"Masterpiece" NEW Proline MX28 HP Belted 2.8 with ARRMA Truggified Typhon and Baja 6s

Finally!!! After years of waiting and hoping for the perfect spec, 6s capable 2.8 tire, the wait is over. HUGE shout out to Proline for this lightweight, aggressive Belted Badland!!! The "Truggified" Typhon 6s is easily my favorite RC of all time. Such a versatile little Ripper. No more strapping or taping tires to handle her speed and power. Loving the speed, control, and handling of these MX28 HP wheels. Thanks to ARRMA, M2C Racing, and Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA for having such a killer inventory of rigs and parts.

    @@richduperbash2966 These MX28 belted look good. They look slimmer too based on your video. I have a 1/10 Losi DB Pro that has the 2.2/3.0 SC Proline tires/rim. The MX28 is a few mm taller/wider 128/53mm compared to my Proline 2.2 112/46mm size. Do you have a Losi or another SC desert buggy with 2.2/3.0 tires/rim...asking if you compared the MX28 belted do they look like monster tires on it or just slightly larger? Thx Sir

    Thank you sir for all the rundown stats pre run man so detailed. I’ve got this exact set up on my v5 I bought this spring. It’s been a total animal and a tank. I’ve gotten something like 70 or 80 batteries through it. I broke a couple t bone bumpers. A wing/mount. And I pulled a bottom screw out from a rear diff case. Long story short it’s been a beast. The perfect rc car imo. IN my 15+ yrs of rcing I’ve never had a car this durable sending it so hard. My smc batts have died now but the typhon still begs for more..

    I run these same exact tires on my Truggified Typhon, and I have found that they seem to be light enough that I can get away with running the original straight-cut diff gears. I have a set of new spiral cut gears but I figured I'd see how long it takes to destroy the stock ones before I change over. Well, about 10+ 6S packs later, they're still good. I checked the front and rear today and they're worn in a bit but look absolutely perfect. That is with pretty serious bashing, many, many 25+ ft airs and several severe cartwheels and full-throttle landings to keep it on all 4. Not sure if the v5 has better gears or if it is the tires, but either way ive been really impressed.

Once I saw the first video where RDB says its his favorite R/C out of all of them that was enough for me. He repeated that sentiment in one of his last few videos. If he likes the Trug. Typhon better than his new 8S EXB Outcast or Kraton that says a hell of a lot for that build. RDB has more experience with Arrmas than me and everyone I know put together lol.

    Thanks William 🤗. The Truggified Typhon 6s is still my all time favorite 😍. Such a capable little Beast. My Typhon 3s stands wide because I glued original Badlands 2.8 on Proline F11 2.8 17mm hex rims. You could probably buy them premounted with the raid rims and use their offset 17mm Raid hexes 🤔. In any case, I find the width perfect. The Kraton 4s stance is great, but you'd need bigger 4s shocks, longer shafts, links...etc. They share the same chassis. You'd be basically building a Kraton 4s. 😎💪👊👊

Lots of ash and hard, bone dry dirt mixed with gravel. The M2 compound is a bit softer and stickier than most Dboots tires from what I've seen. I can't compare these to the LP's really because they're much smaller being 2.8's. I do LOVE the LP's though 😍. Now, my second vehicle is a Typhon 6s. I'm eyeballing those belted Badlands now after seeing you run them. I'm not sure if you can answer this, but do you think those belted Badlands will fit (and not rub body) without using the hubs from a Kraton? I know they're nowhere near as wide as the standard MX28s. I'd like to order them for a trip I'm going for the 4th, but no time to wrench around before then....eventually I'll switch them over if needed

    Thanks so much Matt 🤗. Stoked to hear about your return to the hobby 😱. You probably wouldn't have body rub with the belted MX28 HP's, but the rear rims would likely rub on the stock Typhon 6s hubs. An alternative to swapping on Kraton hex's, hubs, and stub axels would be considering the M2C +5mm universal hexs. That puts a little more torque on the axels and bearings going that route, but it's a thought. 🍻😎💪👊👊

    Hi sir, does the new belted mx28 give you the same air control as the non-belt mx28? It seem to me the non-belt & heavier mx28 give much better air control for back flip etc. Please correct me if I am wrong. I am getting next set of mx28, just not sure should I go for the belted version.

    @@euqat That's exactly what I did. I truggyfied my Typhon TLR tuned. The shock shafts are a weak point I have been 3 since truggyfying mine. I believe M2C has beefy shock shafts. If so I'm going that route. Other than that the TLR is solid. The chassis is much stronger than the regular Typhon chassis. It's actually real machined Aluminum not stamped aluminum, Good luck, you're going to love it. She is an animal!

    How you doing mate. Looks like you are very good in what you doing and that's why I'm coming to you with a question. Do you really think the arrma typhon is better basher then the 1/8 arrma kraton 6s exb? I can't make my mind up which one of these I should get and your opinion would help a lot. Thank you and all the best. Great videos BTW man.

    Thanks so much Brother 😜. The Kraton is definitely more capable at tackling a variety of terrain with it's truggy size stance and bigger 3.8 MT style wheels. It's truly one of the very best all around bashers and one I always recommend 😍. The Typhon is a wonderful and versatile bash buggy. Going Truggified allows it to better handle rougher terrain than stock with buggy wheels, but it's still size challenged compared to the Kraton. I just love the challenge of trying to control mine 😜🍻😎💪👊👊

    Hey Rich, at the risk of sounding like a newbie (which I am) what does truggified mean? Is it making the vehicle more of an off road type unit?

  • @richduperbash2966

    @richduperbash2966

    Truggified is kind of a nickname for making a buggy a bit bigger like a truggy. It does actually make it better equipped for rougher off road use. The wider stance makes it more stable like a truggy and the taller wheels give it better ground clearance to tackle rougher terrain easier 👍.
