Kudos to you for being able to do all of this and have a system for doing so. My only "system" is taking spare pieces from sets, putting them in ziploc bags and labeling it by set. How then do you sort out the unique pieces like any and all accessory pieces that are left over from sets?

A most timely video. I have been reorganizing my drawers lately as well. The endless game of how far to breakdown the miscellany is hilarious. But I’ve finally emptied the cookie jar of spare parts. Haha. Keep up the amazing work Bricksie!!

Be sure to have LBG for the edges of your MILS plates on the road side, they show. You can fill the middle with all other colors. Everybody fails to mention that usually. I have to go back and redo some of mine. 😂

7:59 That desk thing is pretty cool that has that has the world map on it. The dots should be colored so you could build it with studs. With the one color it’s hard to see how many studs you need.

This just reminds me of all the sorting I have to do 😂. I first sort by color, and than break down by type. So I go to the color drawer, then specific type bin. I still have most of a 25 gal bin and some misc small trays to sort, lots of work!

Heya Bricksie ... low level starting sorter here; right now I have my separation in just circular plastic bins, but we bought a house (!) and have a basement room similar to yours that I'm hoping to make into a Lego room as well. Can you list out some of the things you use for your room, such as which plastic drawers & bins those are, the Ikea (?) tables and such, and particularly anything you used for things like the Bricksie Wall and minifigs hanging? I will never get anywhere near the level of you and your city, but I'd love to at least starting to have a real sorted system.

I have completely made the color a secondary sorting key if any. Primarily all parts are either sorted by the exact part (especially the smaller ones) or by categories. Only if a part exists in a very large quantity I add an additional sorting by the color. Only exception: Everything in the old Light Grey is kept separate, because that's to similar to the new LBG.

Omg lol I only had a quarter of that to sort . Took me hours a day. My favourite job though . I don’t have enough lego to sort them into colours and sizes but I have sorted them so I can find the odd bits or smaller bits more easily. I downloaded a plan from rebrickable and was trying to find the bits and gave up . Spent the last week re sorting my lego so now I should be able to find what I need . Wish I was there I would loved to have helped . Love from Australia.

Hey! I have a quick question for anyone who can answer. I was looking to buy the Batman collection lego, but it’s up for preorder only. Same with Thor’s hammer. Now the preordering doesn’t concern me, I’m just curious why it’s just those 2 sets that you have to pre order. Are they limited edition or something?

Oh man, I don't know how people can sit there and sort for hours, that's a lot. I looked at prices for those storage drawers and they are expensive, Canadian tire was like $20 or something for one. I hope to do the same, start small then eventually order parts to grow the collection, although I don't know what parts I would start off with. Eventually I want to do a city, but currently don't have a lot of space, however I'd still like a part wall to be able to sit down and build mocs of various things. One moc I am working on the computer studio is a 65 impala, I hope once it's done to order the parts to build it. That said if anyone can give advice, what parts or types of parts would be best to just start out collecting, (I'm not parting out my sets).
