This is the best "How - To" video I've ever seen! It's to the point, no gate keeping and actually recommends products. Thank you.
This was INCREDIBLE. Thanks for explaining the important features (shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and frame rate. You made it make complete sense to the unprofessional photographers. I feel more aware now with these few features alone.
The best video I've seen about smartphone filmmaking by a LONG shot. Watched it all!
Amazing. I couldn't wrap my head around shutter speed and this video helped me to understand everything. Thank you!
Just watched your "20 minute smart phone" video and I say to who'll ever see this, this is rhe most informative video for shooting video with your phone I have ever seen. I cannot praise this video enough. The only negative is a lot of the amateurish mistakes talked about I have been guilty of. BUT that was before I saw this video. I just cannot thank you enough for educating me and everybody else. One of the things I'm downright ashamed of is in the past I would keep all my settings on auto to do video. I will tell everyone I know about this video. It is truly appreciated
Perfect!! The Master your camera video was already so detailed and helpful now the master your mobile phone camera one is even better! Thank you for making such detailed tutorials for us. Lots of content creators are creating videos using smartphones only and this video is the tutorial we need!
Thanks for sharing all these tips. As a working actor and as a film school grad I always recognized the potential of my phone’s camera but never really used it for anything other than the usual quick short social situations. This has really sparked my interest in starting to utilize my phone in more of a filmmaking craft.

More of a Moviemaking craft. Your phone videos, it does not film. :-) We make movies, not films.
I did almost 60% of the settings possible into my androind phone. Never knew these settings on my phone camera before. Thank you so much. Every second of the video is worth watching.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📱 This video aims to teach mobile filmmaking in 20 minutes, suitable for KZread creators, social media influencers, travelers, hobbyists, and those looking to start a film business using their smartphones. 01:24 📽️ Smartphone filmmaking has gained popularity, with examples of successful movies shot on iPhones, emphasizing the importance of knowing how to control your phone's camera settings. 02:17 📷 Avoid using your phone's native camera app for filming; instead, use dedicated third-party camera apps like Filmic Pro, DJI Beast cam, or Moment Pro Camera app for better control over settings. 03:56 ⚙️ To achieve the correct exposure on your smartphone, focus on frame rate, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance settings, making sure to match them appropriately for the situation. 05:33 🎥 The recommended frame rate for a cinematic look is 24 frames per second, while higher frame rates like 60-120 fps are suitable for achieving smooth slow-motion effects. 07:08 🌆 ISO controls the exposure but can introduce noise and grain, so it's best to keep it as low as possible (ideally below 800). 09:01 ⏲️ Shutter speed affects both exposure and motion blur; doubling the frame rate for shutter speed generally creates natural-looking motion blur. 11:20 🎨 White balance ensures accurate colors in your footage; set it manually to match the lighting conditions, avoiding the "orange" or "blue" tint that can result from auto settings. 15:02 😎 An ND filter acts as "sunglasses" for your camera, allowing you to control exposure without adjusting ISO or shutter speed in bright conditions. 18:45 📸 Improve smartphone footage by shooting in 4K, adjusting bit rate settings, turning off the internal stabilizer (rely on external gimbals), and using a flat picture profile for better post-processing flexibility. 20:09 📷 Focus on using the main lens of your smartphone for the highest quality footage, as phone manufacturers prioritize this lens over others. 20:38 📷 Use the highest quality lens on your smartphone, typically the standard lens around 26mm, for the best results. Avoid using the ultra-wide lens for critical shots. 21:05 📸 Third-party lenses, like those from Moment, can significantly improve the quality of smartphone footage by providing different focal lengths while utilizing the phone's standard lens. 22:01 🔄 Use a gimbal for smooth camera movements to avoid shaky and amateur-looking footage when shooting with a smartphone. 23:08 🚫 Understand your smartphone's limitations and avoid shooting in situations where it performs poorly, such as low-light conditions or scenes with blown-out highlights. 25:13 💻 Explore more in-depth mobile filmmaking courses and filmmaking skills in general through resources like Tomorrow's Filmmakers, an online film academy with a wide range of training videos. Literally best straight to the point video on KZread
THIS is what I need! 1000 thank yous, this has helped me a lot!! I never knew what those letters in my camera settings meant, but now I feel like I’m a professional. I learned so much with your videos, it’s insane🤩
Let’s get a post production - part two
You explained Shutter Speed so well
This is the best video-making tutorial on KZread. Hands down. You've made a fan here man. And I'm a professional TV producer who's been in the industry for 19 years. I usually laugh at most tutorials with such titles, but this was a really good one. Keep it up!
KZread should bookmark this video & delete all other videos on Mobile videography. Such a detailed explanation. Great work @Tomorrows Filmmakers
I have never taken a filmmaking class or done anything with photography or filming. I feel more than confident to go film and balance photos now, but even more so, I feel like I could explain and teach someone else. Excellent content, thank you!
Great explanations, tips, and advice I'm definitely be coming back to this video to reference it! Thank you
Protect this video at all costs…
It actually depends on what timeline you’re editing to slowdown a 60fps video, you’ll need to divide the the frames of the timeline. 24/60 =.40 or 40% 30/60 =.50 or 50%

Many people don't really get this calculation. I'm glad you pointed it out.

