Boy, AC, you're gonna have some fun times when those things become beetles.. I've personally handled them, so I'll give you a few really basic bits of info on them. - If you stick them close to your ear, you can actually hear their limbs and joints move.. They actually sound like a wind-up toy! - It's okay to let them crawl on you, but their tough legs will scrape you up a bit if you aren't careful. - Yes.. THEY DO FLY.. And by god, if you hear one flying but aren't aware that it's a rhino beetle, your first thought will be "Whatever that is, if it bites/stings me, I am going to die".. They literally sound like tiny helicopters when they fly, and you can actually FEEL the air being pushed off their wings. They're extremely intimidating to a person when flying, if you aren't sure what they are. They are truly amazing and awesome creatures, and I'm glad you spared them.. I mean, just look at those grubs, those are the cutest darn things! I even took a picture of one that I found, and still look at it every now and then.

Didn't see any of this sub-species when I was in the Philippines, but there's a similar one here in Australia. One of my favourite creatures. They have a particular scent to them (somewhere between mould, chemicals and musk), that can lead to a gathering and will generate a squeaking/hissing noise when disturbed, or while fighting. Fairly sluggish, you'll know if one flies into you and generally safe to pick up. Putting them down again can be an issue as their claws are sharp and they will grip tightly. Better to slide something under them and nudge them from behind to climb up. The males especially tend to rear up and reach out with the first 2-4 legs to threaten and will grab anything that gets in reach. Many a dog has fallen foul of these beetles. Females are harder to handle than males. Lack of horns, slick and smooth carapace, spiked upper legs and a tendency to wriggle and burrow when disturbed...Had one try to dig through my palm a few times. Its quite painful.

If you want to have beetles that are as large as possible, keep the grubs individually in large containers and feed them a lot of food. In this way they do not have any competition for space and food among each other and will grow at their intrinsic growth rate until they reach their genetic maximum size.

I love you dude you really are a great influence on this website. Teaching kids about entimology as well as the big kids show a certain and impressive type of charisma.

In Japan, its normal for kids to have beetles as pets, cause they are so small and easy to take care of. I grew up having beetles as pets, so it really pained me when I saw that you were going to kill one. But when decided to make them your pet instead, i grew immensely happy and relieved.

Beetles and beetle larva have always been so, so, so cute to me. Very glad that the first pre-killed animal I had to watch die on this channel was not one of them.

I'm so happy this went this way. I currently have on order a giant caucasis beetle grub and a hercules beetle larva. The grubs will be enormous. They are big enough to completely cover my whole palm with outstretched fingers

now you got hordes of disappointed ants that were looking forward to beetles

I did this with two Dubai roaches that were to be food for my Tarantula. They have their own enclosure and their names are Bill and Ted. And boy do they love Caramel Rice Cakes! 😁

D Angus it's annoying how dramatized these videos are. If hes not gonna do it, then dont do it. But he makes this like a TV show, when it's not. If I wanted to watch TV I would, but I'm on youtube. Theres no one else with good colonies and 4k videos like ac tho.

I was crying when you spared the grub😢 To others they're disgusting but in reality soul's are all equal, small creatures or big.

I absolutely hate bugs, especially beetles, they freak me out lol. But when I heard you say you were gonna feed your ants with the grubs, I got worried! When you decided to keep them I was so relieved! 😂😂
