Great to see! I restored one with a canopy (no cab) with multipower about 25 years ago. Still have it. We advanced the timing, and I had a friend at a diesel shop set up the pump and injectors. It hit 236hp on my dyno with little smoke and blew the back off the pump in the dyno! Then I put 5 more turns in the smoke screw! More power and still doesn't smoke too bad. Looks like you figured out like I did to trade the cast exhaust elbows side to side for duals. After we got it done, we hooked it to a 6 bottom oliver plow in TOUGH clay. Dad was driving it, i asked him why Massey would use an expensive V8 540 ci to gain only 7 hp over the turbo 354ci 6cyl in an 1135. He had the plow socked in and was digging hard with those 23.1x34s. He chopped the throttle all the way back and let it lug, still digging up hard clay with those tires tires at about 700 rpm for a while, then slammed the throttle up and instantly spun out! He said, "That's why, TORQUE! I usually work mine around 1300 to 1800 rpm. My Allis Chalmers buddy couldn't believe that the green range on the tach for working the engine started at 800 rpm and covered most of the tach. His was a narrow band.

Really wish you would put the original (manufacturers) exhaust on that 1155. I've spoke on here before and love the Masseys having grown up in the late 70s early 80s with nothing but top of the line Massey Fergusson tractors from the dealership beings that my grandfather was the local Massey Fergusson equipment dealer. We always had the newest to date tractors on the farm, 1105, 1135, and my favorite, the all mighty 1978-1155. There is no better sound of a tractor than firing up the V8 Perkins. The lope and sound from the original exhaust is nonother than the best. If you would, please change it back.

Like your Fergie 1155, a snorting beast, now I know what to buy if the lottery lotto numbers come up, import an 1155 Fergie in excellent running condition to the UK. Like the dash mounted gear selector and how many gears in the main gearbox(transmission). One thing I change on the 1155 is the 'stove pipes' swapped for short downward pointing stub pipes, ideal for setting off car alarms and bouncing decibels off the walls. What is the spares situation for Fergie 1155s are they easy to get hold off and import to UK?.

That’s some major ponies you’re kicking out with yours! Mine is quite a powerhouse, it would make all the v-8 haters eat their words 😆
A symphony of cylinders !.........awesome !
That thing is a beast!
I like your opinion, thanks for the video 👍🏻
I always have loved the Perkins diesel
Loud and proud. Ear candy. 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice looking tractor

Wow dam that thing sounds like a BEAST😂
Hell ya!! Let her eat!!! Sounds great!

No thats a proper massey ❤
Nice! The eyebrow at the end 🤣
Those engines are the music
I have an early 70s model 1150 V8 Perkins powerd massey ferguson and it's a beast it revs very quick and it's very powerful too
Absolutely love the old Masseys I grew up on them over here in Australia The old Steiger looks like a gem aswell
That thing is bad to the bone! I love the engine sound. To me, it sounds like a train when it passes by the camera!

😆. True!
Yep I agree that V8 is all a guy needs! Beautiful music
I worked a lot on the fields with Masseys here in 🇫🇮 and still part time farming. Smaller MF:s, 4355 and 575 but dreaming of bigger machines 💪🏻 Sound of V8, exhaust pipes and fan on the window reminds me of Duell-movie 🤠🚜🚛

pretty awesome
Many years ago my dad used to drive a same Leone it was twin exhaust like your tractor it was very noisy but sounded nice you had to wear ear defenders in the cab
LOVE the rain caps😂
This was cool I just come in from running my age 1468 in this video pops up good stuff
a wonderful video. this sound of the V8.540 is a dream. I'm happy when I can drive my 760 V8 over my fields again. such a 1155 will remain a dream for me. very rare here in Germany, like my 760 combine harvester.
Lol not an unpopular opinion! I agree she's a badass
Terrific; the Perkins didn't raise a sweat, in fact you seemed to be covering the ground pretty quickly. Still quite a few big Masseys of this era in work on farms in South Australia; not too many 4wd or V8s though. Look forward to the next posting, thanks for making the effort to share.

I need one! 👍😉
cool Massey
Great content. Thank you!

It sounds good with straight pipes, some things don’t though.
Like it !
My former father-in-law had one. He called it a poor man's tractor. "You buy one because you think you're too poor to buy a Deere. And then the Massey will keep you poor." Traded it for a 4640 and never looked back
I would have to agree with the 1155 being the best ever, but that means the 1150 would be second.
I think that Cat 3208 in the 1805 is a bit more noisy! Btw...got my new clutch installed so just making some adjustments and of course re-installing the "dumb bell"! 😁. New Gates belts on those hydraulic pumps. Let you know how it pulls this coming Monday. Thanks for letting us ride along!

@@jtsbarnngrill6873 Sure hope so! That clutch housing is HEAVY and not much room to stand in there between the motor and the front axle...but got it ok using that little trick you did with the tape wrapped around the bolt, pilot tool!
Looks like the 1155 was playing with that tillage tool.
Great !
AGREED !!- NO MUSIC 😃
I'm in a great place neighbour has a mf 1155 . I use a jd 4455 had no say in that. The other neighbour has a mf 4840 at night I could hear who's working up ground.
Nice . I had a 165 MF best tractor s MF. We have many in Israel on farms older ones from 1970s some have armor plates to protect from Snipers.. Seriously

Geez....worry a little about fall digging with stray bullet from deer hunters but nothing intentionally shot in my direction....I think. Unless it might be another farmer who wants my land. 🤥. Stay safe over there!
perkins v8 power . sound great .better than a cat engine .
10:08 we can't disagree on that!
It is crazy that this has a Perkins (ie British) diesel 8 cylinder!!! I bet you couldn't even get that in jolly old England.
