God, the Long Walk with Alisaie and Alphinaud was tough. Those two sweet children, who have literally been with us from the very beginning, still standing by our side as we walk forward. There's no way they didn't know what would be required of them at that point. We all knew. And regardless of whatever faith they may have had, there were no guarantees. That we'd win, that the rest of the way wouldn't be blocked by yet more insurmountable barriers, that there was any way back. But we, the Warrior of Light, are forced to place an utterly unreasonable burden upon their narrow shoulders as they in turn set another on ours. "You open the way, and I'll carry all of us through." Who could have known, on that cart in the middle of the Twelveswood, that it would end like this?

The moment we lost Estinien and we got instrumentals, I started tearing up. But the moment that G'raha sacrificed himself after giving his speech about the meaning of life and how to move forward, I lost it. I legit had to pause for a moment, and seeing both the Twins waiting there for me to do the walk, I couldn't do it anymore. After the Twins had left me all by myself, and being forced to do the Endwalker segment, I couldn't believe how magical the experience was. Ardbert's voice of having my back to finally ending the path with, "Let's finish this." was so powerful. I swear I haven't cried this much during a game (besides RDR2), the remaining hours of finishing Endwalker will never, ever be forgotten. What an amazing expansion. How I wish I can experience all of this again.

This was me! Had cried after Estinien left us. Had an 8hr recovery (work) jumped back into it after being informed it gets worst. Come back and Urainger and Y’shotla got poofed and I tested up but was able to hold up. Got to G’raha’s sacrifice and it broke me down completely in tears. Three of my friends jumped on discord to comfort me through the rest of the story because I wasn’t going to be able to continue on my own.

And the distortion of the music all falling away as G'raha spoke, combined with the quest names being made of funky characters up until that point, where it all just peels away and says "Hello World"... it was a very cathartic moment for me. After a few minutes to let the tears fall (and absorb the lyrics), I felt a new resolve wash over me. I wouldn't let them down.

I feel the same way about To The Edge, particularly after Soken's cancer story. It was already my favorite track in the game on account of the melody and lyrics, amplified by the story around the trial itself. But then Soken opened up to us about his fight, and suddenly the song was so... HEAVY. I can't help but get emotional when I listen to it, and same with Close In The Distance. I can't separate these two songs from the context surrounding them, and while I think they're better for it, it makes them hard to listen to! Final Fantasy XIV is such a special game, man.

This is the most beautiful use of dynamic music I've seen in a long time. Throughout this segment of the game your companions are sacrificing themselves to bring something to the edge of the universe that we took for granted on Etheirys. Oxygen, wind, light, crystal, hope, a path forward. As we press on against despair, against oblivion, knowing that to lose sight of our goal will see our very soul trapped and kept from ever being born anew, every step washes away another layer of despair, and with it another layer of distortion. We move from one shattered memory of a race long gone to another, seeing these broken constructs of dynamis take our closest friends from us at every turn. And even when this song of hope is silenced, one more sacrifice, one more push forward gives us the strength to walk alone unto journey's end, with this song ringing loud once again and memories of our friends to give us strength. We forged ahead. We did it.

Honestly I have never related to a song so hard. While I do feel it when losing our friends, real life makes it hit hard everytime. 4 years ago my younger brother was murdered, it took me a long time to be able to get up and look forward to the day. But this has truly helped me in ways unimaginable. When I first heard that one lyric; "Through you we live," I broke down. It made me realize that even though he's gone he still lives on through me. All of my memories of him are engraved on my heart. I couldn't continue to live like that and I refused to dishonor him by reducing his life to that one moment anymore. I have to forge ahead to the end because in the end I still have a life left to live.

God, the zones with the Dragonstar and the Omicrons hit me so freaking hard after having done everything before shadowbringers and having seen Omega.Think about this poor bastard of a machine lifeform, having scoured the entire universe looking to fulfill its society's purpose of evolution through combat, not knowing that such a thing literally brought ruin to its own race. Omega's revelation at the end of the end of the raids having come way too late to help save his people from oblivion. And at the same time, Midgardsormr's race was also destroyed in the wake of the war for the dragonstar. Two entire civilizations gone entirely extinct from pointless war and suffering, with the only people who could've changed the course now the sole survivors. It's so goddamn tragic. Just imagine the mental burden on Midgardsormrin our timeline thinking he's the only person who remembers both the Omicrons AND the Dragonstar race. After all, Midgardsormr would not recognize the wind-up Omega as our boi until the 8th umbral calamity timeline, when he was awoken by the crystal tower traveling through time, as he was put back into slumber in the Omega raids. Imagine how he felt in that timeline, seeing that Omega found the hope his people lacked, but knowing they both can't go back in time and stop their civilizations from dying in a pointless conflict. It's just so fucking sad, and yet, after Meteion's rehabilitation, we see a glimmer of hope for the two civilizations, as their echoes in Ultima Thule suddenly break out of their haze and begin desiring to live again. Even if its just literally running a restaurant at the edge of the universe, it's beautiful to see that Omega's legacy will not be left to die in the past, and that Midgardsormr can maybe sleep a little more peacefully. Two tales of loss coming to a hopeful conclusion, hopefully one expanded upon by the beast tribe quests for Endwalker. Here's hoping we get to interact with the Ea and Omicrons some more especially.