Shouldn't you use same multiplier in FPS? Like if using 24fps, use 144fps in slowmo (x1, x6) or if using 30fps use 60 / 120 fps (x1, x2, x4) in slow mo? That's a tip I've heard before.

Out of all the videos on KZread. This has to be the best, detailed video I’ve ever seen!
Amazing detailed video with proper examples is what stands out from the rest of the videos on youtube. Thank you so much for the real life scenario examples
I am BEYOND THANKFUL for this video, just removed a £2500 camera from my basket and replaced it with a much cheaper alternative with interchangeable lens to suit my needs ! Thank you so, so much ! ❤ subscribed !! ❤❤
This is more than valuable. I'm an aspiring film maker, and watching this, I'm more than motivated to push my dream
Brilliant video! I have been looking for such a comprehensive video for a really long time.
This is the best video I’ve watched on KZread so far 👍🏽 Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I mean, YOU GET IT. Not many people do. Thank you for this detailed explanation and even the link for the starter KIT of which I'm going to purchase ALL. You have a new subscriber.
This video is SIMPLY AMAZING thank you so much for the effort ❤️❤️ pure gold
I never have been able to hold my attention or get anything substantial from these types of videos but WOW this one is amazing!! The detail, the simple explanations, heck I didn’t even know there were outside apps you could to get better video on your phone! I’m in awe of how great this is!
I have adhd and normally 20 minutes would be too much for my brain but the way you formatted this video brought my attention back every time it tried to drift. I also really liked the timer at the bottom of the screen. Very helpful information!
I cannot even say how much I like the video. I'm starting to make videos with mostly my action camera, but I might add some high-end phone footage later on to the mix as well. And holy crap this is helpful - it's amazing how you provide essential examples that are easy to grasp. Thank you!
I've been looking for a video like this for too many years, thank you so much for this!
This is pure gold. 💥 ultimate guide for amateur mobile videographers
Brilliant! Simple, easy to understand and explains what a non-pro-videographer like me needs to know

Hi Jaqui! What would be the best ADD-ON LENS for IPhone, to Film a Head Talking Video with Cinematic Mood? That provides a little bit of dept in the scene (I don’t like the video shoot right on the face… a little bit far but with a little blurry in the background) Thanks a lot! Pd: I am not a YT but I am giving 1:1 OnLine Spanish Classes, so I am trying to record some classes in form of mini courses instead. Your expertise will be more than welcome!
IOS 17 on iPhone has a new feature called lock white balance which locks the white balance once you start recording so it isn’t shifting throughout the recording. Still not as good as a manual app but still a great feature
One of the best explanations I've ever seen!
Wow, direct, well explained, and with visual examples. Thank you!
26 min were worth it 🙌
Amazing lesson bro! Thank you so much! 👍👍👍
Haha I’ve got the same iPhone. Could’ve used this two weeks ago but your “Master Your Camera” video worked just as well. Just want to add that the Cinema P3 Pro app allows you to use a grey card for white balancing 👍
Love your video. I just like to say that while Filmic pro is really good the two best in my opinion are Mc24fpspro and Motion Cam Pro which can shoot Raw and HDR10 plus so much more there is a price but it is so worth it
I happen to search how to master the camera app on an iPhone and this came up on the search. Now how you explained the variety of features makes me more interested in filming. I’m hoping to come back to this video for future interests.
So far among the Vedeos I watched, regarding shooting Vedeos, you're by far the BEST.
Thank you!!! I’ve been wanting to become a KZreadr for over a year and a half but perfectionism and self-doubt has held me back as well as thinking I need to have all the right equipment, when I already do. I have studio lights and experience making movies for OF. Properly set up your phone exposure. I hope you have a video on making the first KZread video.

Hey Ryan! I need your expertise here😊 What do you think would be the best ADD-ON LENS for IPhone, to Film a Head Talking Video with Cinematic Mood? I don’t like the video shoot right on the face… a little bit far, with some depth feeling with a little blurry in the background Thanks a lot! Pd: I am not a YT but I am giving 1:1 OnLine Spanish Classes, so I am trying to record some classes in form of mini courses instead. Your expertise will be more than welcome!
Highly informative ! Does the Action Mode feature on iPhone 15 ProMax remove the need to buy a gimbal for steady video ? Also in regard to “blown out highlights” and dynamic range when shooting on the phone , how well does the ProRAW/ProRES feature compensate for that limitation ?
Fantastic tutorial, thank you for going into such detail.
What a great explanation. I am zero in camera settings, but now I can understand behind the settings. Your way or explanation is easy to understand. Thanks for the clarification
Taking a guess on the ISO name: Back when actual film was used, my guess is the ISO standards organization established technical specifications for the film's reactivity given a certain amount of light So 600 ISO film and 800 ISO film would be different, but the same ISO from different manufacturers could be mostly the same

Really good video, but, what about Android phones? Why does everybody assume that iPhones are much more superior than them? It couldn't be further from the truth. Also, I think it's time we stopped calling them "smartphones". How many "dumb" phones do you see out there any longer? 😆
