Master Your Mind : Barry Long

Barry Long speaks about the right relationship of mind and body. How to stop your mind from wandering. How to hold your stillness in the busy world.
This is some of the earliest footage of Barry Long teaching; filmed during a week of talks for four hundred people at The Victoria Rooms, Bristol, England in May 1989. Here he answers questions from the audience about being in touch with the sensation or presence of the body as a practice in daily life.
"All thoughts are man-made. Not one single thought is God-made."

Despite being recorded over two decades ago, his words are fresh and brand new because he speaks from that timeless space of Now. You can just feel the Truth resonate in his words.

The only person who speaks the truth, no matter how hard it may sound, straight to the point... disregarding any embellishment or Holywood Effect from the East...You take it, or you leave it...No Nirvana,Purusha and the rest of it...just the truth

Travelling across Canada a few years back, driving from hotel to hotel, I would seek a piece of greenery in a paved over parking lot. It seems that I was on to something :)

mianusa mian In the tape how to stop thinking he says you have to act to cure thinking. I have come to believe that thinking is needed, memory is needed to some extent. In awareness of the here and now thinking doesn't exist. There is no shadow or fear. The only thing I can do once I catch myself thinking about the past, present, future is to snap my fingers and say "Hey! Stop it."

So he is giving us "thinking" too , which he is speaking agaisnt. I feel the speaker is just saying replace your thinking with the one I am offering. replacing one thought with another? Makes me conclude that every thing is a thought and we must have that realization. Our worries, relaites, pains or happiness are just thoughts. Your are ur thougts. Confusion is when you have too many thoughts. Then it is conflict and sufferings. Having one thought is attention and it brings peace.

@iTheGeneral Exactly General, watch constantly for IT arising and in so doing actually prevent IT from arising. Or when IT does arise simply hold it with your attention and burn IT out of you. Best Wishes.
