Mary the Mother of Jesus
In the first chapter of Matthew, we read of the genealogy of Jesus Christ including five mothers who each played a critical role in continuing the bloodline of the Savior, but most significant is the literal mother of the Savior, Mary. We are introduced to her before Christ is born, learn of her tender experiences with Him during His life and ministry, and discover she was a witness of His death and a disciple after His ascension to the Father. Only Mary, the mother of Jesus, can claim to be such a unique witness of the Messiah.

@@Paul-ek5lu yes Eve was their mother before being born again but after being born again from the baptism of our lord Christ Jesus their old self has died And with them also died thier seed of sin, the seed of Adam and Eve, hence eve is no longer our mother (no disrespect to eve tho,😅 this is just my opinion 👍).

Eve is our fallen mother this is true, however God is a good and loving God which is why Mary is the new Eve, the Mother of the New Covenant, the Mother of God, and Jesus loves us so much that He gave Mary to us as He died. Behold your mother. Don't be afraid to love Mary because you'll never love her more than Jesus does and all she does is magnify her Son for us so we can see Him more clearly.

Indeed God chose a good woman to look after The Son just as He chose a good man as His dad, both had faith in Him before He was born which along with their bloodlines is the reason He chose them. They were certainly the best man and woman around for those roles. Now they are asleep awaiting the return of their God.

Yes. Thank you. I believe she was given to us by Jesus as our spiritual mother. As Jesus was agonising in that dreadfull cross He gave Mary to the care of His beloved disciple. Catholics believe that in doing so, Jesus was really entrusting His beautifull Mother to each one of His beloved brothers and sisters, all of us, mankind, until His second coming and the end of times. I believe there can be no loving to much Mary because no matter how deep is our love for her, Jesus' love for her is always deeper than our love. Also I believe that the more we love Mary the more we please her Son, our Savior, our Beginning and our End, our Lord God Jesus.

@@Dante-vf4sd I rejoice in your answer because I think just like you. Except that I believe that Mary and Joseph are alive forever in Haven, ready to assist us any time we ask them for help in our struggles to choose the narrow door to the Kingdom. I beleive in the Comunion of Saints. :)

Mary's Magnificat has a very strong indication of the Almighty's Love and her Joy for having favoured her to having conceived JESUS by the Power of the Holy Spirit 🙏 Amen

Imagine how she felt watching her first born being beaten spat on name calling then whipped and scorching then hung on a cross with a Crown of thorns and are dislocated and spear in his side. Poor Mary. So so terribly for her. 😪😪😪 that's why God chose Mary 🙏 because she knew what he came and died for. Our sin. Thank you jesus 🙌 🙏 ❤

Like many who do not understand the difference between respect and worship you think Catholics worship The Blessed Virgin , not so we honour and show respect because of all the women who have ever lived she was chosen by God to bring his presence to earth to save mankind.

IMHO Mary amongst all women she is blessed. For this reason she is one of the Saints we Catholics pray to her. When the Archangel appeared to her, a virgin, she said YES, without hesitation.

I just started crying when I saw Jesus getting Crucified and bowed in my Knees and started-asking for forgiveness and crying and repenting I hope my God had heard me repent for your sins
I get a sensation I can't describe at the point Mary is asking his son to perform a miracle and Jesus' obedience to her. There is a certain richness, holiness & beauty about this. Thank you for taking me on journey through Mary's lens.

1) Jesus never called Mary mother He always called Her “woman”. 2) Mary is NOT our “Mother” for we have one Father and that is the Lord Jesus Christ, and Mary is NOT equal to God! Mary is our SISTER IN CHRIST! She CANNOT bring us closer to God!

@@bhs3871 I agree with you. Mary is our sister in Christ, she is the earthly mother of the flesh of Christ. But she is not the "Mother of God"! God is Spirit and has no mother. Nor is she the "Queen of heaven" she is a servant just like us, we will be like lords in heaven but not a Queen or a King. Jesus is the only King and nonstand besides Him! Mary was blessed, yes, she is our sister in Christ, yes, she was a vessel used to bring in the Son, yes, but she is nothing more. Do not create statues of her, don't bow down to her, don't pray to her, don't over glorify her. For that is worship. Don't love Mary more than you love the LORD, Jesus Christ!

