I contacted USCCA who as a membership perk gives 3 million in liability insurance already if they felt that maryland would accept that insurance as satisfactory. Their response was that while they didn't have an answer as of yet, but their feelings was that maryland would not accept it.

The language in the document says the carrier must be "licensed in the state" is important. It means that Excess and Surplus insurers cannot jump into the market to fill any holes left open by traditional carriers. In addition, the Maryland Department of Insurance is a giant PITA to deal with from an insurers perspective. No carrier is going to do anything to piss them off.

Yep, even if this passes I can't imagine it standing up in the courts. This is just another attempt to make people double think buying a gun so they can at least slow the growth of gun ownership.

@@deuceandguns This has to be the most unconstitutional gun control bill on the books. I'm also scared that private insurance companies will charge higher premiums or deny coverage all together all because of your political views. Imagine having to pay twice as more because you support Trump, so the insurance company puts you in a higher risk group.

Pretty sure the 2A doesn't come with a liability insurance requirement.

I'm in FL and our homeowners insurance doesn't cover the loss of firearms. You have to purchase a seperate policy specifically for firearms if you want them covered against loss in the event of a disaster or theft. Now, if I dropped a loaded firearm and it went off either on my property or out and about in public I'm not so sure they'd cover that since our homeowners insurance doesn't even recognize them as existing in the home. I'm not even sure if our auto insurance covers against loss of firearms if you're involved in a accident. Let's say you're on your way to the range, something happens, your vehicle catches on fire, and your guns go up in smoke or they are stolen etc.

I'll admit I dont know much about FL home policies but if you have a standard HO3 homeowners policy it has to specifically be excluded somewhere in your paperwork.

@@deuceandgunsI'm just stating what the insurance agent told us when we looking for homeowners insurance. I asked them if my firearms were covered and he said no, if I wanted to insure them against loss I'd would have to purchase a seperate policy from a company that insures firearms. I didn't ask them if we'd be insured for liability in the event of an accident involving a firearm. We even had to give them specific information pertaining to our dog, such as breed, weight etc, they probably wouldn't have insured us if we had a specific breed etc Seems as if insurance companies nowadays want to exclude every single thing they can

It's both company and state specific so you'll need to shop around for the coverage you want.

Let me guess, in order to ensure you, they have to have a list of every firearm you own including serial numbers?
