo will be coming to the Origins line. He was also supposed to part of the Powers of Grayskull series in the 80s. I didn't mentioned that character in the review. The Rattlor head on that Snake Trooper body just looks weird because you can't articulate it down without the armor opened up. They should have made more of a closed mouth design like the Classics.

@@Themanchlid Slamurai: Yes, a very shaky deal! Horrors of humanity included... but i got it save and clean. Reminded me on this filmation meme with this pink picture of He-Man. I was on the run after buying. (This deal had "high bonus hopes" from his side.) Snake Trooper: You are right (there is only one drawing out of 4 which looks like Squeeze - the other three look like Rattlor) Ok! Then they simply need a to create a smaller head extension piece (than Rattlor had) - problem solved. Yes Strobo! I buy him for a dollar :o))

@@iliasfog8857 Well at least you're deal worked out with Slamurai, and you got him now! It's interesting you mentioned about a small neck extension piece. Because That's a custom idea That's high on my list that can really help out certain Heads on certain bodies in the Origins series. That trooper suit definitely can use one for a lot of heads. Yeah the Strobo concept is just another mix of tooled parts from Sy-klone and Zodac very simular to Lord Grasp and Terroar! I have the Classics figure of him of coarse. It's one of those figures you can look at it and not care for or just like him as another variant with new paint and another made up character story for the Motu series as these mash ups are nothing new with shared parts. It's what made this toy line fun as kids but can also make it silly at times as adults now.

So HE-MAN shows up in this comic in just 1 panel, with no explanation. Why? That was completely pointless, there was no need for him in this story.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! Yeah I don't always take those comics very serious! They are really cool and should be an important part of the back story to these figures. But they are short and try to mix to many characters or things going on at once to market these figures. I'm more into the figures them selfs for my collection display. That tells a different story in my head!

@williamrandall9502 Some comics definitely have more pages and story put into them for certain figures. Others feel rushed to just slam a bunch of figures from a wave or two in the story.

Thanks for stopping in to check out the reviews! These figure variants are nothing new in the Motu series. These are just unproduced figures that had plans to be produced in the vintage series but it then ended in the late 80s. Mattel has plans for many more Cartoon figures to come!

But I definitely want to see the rest of the vintage inspired figures finished up for Origins just as much!