I can empathize with Mary. I had to bury my youngest daughter shortly after her birth... She would be turning 14 this year... Then 4 months ago, I lost my first love- my Dad... My heart broke all over again... People say "Your Dad was 80 years old and had lived his life," but as his youngest daughter, I wasn't ready to let him go. Yet I know that both my Dad and my little girl are in Heaven waiting on me as they have taken the places that Jesus prepared for them and eventually I will. Thank You Lord...

There is no proof that she was 14. Under new comments you can find the sources I post and all those reliable sources stated most Jewish girls in ancient Israel typically married after 15, but before 20, so so Mary was mostly like older then 14. The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Bible and Gender Studies edited by Julia M. O'Brien page 52-55 points out that Palestinian Jewish girls typically married after 17 and the Babylonian after 13. It is not the only source to say so. Mary was more likely to be 16-18 then 12-14.

This was also Jesus speaking to Us as Gods' Children. We from then on were to take Jesus' Mother into Our homes too. And whether You like it or not Our Holy Mother is the Most Beautiful, Humble, Perfect Creature, who is now a Saint in Heaven and Queen of the Holy Angels. We are to take the Virgin Mary into Our Hearts as Well as Jesus "King of Kings." They cannot be separated. The video is appreciated just inaccurately disrespectful in the sense that our blessed mother is in fact the Queen of Heaven and blessed Virgin. She is the mother of Jesus and the Blessed Virgin. Everything else was splendid.
Mary was a sinner just like the rest of us. She needed to turn (repent) from whatever she trusted in before to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
So love your insights. Your calm sure voice also makes your presentations a pleasure to listen too. I look forward to your future lessons.

Although Mary was the woman chosen and surely blessed we are not to pray to her, we pray directly to JESUS. Only JESUS CAN SAVE us.

I dont want to seem mean, but mary cant answer your prayers and Catholics are very misguided. The only person that will answer your prayers is God and you can only be saved by Jesus

No: The term brother/ sister could also mean cousin in Greek. If you read with attention you will see that those who are called his "brothers" are in other scriptural passegges called sons of another marx/ woman. Mary is a perpetual virgin!

Sorry that that part disappointed you. I do my best to write scripts that lead the person to a stronger faith in Christ, and occasionally I will directly make applications to the person. Just the way I do things. But also glad to hear you have enjoyed the videos! Many more in the works.

The Blessed Mother had no other children but Jesus. At the time of the resurrection, when Jesus told Mary Magdalena, to go tell his brothers, she went to His apostles.

No one said she was above women. She exalts women with her. By being the perfect woman, she imparts a glorious dignity upon all women and all femininity.
I wonder what Mary is doing on the other side of the veil now? She had a unique mission in mortality, maybe she has an equally unique role now.

That's just not true. The Gospels make it very clear that Mary and Joseph had children together after the birth of Jesus. In Matthew 13: 54-56, the townsfolk of Capernaum mention Jesus' brothers by name, and in John 7: 1-5, we see that those brothers were not always believers, yet they are still referred to as "brothers." Read your Bible. You have either not understood what you have read or you have been taught incorrectly.

Sue M Imagine a glorious artist who creates a glorious piece of art. If you admire that art does it add or detract to the glory of the artist? Does the artwork point to it’s creator or to itself? If Mary leads us to Jesus, she is surely co-redemptrix. Co-redemptrix has never meant or inferred Mary to be greater than Jesus. That would be totally impossible of course.... how can an artwork be greater than its creator?

In the Eastern churches the verse @8:50 is read as "Woman, behold thy Son...". Christ first reminds Mary that He will always be her Son before instructing John that she is to be his mother. When Christ was on the cross, He gave His mother into the care of the beloved disciple John. Had Mary had any other children (or even any step-children by Joseph's previous marriage), they would have been required to care for Mary after Jesus was no longer on the earth. So as Jesus gave His mother into the care of another man, it can be deduced that Mary had no other children. In Hebrew, the words brothers and sisters can refer to one's close relatives. This is why Abraham and Lot are called brothers even though he was uncle, and Isaac truthfully (though deceptively) calls Rebekah his sister even though they were cousins. So the brothers of Christ mentioned in the Gospels could have been His cousins. Indeed, this is the only way the text can be understood in light of a cultural understanding of the time.

