Wow, Christmas came in June for you this year. Epic haul.

Excellent haul! Its so ironic that you had that little SFBC insert fall out of a book. I literally just bought a used book the other day and a similar one fell out, same layout but different books on offer. Until then I'd never seen one of them. They're pretty neat to look through. Mine is now my bookmark lol.

I love how people like sending you things - everybody wants to contribute to the towering piles of books in every video!

@@ShawnDStandfast Hah! Wonderful! And what you say in this video is entirely right: You simply MUST now create a definitive Author Study series and deal with each of these great old (& largely forgotten) sf authors - their biographies, their print histories, showcasing all these vintage paperbacks, the final word on each author. Imagine the invaluable resources those videos would be!

You can count the number of SF I have read on one hand but your enthusiasm opening that books and revealing his contents has made me somewhat curious, after my experience with June on the Range I might be tempted to start some SF.

Great haul! Nice to see paperbacks of that age looking so good - usually I find them in really beat-up condition. I bought a small lot of A.E. van Vogt paperbacks recently, and so far I've read The World of Null-A, Rogue Ship, and The Silkie. In many ways his writing is bad, with all sorts of inconsistencies and sudden lurches in the stories, but he keeps the books barreling along and makes them enjoyable despite the flaws.

This is a fantastic book haul!!!! Thanks so much too for giving me a mention. You also mentioned the Audible August challenge too which was lovely of you. I’m planning on reading 3 Simak books in the next couple of weeks. I’ll post about what I think of them. I’ve read very little Van Vogt- just a few short stories, I’ve always been aware of him though…..

Congrats on what looks to be an amazing book haul. I saw that copy of Transgalactic by A E van Vogt and had to have a copy, so I went on ebay and have one on its way shortly. I also want that copy of The Civilization Game: And Other Stories! Now I'm curious: I read Slan way back in my early teens and re-read it a couple of years ago and didn't care for it much. I'm wondering if that was an abridged edition. I am currently midway on a re-read of Simak novels, now I'm getting an urge to do one for A. E. van Vogt! LOL damn good thing I'm retired.
