Brandon was Henry's frat brother. Escaping with his head was quite an accomplishment.

they were definitely best friends, more like brothers. I think he loved Charles Brandon more than ANYONE other than his son,

Also his daughter Frances was married to Henry Grey who was a great grandson of Elizabeth Woodville ..through her first marriage and we all know that she was married to King Edward IV so that makes Henry the VIII double related to his niece Francis. Because Elizabeth Woodville was married before. And of course the Tudor children were her grandchildren..by her oldest daughter Elizabeth of York and the Yorks had a Stronger claim to the throne than King Henry VII. Because his Mother Margaret was a direct descendent of John of gaunt and were as his children were born out of wedlock before he married their mother they were not even supposed to be in line to inherit the throne of England. The only reason why Henry Vii got the throne because of his wife..well also he defeated Richard III

Well not only that Henry and Charles were also close because Charles was raised in King Henry VII 's Court too so Henry and Charles were life long best friends too

@@susanbrand7503 plus ironically bishop fisher, whom Henry viii executed helped Margaret Beaufort legitimize Henry vii.
There aren’t many films focusing on her as the main protagonist her character often is relegated to a supporting role in most Tudor series and movies. There’s a vintage film from the 50s the sword and the rose that focuses solely on her and a more recent series by Showtime “the Spanish princess” that gives main supporting roles to her and Margaret Tudor, the grandmother to Mary of Scots whose marriage would to the unification of English and Scottish thrones.
I enjoy this video but you didn’t even mention her children, and being a mother was of the utmost importance back then (and still is). Mary was the grandmother to Lady Jane Grey, which is an interesting story if you haven’t told it. Art is lovely…. I’m off to binge your channel now
Great video and very interesting! For me Mary was a quite remarkable and stunning princess and queen and loyal friend to Catherine of Aragon, Queen of England.😃

Henry and Lizzie gave their children, an excellent education Henry VIII really loved his sister Mary and he loved Charles as a brother not a friend. Just like her great grandfather she dared to love a commoner as Edward loved Lady Elizabeth Woodville Grey.

I learned a lot today about Mary Tudor, a woman whom I thought I knew plenty about! She was one very blessed woman to be allowed to remain married to Charles Brandon without disastrous consequences. Thank you for your excellent work Jon! 👏

Mary's story would make a great movie
Disney's "The Sword and the Rose" with Richard Todd and Glynnis Johns told a highly fictionalized account of Mary Tudor's story.
Beautiful video, one of my favorite Tudor ladies! She was smart to orchestrate her own remarriage, whether for love or not, to return home instead of ending isolated in some foreign court. You left out the interesting bit of King Louis shipping Mother Guildford back to England, complaining the governess was limiting his 'access' to his young beautiful wife...piuhhh poor Mary!
i love love love royal history, never knew ole Henry had a sister lol only heard about all his murdered wives. To be honest I didn't like your style at first, your voice is so low i had to leave subtitles on, but as I watched more, the artwork you use is mesmerizing, and your voice, and accent won me over in the end, you really drew me in and made me feel warm n comfy, thanks bro lol *subscribed*

I read that Henry VIII was furious that Mary wed Brandon, but he eventually forgave them. I also read that Mary despised Anne Boleyn which no doubt caused her brother much grief. (For a little while anyway 😂) Love this channel!
She was so pretty wen she was younger. . I love history of the touders is soon cool!!!!😺
Sad that she died so young.
Mary was one of the few tutor women who defied her brother King Henry and lived with her neck intact. Also, doesn’t occur royal family trace their lineage to the tutors through her?
What they did was not good but good on Mary for defining him, even if it brought bad consequences
👍👏✌

Love your videos but cant watch. Background music is to distracting. I can barely hear the narrator.
En la serie Los Tudor aparece la hermana con el nombre de Margarita y era Maria ya que Margarita se caso con el rey de Escocia.. me sorprendió que alteraron la historia

@HistoryRoadshow What do you make of "The Sweating Sickness" ? Was it just a quick forming plague or did 20th century doctors ever figure out just what exactly it was? And what brought it on? The Tudors were blamed, as I'm sure you know, something about bringing sick Prisoners from France to fight at Bosworth. But I thought I'd ask My Professor ❤😊

The exact cause is still uncertain, though it is speculated that an unidentified strain of hantavirus may have been the culprit. Hope this helps, thanks for the comment 😊

Dreadful how women were used by men in those times.
How interesting, that women really were more important, well as important as men, yet were expected to play such small rolls in their own lives. She was daring to take the bold step of marrying whom she loved, rather than whom she was told to marry! Lol. Sounds exactly like my kind of girlfriend. I’d never have survived, because as soon as a man tried telling me what to do, the battle of wills, and endurance, would be on. Lol
私は、ジェーングレイが、大好きです。そのばあちゃんだ😮
Ai art corrt?!
By today's standards would she be considered a beauty?
Charles Brandon "Demonic Affiliations" Yeah if he were in League with the Devil, I seriously doubt he would stop at a Dukedom.
AD HORROR ALERT 🚨
I am not a big fan of the Tudors. I think they did serious harm to the English people. The English fought over religion for hundreds of years. I really resent what they did to the Irish.

Find the Tudors fascinating King HenryV11 turned into quite an evil man could have been caused by syphilis which they said can attack the brain obviously in those days they had no such drugs as penicillin to cure it but he was the Father of Queen Elizabeth 1 who was a very intelligent and interesting woman

@@cassandrarose11 Have you a clue where “ woke” came from? It was used in the early 29th century to refer to black people who recognized the need to fight for equal rights. As time went on it was applied to anyone involved in the Civil Rights movement. As someone who marched with King, I consider being called “woke” a compliment.