Rubble idly falls into void below. Air stale, air that should not be but is. Silhouettes in the distance. Lumbering creatures, winged and terrible. Yet they remain motionless. Further ahead, more, yet not. Something wrong, but there all the same. They care not. They cannot. One speaks: _Fall. Surrender. This whole part of the game was immensely thoughtful. I wish I could send a box of chocolate to everyone involved in writing this, it is a beautiful narrative. You and your friends already have decided what you stand for what you are going to do. It's not about risk, but resolve. Should it prove an impossible task in the end, everyone would perish but would never stop being true to what they are, as the Scions make clear in each of their passing. This is what even the Final Days can't take from them. That's why also there is no time for mourning (as the lyrics say), for there wont even be people to mourn the ones who sacrificed themselves for other's future. And in the last stride, you walk instead of running, because you are not desperate, you are resolved. And you are not alone either, for your road until here was paved by the beliefs that everyone shared with you.

I personally think Graha's sacrifice adding the lyrics makes sense. He was noted as a bard during the crystal tower questline, so him adding the lyrics out of the scions makes the most sense. It also makes the pure silence of the nekropolis so much more heavy.

@@Alex-lg8oo Ishikawa did mention the song was in the perspective of one of the Scions, and people ended up narrowing it down to G'raha... where after his sacrifice is when the vocals kick in.

I was sad for all the deaths…but the twins are what broke me. I think that in my life, the thing I’ve always wanted to be is a father. Those two kids that I watched grow became sorta like that to me. They weren’t buddies on equal footing, they were kids learning in the worst of circumstances. In that brief moment of uncertainty where I didn’t know if they would live or not…it broke me into a crying mess. I think it’s one of the hardest gut punches I’ve had in a game

I had a smile on my face all the way through this zone, even at the parts where everyone else was crying, for a personal reason. There was a line from Ghosts of Tsushima that helped me put the loss of my father behind me. "Your father is the wind at your back." It really stuck with me, to the point where things that some people see as burdens, I see as a kind of driving force. So as worried as I was after we found out what happened to Thancred and when Estinien disappeared, the moment that wind blew through, I knew it was all gonna work out. Walk on, never look back. Through you, we live. :)

Whenever I feel pain, sadness, or pain in my heart, I always come back to this video. It's because when I first heard this song, I felt a sense of loss, and even so, I felt like I had the courage to move forward. If you don't mind, please share these words with Masayoshi Soken.

I loved how Close in the Distance just started sounding as if we were tuning in a broken, old radio we found somewhere, and the closer we got to the only working signal the more prominent and complete the song became overall.

Honestly each of these songs perfectly fit the scenes they play in. At least for me. The first theme meshed beautifully with how entranced I was with the area around me. The stars frozen in time mid-collapse, the strangely familiar but alien sky, the ghostly dragons. And with the music on top of all of that, it had me confused, but in total awe. The second theme was when I first started getting goosebumps, the slightly somber tones telling you "it hurts, we know, but you gotta keep going." while still keeping the awe from the first scene. And the third theme... Holy fuck... When Raha said "Promise me" I knew exactly what was coming. It's not the first time he's asked us to do something with before he 'dies'. But it had me shook. I had to get up and walk around my house to calm down. And when he disappeared, and the crystals filled the sky, giving us a clear path forward, and the music started.... I wasn't ready. Not the first time I cried in Endwalker, but definitely the first time I broke down. It was just an emotional attack. Definitely an finale of a song. Thank you Soken.

This is one of the most impactful piece of music I have ever encountered in my entire life. The music itself gives you hope on keep going even if all seems lost, the lyrics is meaningful to all the players that have been on the journey to the end. this song gives me chills and when the chorus hits I burst into tear every time. Stellar work Soken-san and folks who created this historical piece of music! also thank you Yoshi-P and the dev team for making the best MMORPG this world has ever experienced

This zone's music, art and story tells the ultimate humanist tale and in my opinion is the pinnacle of collective art and storytelling that humanity has ever achieved to this point in history. If only everyone had access to this as much as the epic of gilgamesh or beethovens symphonies or Picassos art. This is a part of my life that I will never forget being able to experience.
