Fun fact : The lyrics describes Odin and his horse Sleipnir. Ten feet run (Sleipnir 8 + Odin 2) Three eyes (Sleipnir 2 + Odin 1) One [Tail] (Sleipnir 1)

@yoshikagekira3707 the feet is definitely right but I don't think "one" refers to a tail? Pretty sure the line is supposed to run on so in meaning it's more like "three eyes, and one trained upon victory" as in the third eye of foresight (hence the next line being simply "foreseen") - I think its a reference to barnabas' conviction and faith Edit: although apparently in myth Odin sacrificed an eye for enhanced perception so it could just be referencing that, or its a deliberate double meaning. Either way the lyrics in all of this soundtrack are awesome

@@eccochan The first part of the lyrics is a reference to a riddle contest from 'The Saga of King Heidrek the Wise' Then said Gestumblindi: Who are those twain that on ten feet run, three their eyes are but only one tail? This riddle ponder, O prince Heidrek! 'Thus it is,' said the king, 'when Ódin rides upon Sleipnir.' So I think 'one' might refer to a tail of Sleipnir. And about the second part, I don't really know. Never played FF16 tho. Yes, the lyrics of this game's choir soundtrack is bloody awesome.

@yoshikagekira3707 oh cool! Thanks for sharing, that makes a lot of sense especially with the title of the track being The Riddle. For such a short set of lyrics it feels so steeped in meaning, this makes me love it all the more! And I highly recommend the game if you get a chance to play it! 😊
Who would win? A man blessed with the power of a phoenix, a fiery demon, and the powers of many mighty entities, or a Jehovah's Witness with a BIG sword and a horse?

Barnabas’s theme is insanely intimidating. It really helps sell him as a major threat.

He doesn't even need to be in his Eikon form - just powering up and ranting like a lunatic - to make it clear that he's so far above your other foes that it isn't even funny.

I was too busy getting my butt stomped the first time to realize how amazing "The Riddle" actually is as a song. It's absolutely hype. Soken did amazing things with this game.
No matter how much they successfully hyped up odin and Barnabas, I was skeptical that anything could top the bahamut fight. But when that final phase theme kicked in and he started laughing like Mark hamill, I was sold. The warrior king who had forgotten his bloodlust, holy shit...
The timestamp names are killin me lmao

A shame he didn't include a timestamp that said "least insane combat sexual person"
I absolutely love the "Sever" part of his theme, idk why, but it has that very FF-esque motif towards the end of each chorus where the notes go up and sounds very melancholy but almost hopeful, it reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on.
The riddle is my favorite dominant boss track in the game and combined with one of my favorite villains in the game it was the most fun I’ve ever had playing a game.
The Riddle is so engaging and amazing i can't believe it
The whole soundtrack for the game is superb, and I recently fought Barnabus muself recently, and the final phase is just intimidating as all hell. When Barnabus - who until then had been calm and collected and almost bored, even as he effortlessly destroys whoever dares to stand before him - suddenly begins to start laughing and ranting like a lunatic as he powers himself up for the final clash, now that he's finally come across a worthy opponent. It makes him even more intimidating than when he's in his Odin form. "Show me your worth Mythos....THAT I MIGHT REVEL IN IT!!!"
The Sever part is an all timer for me, what are we thinking folks?

Finally the soundtrack is out. I can't wait for the songs and the lovely names that you are going to give in each section.
Final Phase is incredible
Fighting Odin is probably the most badass thing you can do in Final Fantasy
You really manage to capture the rhythm of these massive ingame moments with these mixes, fantastic! I hope we can get more FF16 mixes down the road.
Barnabas might just be my favorite character ever and he didn't even get muhc screen time lmao
I wish we would have gotten proper Odin vs Ifrit fight like with Bahamut and Titan. I felt like we swiped by Odin too fast...
Insane
Wait did i just heard a ff3 overworld soundtrack in the intro of the song?

Man with the power of a fiery demon from hell vs The Warden of Darkness
The blade must ever feed if her edge is to remain keen. Butcher...! What care you for these worthless creatures? They are nothing. Weak from the moment of their conception, ever longing for powers not theirs to command, they turn unfailingly upon themselves. Like sheep, they roam in filthy flocks, ever eager to trample those few gifted a fleece of gold. All that they might feel contentment with their pitiful existence. Persecution and prejudice. Severance and strife... Every earthly wrong springs from the malice in men's hearts. Malice born from the pain and suffering that is free will. Its corruption has gnawed at your being from the very moment of your birth. You're wrong. It is no corruption. It is who I am. Every choice I make - right or wrong - gives me reason to carry on. And carry on I shall. Not as a puppet, but as a man. Which are you?!
A great theme, more of a grower than the others
0:00-1:20 never thought the FF1 world Map theme could sound so Sinister. xD

"What was it all for!? You choose to be NOTHING!? AAAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH"
You guys feel like Odin's theme is called The Riddle as a reference to the 1982 Conan the Barbarian film? - The Riddle being The Riddle of Steel; - Odin wields a lot of skills with Steel in their name (Blinding Steel, Dancing Steel, etc), - Barnabas is a warrior-king, just like Conan becomes; - The battle is essentially about one's will to persevere, which is the answer to the Riddle of Steel; and - Not to mention that Odin's design kind of has a Frank Frazetta feel to it (see his 'Death Dealer' artwork) Food for thought

I believe it's a reference to an old Norse riddle involving Odin where a man is asked: "what rides on ten feet, with two eyes and one tail?" The answer is Odin riding his eight-legged horse Sleipnir. Those same words are used in the lyrics at 10:03.
Awesome mix! Will any of these mixes go up on MEGA?

As much as I would love to do that, I don’t think Square Enix would appreciate that, considering their history of taking down videos such as these. Better to play it safe.
What happened to the chapters?
Stealth 100
Is the introduction a theme from ff4? Starting from about :25
Love it! Missing Ultimalius though.
