That could change soon. Jack Smith requested a Gag order on him for the documents case.. if she doesn't order it he can take it to the 11th Circuit and have her removed from the case. If she tries to dismiss the case he has the same option..

It's nice to know we have proof that the documents were top secret, but it doesn't matter. All the rulings about who should be able to see them, which are holding up the trial, aren't necessary. He doesn't have the right to any of them. He took them. He lied. He concealed. It's provable. If he'd stolen the table settings, we wouldn't be trying to learn if they were silver, silver-plate or stainless steal. IT DOESN'T MATTER. They aren't his.

Very true. I used to have a job with security clearance. I had to sign multiple times that under no circumstances I was allowed to keep classified documents unattended. If I wasn’t working on them, I had to lock them in certain places.

Regarding the criminal and ignorant acts of Mr. trump in the stolen secret documents case, and frankly, all his trials, there's really little difficulty in proving his guilt. He's a dumb criminal, too. The real obstacle is putting these cases before an uncompromised judge, one that hasn't been bought with oligarch and foreign bribery dollars. This is the American challenge today, which, until recently, was inconceivable.

Classified or not, all those documents belonged to the National Archives and taking them without permission was still a violation of federal law. The FBI would have still needed to execute a search warrant to retrieve them, and Trump would still deserve to stand trial for breaking the law.

@@user-dj3pr1zx2j Biden found the documents, informed the NA that he had them, and then voluntarily given them back. I think the same was reported about Pence. In both cases, they voluntarily returned the documents. The NA requested Trump give what he had back. Trump stonewalled them to the point that they had to have the FBI execute a search warrant to retrieve them, and then they found out that he tried to cover up the existence of even more, and took some with him to New Jersey before the FBI search. If Trump had given all of them back when the initial request was made, then that would have been the end of the matter and everyone (except Trump) would have moved on with their lives. The fact is, he didn't. He worked to keep them even after he was point blank told by his own lawyers it was illegal to do so. That is why he needs to stand trial. 🙄🤡

@@user-dj3pr1zx2j Yes. It does not cover classified or declassified documents. It pertains only to Presidential records (aka what he does as POTUS) and private records that he can keep. He cannot keep declassified documents nor Presidential records. They belong to the government and if they request their return and you don't return them, that is a crime.

Agreed. None of his charges actually related to 18 USC 1924 (mishandling class. documents). They're for withholding national defence information and numerous obstruction, conspiracy, lying to federal officers, attempting to destroy federal govt. property etc.
I am surprised the FBI didn't search his other properties.

Jack Smith can now bring up a new case with a different judge with these new findings...stolen document case with a different judge?! Right? forget cannon, get another case on the docket with a fair judge, one that will actually do their job and bring this case to fruition.
