A little about me:
I am James McBurnett. I live in the great state of Texas. Probably not where you would think, but I am located in the panhandle region. I moved here from Alabama and work as a Chemical Engineer in the area. After being here for a few years, I decided to get back to my roots as a fisherman. It is quite challenging in my area to find a body of water to fish. The closest lake to me is about 40 miles away.
After a couple more years, I realized how much I love fishing and wanted to share it with the world. Clearwater fishing was born. I wanted to teach people all about fishing. This includes rods, reels, fishing line, bait, lures, largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, catfish, bluegill, boats, boat trailers, outboards, and anything else related to fishing.
I also wanted to share my fishing experiences as well. To be entertaining, knowledgeable, comical, and FUN. This channel was created out of the love of the sport of fishing, and I plan to keep making content that represents that. Thank you for watching this video and reading a bit about me. Give me a shout out in the comments below and let me know you read this. Now get out there and go catch you some fish.

    Very good video, thanks! I've used HumminbirdPC a bunch but found EasyXML better for managing my WPs. Plus, the last I checked HB had not updated HBPC to accommodate the date/time format difference between Helix generation units and Solix/Apex generation units.

    I run helix and prefix all my groups with “Z”, then when I open Nav I can sort by “Z to A” and have my groups on top to select and set as default. I use Humminbird PC in past to sort Wpts by lat and long areas, then move them in the new group. With groups you don’t have to sort through hundreds of Wpts to get what you want.

    Thanks for the video, maybe there is a setting in humminbird that does not stop the SI when setting a waypoint? It is very inconvenient when SI stops at this time. The boat continues to move and while we set one point, we lose a lot of information. For lowrance SI echo sounders, it does not stop at this moment, but is recorded in the device’s memory and then scrolls quickly...

    I had just went and assigned all my 2,200 waypoints in Groups and what a chore to do prior to watching this video. Sure wish Humminbird would come out with an easier method such as software for a desktop computer. It is like Humminbird does not support the Solix.

    Easy XML is a great tool for editing waypoints. It's cheap and easy to edit individual WPs or edit groups of WPs.

    So great to seen an updated Solix video. I was searching for information on groups in solix and came across. You mentioned Humminbird PC video, where is that? Also, I was looking on HBirds site and they say that the export file for Solix won't retain grouping. Would love to see your workaround

    Thanks man! On mine, when I export my nav data; it exports as a gpx file. I can then delete all my waypoints on the unit, and when I import the gpx file, the groups and all the waypoints are there. I believe the gpx file holds your groups in it from that experience. Humminbird PC is in the link below, but be warned. It is not user friendly at all. www.humminbird.com/support/software-updates/humminbirdpc-v-4-6-1

    @@clearwaterfishing OK, figured out the waypoints, but what about tracks? I opened the GPX from Lake Fork Boat lanes and looked at the Extensions added to that file and its apparent they used an advanced editor because when you import that card it imports the waypoints and tracks into a new Group in Solix. I've been trying several things to try and get Tracks to import into the folder I want and not My Data. I think I figured out the Extensions to add to import the line in the correct color and thickness. Would love to see if you know/have video on getting tracks and waypoints into a Solix Group from a GPX using the HBird 4.6.1 editor. I'm adding extensions to the GPX file with GPX editor but it can corrupt it too. thx

    You can make entire Groups invisible or individual WPs invisible. The properties of the individual WP overrides the property of the Group. For instance you can set a Group to be invisible but 1 WP to be visible and the 1 WP will be displayed on the chart.

    Question a little OT... When you use "Go To" function, does it automatically spot-lock you upon arrival? First time Solix owner.

  • @clearwaterfishing

    @clearwaterfishing

    It can but you have to set it up that way. I think it is call action upon arrival. Then tell it to spot lock.

    Once I put the waypoints into a group, how can I delete that group and all the waypoints in that group? Or, do I have to delete each waypoint one by one? Thank you!

    You can delete a Group in the NAV Data screen, select Groups and then the Group you want to delete. Deleting the Group will delete all the WPs in that group.
