Back in 2017 the Brave Wilderness crew grabbed their popcorn, sat back, and watch the show. Now, it's time to return to the return to bug theatre!
What’s a bug theatre you might ask? A bug theatre is a common name for an insect “light trap”, where a screen is illuminated at night to attract all sorts of creepy crawlies and bizarre insect species. It is a common practice used by field entomologists around the world!

Lots of hiking and we did a zipline too. After we came home, we started officially dating. Costa Rica will always have a place in my heart. The only downside was it was super hot and humid😅

Even from just the shadow, I instantly recognized the inspiration for one of the greatest Bug Type Pokémon, the mighty Heracross. This was awesome

How about a serious about abnormally large insects, reptiles and amphibians? Covers like a certain genus in a species that is much larger than others. So like the Hercules beetle, the hellbender salamander, monitor lizards, Queen Alexandra's Birdwing butterflies, the Hercules moth! Like seriously it would be cool to learn what lareg species there are that we've maybe never heard of like I wonder what the largest ant species is or the largest grasshopper species.
Shout out to Jim Cordoba Alfaro! Dude is super cool and knows his bugs!
These big guys are generally very chill, they are just insanely strong
9:41 the enthusiasm of how many species he’s got in his app quickly switching to enthusiasm of the beetle 😂😂
Just two guys with hats chillin' with bugs because nature is awesome. Jim's a classy fellow. His love of nature is contagious. I'm afraid of bugs but I think Jim makes it fun. We need Jim to return in the future please.
That beetle is worth 8,000 bells!
I absolutely love how Jim was so excited and happy to just be able to spread his knowledge and teach coyote and us , it just shows how many fascinating things in nature and how good people can be . It warms my heart and I think bugs are just really fascinating even though when I get close to a stinkbug I scream. 😂
The “yeah, totally! ” is so adorable 😭💗
That was the hugest beetle I’ve ever seen look at the size of that thing what an awesome episode
I love how it’s so big that when it landed it shook the whole thing and launched a ton of bugs off the sheet

We had rhinoceros beetles in North Carolina. They were not as common as swallow-tailed butterflies, but they were big and they were there. They could fly but usually when they hit some thing they couldn't hold onto, they went to the ground.
I appreciate you taking better help as a sponsor. Mental health is finally getting the attention it deserves
Wow, this was a fascinating video. Insane to see so many crazy insects packed into a small space. And please keep collaborating with this guy, he's awesome!
I love how butterflies just fly around in the background you can really see the abundance of insects there
Something I hate is when people say that you are over reacting when they don't know how painful the bites or stings are
this video really made me realize how much we need insects. great job on getting Jim to teach us that lesson
Im really happy that a company actually supports bugs out there and i hope it continues to grow! 😁
“What does it replicate?” “Yes”
Can we talk about the circular pattern the bugs made on the screen?? That looked dope af. Kinda like a magnet with metal shards lol
As an avid bug kid, that insect-attracting screen would have excited the heck out of me as a child. I wanted to be an entomologist growing up. 😅
I love insects so much!! I would LOVE to visit places all over the world and meet all sorts of different insects!
It is just wild (pun intended) that everywhere you go in Costa Rica, every square kilometer you will find at least 19 different and new species. That is just crazy.
When i was a child in the uk in the 80s i used to marvel at the variety of insects in the fields and forests . It greatly saddens me to say the majority of the insects have now disappeared from my locale . I suspect pesticides used in farming , the number of butterflies and bees is now a tiny fraction of what it once was .
I absolutely love how excite you both got when the elephant beetle hit the sheet 🥰 shows how much you both truly love what you do.
9:54 “one of the largest beetles of our planet!!!” He’s so cute and happy omg 😂😂and then he says it again
That beetle is absolutely beautiful😍

Always loved this channel and the insight it provides into the larger aspect of the world and its species.
It’s so wholesome seeing these guys nerd out over a giant beetle.
This is amazing! Jim and the BioSur foundation are doing incredible things in the Osa Peninsula. Thanks for showcasing such an important non-profit!
Thanks for spreading the message of insect biodiversity! I encourage everyone to find a wildflower meadow near you mid summer and take a closer look at blooming flowers. You will be surprised at the sheer diversity of interesting insects.

im iff off of mushrooms watching this. and im going to dedicate my life to saving the bugs bro. U have my word.
i missed these kind of episodes ! more of this :D
As a beetle lover that is one awesome bug.
I love insects because of the diverse colors and shapes and sizes and camouflages that they have!
If you love bugs, you'll definiteley turn into a kid if you've seen a beetle that huge. Like these guys 🤣
i wanna give that beetle a smooch
The real life heracross
**Oh man 3 different lights so complex and special**
We focus so hard on saving the rain forest not expanding polution. It's like having a studio with a small fire blanket and expanding to a mansion and only keeping that saved fire blanket as means of protecting against a fire. it might help, but you also gotta expand the solution for every square foot of polution
As a biologist in college right now thank you so much for talking about how it is so important to protect organisms other than the megafauna. but still love the megafauna!!!
As someone who is scared of bugs, I have to say this beetle is kinda cute to be honest.
That is so beautiful. They would be such neat pets, if only beetles like these big ones would live longer.
9:43 is where he finds the beetle 15:54 is where he puts it on his face
Hey there Coyote. Im really impressed about the way you are trying to inform us about the wild. If it was the sting/bite zone or the Informations now, i really appreciate it. Keep it up and stay wild❤
