i knew she could act, but her physical performance is rather impressive. she should be in more action movies
For me, it’s modernising the demon from ‘possession’ as technology and Rosalind expresses how that shapes us and makes us become someone we sometimes don’t want to be and how it, over times, can damage us. More than that, the acting is amazing. The perfection of subtly hitting your elbow on a wall and getting startled by it to the panic stare she gives. My god, and of course… it’s massive attack, so 10/10 music. This is beautiful.
For those who don't know, this is obviously an homage to the 1981 French film Possession. Rosamund Pike is wearing a similar dress to the one Isabelle Adjani wore in that infamous subway scene.

This was a brilliant first time experience: my first thought was Irreversible (Gaspar Noé, 2002), then when the sphere turned up I thought of Phantasm (Don Coscarelli, 1979), then when she went hysterical, I thought of Possession (Andrzej Zulawski, 1981) and Rosamund Pike reminded me of her psychotic performance in Gone Girl (David Fincher, 2014). This woman deserves some kind of an award. Idk if it would be a Grammy, an Oscar or what. The acting in this is... enthralling. I am so dialed in to her actions and movements. And it's the "robot/alien/entity" that's making it happen. But we are transfixed on HER. When she "acted" this, there was no robot. She was by herself doing this, imagining it. There was nothing there, except her. This is in my top ten best "acted scenes" I have ever scene. The FEELINGS invoked is incredible. I hate this sentence, but "You go girl.". You fuckin killed it. Again, some of the best acting I've ever seen. Not to mention the cinematography, CGI, lighting, creativity, and the musicality itself. A masterpiece. Bravo, encore! There is no need though. We already have so many masterpieces from Massive Attack. Ritual Spirit, Angel, etc..... The repertoire is incredible. I wish the broader audience was aware of this top tier art.

This is F***ing Incredible!🔥 The song/video!🔥🎶
This is like "Possession" by Andrzej Zuławski taken to the technological era. love.
Rosamund Pike: breathe me: where is her Oscar?
I remember being absolutely mesmerized after finding this in the new music videos section on KZread in 8th grade. It was my introduction to Massive Attack and what an introduction it was.
Rosemund Pike is phenomenal in this.
This is one of the greatest music videos I've seen in along time. If it doesn't win some kind of award then there's no justice in the world. It's absolutely outstanding.

+69crafty This may sound strange, but I'd REALLY like to see this developed into a movie. With Rosemund Pike of course, but no other headliners to keep it all about the story and less about the massive egos of Hollywood's actors and actresses. Well, except perhaps Scarlett Johansen. She was good in 'Lucy'. I could see her kicking ass on the forces that are sending these chrome ball drone things trying to take control of the human race.

Because if you compare it to most other bland music video's around at the moment it's totally unique. It manages to grab your attention from the start. It's intense and has all the quality's of an actually film and a great performance from Rosamund Pike. It's like you've just stumbled into a really good Sci Fi/Horror film about half way through. That's how.

+69crafty I guess I can see that. Definitely not one of the greatest for me but I respect your opinion.
Andrzej Żuławski's Possession (1981) Subway scene 😈 Isabelle Adjani and Rosamund Pike are amazing!

Rosamund Pike - wow, what an amazing performance
no disrespect to the typical band playing in their garage video, but this is why video clips were invented, awesome concept and incredible performance from rosamund pike
TBH this reminds me of Possession's (1981) Subway Scene. Actually, it is basically that scene. Nicely done

good observation. That`s exactly the movie I thought of when I saw this video. That was Isabelle Adjani, and I think she got the palm de or in Cannes for that performance.

The director of the video, Ringan Ledwidge, choose for chief inspiration the possession scene from the aptly named 1981 film "Possession", when directing the Oscar nominated actress Rosemund Pike. The floating mechanical ball featured in the video was inspired by 1979 horror/scifi film "Phantasm", which featured similar ghostly balls controlling helpless people's bodies.

I really can't wrap my head around this song. The lyrics and style are very different from my usual music, but I keep coming back. The rhythm of this song keeps bringing me back to it. When I hear it, I want to fight or run/work out
This song just made sense and hit me when I watched this video. Everything is connected here. Also, Rosamund Pike is brilliant.
I'm a huge Massive Attack fan. At first, this MV I felt deviated too far from their previous material. But I've grown over the years and now I'm fully aware that this is just another example of how brilliant Massive Attack is.

Rosamund Pike deserves and Oscar for this performance! Hell she deserves one just for rolling around on that nasty wet subway floor. But also for this amazing physical performance!!!
Rosamund is BRILLIANT!
THIS VIDEO IS JUST... AMAZING...I COULD FEEL MY DEMONS INSIDE!
Rosamund Pike and Massive Attack are a mind blowing combo on this song! According to Wikipedia, she has not had professional dance instruction. Incredible.
Everyone's talking about rosemunds acting and I'm not bashing it cos it's great but is no one gonna talk about this fucking amazing handheld camera work?
