*Six of Crows:* Take this with a grain of salt from someone who HATES Shadow and Bone with a burning passion XD Six of Crows starts slow before it picks up. Very much so compared to the rest of the book. I recommend reading 8 chapters before DNFing it for good. Basically till the whole crew gets together. If you *have* already read that much and didn’t like it, yeah, DNF it 😂 Random non spoilery quote from Kaz: “She laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and got drunk on it every night, he would have. And that frightened him”

I loveee six of crows and i didnt even finish the second book of the shadow and bone trilogy. Like i think they make sense as just a duology like you can definitly just read them without reading the rest. Maybe u can get more of the world if you read all of them but like its not worth it in my opinion.

I adored The Anthropocene Reviewed. I've listened to both John's individual podcast and his podcast with his brother Hank for years and this book is exactly the way that John talks. It's some of his individual podcast episodes in written context along with personal stories about his health or his children or his brother. It's for a very particular audience and if you don't fit it then that's totally fine but I'm kind of annoyed that people keep saying there is no reason for this book when there is and it's done very well with the demographic it's for. You have to be a fan of John Green as a person to enjoy this book.

44:40 The Bone Witch trilogy is one that I actually started from my library and then loved so much I went out and bought the physical copies bc I already plan on rereading them at some point. The concept, plot, and character building were done really well throughout all 3 books, IMO

I'm still on the fence about Hugo, so that probably means it's more of a 'no' for me. The only thing I really got out of it was that people need to remember celebrities play a part, so their true selves may never even be what we see, so our perceptions may be off.

I've read the Bone Witch trilogy, and honestly, I found it really good. It had a lot of things going for it and wasn't solely focused on romance and had good worldbuilding. The relationships built with her brother, mentors, and friends were nice. It gets better as it goes on, and the third book is my favorite. The ending might just make you cry. And it has dual povs from past and present. Keeps you on your toes! It has its flaws, but overall, it's a good read. I also have read poster girl and it was good in my opinion. Not as good as the bone witch, but it was definitely interesting, although I'm not sure I would recommend it. It fell a little flat, and I feel like it could use a lot more development. The ending was subpar, too. But if you like dystopian themes, then maybe not. It has a little romance and mystery aspect. And for such a short read, you might wanna give it a shot. Anywho loved the book unhaul! 🚨

As one gets older or continues their reading journey, they start to dial in what kinds of books work and what doesn't personally. Things I know about my reading taste: I love scifi but not aliens. I prefer humans in space stories. I also don't care for dragons in fantasy, and it has to be really good to get me to read about fae. In the past year I've learned that I'm not the audience for young adult fantasy romance in general. Or toxic romance "romance books". Vampires ... I'm out though I accidently read A Discovery of Witches when it first came out years ago before it was well known because it was about witches and the Bodleian Library ... and then a damn vampire showed up. I really enjoyed the trilogy, BTW. Unhauling is healthy and you have the added the bonus of passing along hard to find books for your area. That being said, I'm always on the hunt for new books hence my YT channel Bookeemonsters does a morning show M-F looking at each week's new books.

41:05 About The Anthropocene Reviewed - I have read it and I liked it. Personally, I just like how John Greene describes things in general. How he even questions the star rating as a thing because when you love something - what is the point of giving it a rating? It's a little essay collection. Short essays especially which make you think a lot. He also has a podcast about it and I listened to it after reading the book. Might work nicely when you read it and listen to it at the same time. If you like thinking about the world and the weirdness but also wonderful things it comes up with, it might be for you. (I spend too much time to wonder why some things are the way they are but it can be a lot of fun.)

Amazon switching their preorders is so frustrating. I preordered special edition sprayed edges months before the release and day off they sent out a regular copy. Without even asking or notifying. Just sent out a regular copy so on the order list the photo of the special edition changed to regular one that’s the only reason I noticed. Kinda messed up. I stopped preordering books from Amazon now and just stocked to their used books.

I'm glad I didn't read it. Six of crows! Same girl! I dnf-ed it so hard. I just can't. No no keep the notes in Elantris I say. I personally would love picking up an annotated book like that. I'd feel like I got from a friend. If we were villains. Girl same! I dnfd that too! Right after The Secret History. Figured I can't do a whodunit thrillers that goes flashback mode. 23:25 dang. I'd love seeing your annotations without context 😂😂😂 Yes get rid of CoHo! I read Olivia Atwater. My last reads of 2023. I liked them. 10,000 stitches was fun because of the fae, longshadow was kinda letdown yes but I was happy to finish the series. Dnf hating game 😂 where was the hating? I can't stand enemies to lovers unless they're somewhat cardan-jude (never gonna happen. Jurdan 👑) Same! Trends are great for the author, but as a reader I just feel turned off. Same with anime. I feel like the hype just makes the disappointment that much more disappointing. Trotwitch sounds like a blurb well done 😂 Omg I dnf Ithaca yesterday! 😂😂 It sounded promising but the writing.... What a drag

I understand the major criticism the book gets its for their poc characters and how they're written, but after much thought i really don't have a huge issue with it other than "well yeah a white woman wrote this" I think is just a good story that made me cry and I'd like to have on my shelves to reread for years to come🚨

I didn’t really like any of TJR’s other books and I have Evelyn Hugo on my tbr. I’m really worried I won’t like it so I’m hesitant to pick it up 😬

I think you should read Gone girl because even though the movie is very much similar to the book, the book still has a lot of in depth insights into the characters life and the events that lead up to the plot twist. There is great commentary on a lot of things and I would say u probably will like it even though you already know the plot. Also u look stunning as always❤

noooo. I love If We Were Villains. I can see how the Shakespearean element can be and possibly is off putting to some though.

I DNF’d Fire With Fire and gave it away. I listened to the audiobook and it read VERY young. Couldn’t do it.

Please please read Ready Player One, maybe you can watch the movie before. If you like the movie know that the book is even better, really really amazing. I don’t read science fiction but I ADORED this book
