Dimension check value posting report shows 'The report couldn’t be generated, because it was empty. Adjust your filters and try again.' error. can you please explain why it happens and how to solve it?

This error occurs when the report generates no data due to overly restrictive filters or a lack of relevant data within the specified criteria. To solve it, adjust your filter settings to broaden the search criteria or verify the presence of applicable data within the system. Ensure that the dimensions and values you're querying are present and correctly entered in your Microsoft Business Central environment.

Hello! I have two questions for you: Example: Customer in Europe moves to the USA. The CEO doesn't want to create a new customer card and I change the data in the customer card accordingly. Scenario 1: -> In BC there is a Dimension Code "Region" with the Dimension Value Codes "Europe" and "USA" -> I go to the customer card, click on the action "Dimensions" and change the Dimension Value Code from "Europe" to "USA" Scenario 2 in BC: -> In BC there are two Dimension Codes: "Europe" and "USA" -> I go to the customer card, click on the action "Dimensions" and change the Dimension Code "Europe" to "USA" Question: -> Before the change there are thousands of entries registered as european transactions, are these entries still somehow/somewhere recognizable as european transactions after the change each in both scenarios?

Your scenarios describe changes in dimension values and codes associated with a customer, and you're concerned about the traceability of historical entries after such changes. Here's how it works in BC: Scenario 1: Changing the Dimension Value Code When you change the Dimension Value Code from "Europe" to "USA" for a customer, you're altering the dimension value associated with that customer for future transactions. Historical entries that were posted before this change will retain their original dimension values. This means that transactions previously recorded with the "Europe" dimension will still be identifiable as European transactions. Dynamics 365 Business Central maintains historical data integrity, ensuring that past entries are not affected by changes to dimension values on the customer card. For reporting and analysis, you can still distinguish these entries as European based on their dimension value at the time of posting. Scenario 2: Changing the Dimension Code In the second scenario, you're describing a situation where dimension codes are treated as separate entities (e.g., "Europe" and "USA"). If you change the dimension code associated with a customer from "Europe" to "USA", this action might not be directly possible as described because dimension codes are typically predefined and used to group dimension values. Instead, you would associate a new dimension value (under the "USA" dimension code) with the customer for future transactions. However, if you're implying that transactions are being re-categorized from one dimension code to another, the historical transactions would still retain their original dimension code and value, ensuring their traceability. BC does not retroactively alter historical transaction data when you change the dimensions on a customer card for future transactions. Each transaction records the dimension data at the time of posting, preserving the historical accuracy of financial and operational data. In both scenarios, historical entries remain recognizable based on their original dimensions (whether it's the dimension value or code). Changing a customer's dimensions affects only future transactions. This design ensures data integrity and allows for accurate historical reporting and analysis. For comprehensive visibility into historical data, you can use BC's reporting and analysis tools, specifying the dimension codes and values as filters to view transactions from specific regions or categories.

Thanks for your comment! To check if a journal is indexed as Publons, you can try searching for the journal's name on the Publons website directly. You might find more information there.