Please open your eyes! John was his spiritual brother! Jesus gives importance to his spiritual family! He said it himself Who is my mother,brother and sister? Those who obey the word of God! Look it up yourself and focus only on Jesus our only Saviour!!!
I'm catholic. I was enjoying so much this teaching until you said Mary had had more children. Mary was and is forever a Virgen because she was chosen to be Jesus mother. Just because there are no impossibles to God. And she is His only fisical mother. I understand why you believe it as you said, but if you just stop attentively before the Lord in prayer, if you study the early Church Fathers, you will understand that these brothers an sisters of Jesus' where mere relatives, as so often appears designated in Holy Scripture. Thanks anyway for the devoted work that I can sense you put on this meditations. I can see how much you love Mary and how much you adore Jesus. So we too, you and I, are siblings. :) God bless.

Ana, thanks for the kind note and being willing to share your thoughts. My basis is from Matthew 1:25 which states of Joseph "But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus." In other words, once Jesus was born, Joseph had marital relations with Mary. I don't know any other way to interpret this, and I prefer to take the word of the Bible over the church fathers. I'm well aware of the arguments, but to me the statement could not be more clear that Mary had other children. That said, I also very much respect your belief, but am simply responding with the reason I use the wording I use.

I must tell you though that our translation of that verse is: "Joseph did what the angel of the Lord ordered to him and received his spouse. And, without him having known her before, she gave birth to a son, to whom he named Jesus". Please excuse my english. I'm portuguese. But even if I ran in any misspelling this is exactly what our Bible says. It does not leave any room to infer any afterwards. It just refers to what happen on Jesus' conception and birth. Really if Jesus had had brothers, don't you think Jesus, in the midst of His terrible agony on the cross, would leave the care oh his mother to them, and not to John?

@@anacristinamiguel5113 So if you look at the original Greek word ἐγίνωσκεν it means "to know" which is always used for marital relations. You "know" your wife to bear a child. So the original Greek says that Joseph did not "know" her, or have sex with her, until Jesus was born. You can see many translations here (sadly in English) and they all have the same message of Joseph having sex with Mary once Jesus was born. biblehub.com/matthew/1-25.htm

As for your question on why Jesus leaves Mary to John and not the brothers, it seems from references like John 7:1-5 that the brothers of Jesus did not believe that Jesus was the Christ and did not support him. It would make sense that Mary (who supported Jesus 100%) would turn his mother over to John, and not brothers who had rejected him and his teachings. And I should note, many say these "brothers" are "brothers" in the gospel, or cousins. The problem is the original Greek word, ἀδελφοὶ means "A brother, member of the same religious community, especially a fellow-Christian. A brother near or remote." So it either means "brother" as in an actual brother (not a cousin) or it means a brother from the same religious community. Well, these "brothers" don't believe in Jesus, so they would not be called a "brother" in the same religious community. That means the only other option is a biological brother. Could it be a half brother (from Joseph not Mary)? I don't know enough about the Greek word to say yes or no, but the problem is the scriptures never mention another marriage by Joseph, or a first wife. This does not start showing up until about 200 years later in any church writings. So again, I take the Bible over documents written 200 years later. Does this mean that I don't respect the early church fathers, absolutely not. But if the Bible clearly teaches one thing, and they say something else, I go with Matthew who was an eye witness. Hope that helps. Again, I really am OK with people believing that Mary was always a virgin, so just responding. I hope you don't take it as an attack, because that is not my purpose. Just stating why I wrote what I wrote for the script.

In my believe James was just one of those "brothers" of Jesus. So he could very well take care of Mary and also believe in Jesus as our Lord and only Savior. Any way, my belief in the eternal virginity of Mary is linked to my worshipping Jesus. I think that Mary stayed a virgin because she is the Mother of God, the predestined child of the Father and the spouse of the Holy Spirit. And why did God kept her a Virgin? Because He could and wanted to: She was and forever shall be His only phisical mother. He could do it and she wanted to be His, just His forever. So, nothing is impossible to God. :) As the angel said to her. I believe in the Bible and I believe also in the teachings of the tradition and in the magisterium of the Catholic Church. Peace be with you. :) No one changes their mind because of one conversation. But it was nice to talk to you. What's your name? It is mentioned in scripture that Jesus had brothers and sisters, but in those days even cousins could also be referred to as the brothers or sisters of someone!

@@thomasdoherty7840 there are different words to define cousins or kinsman. The word for brother/sister is (Male Adelphos ) (Female Adelphoi) these Greek words literally mean "From the Womb". The definition of cousin/kinsman is Anepsios.

Nowhere in the scriptures does it say that Mary did not have other children. The people of Nazareth refer to Jesus's family with the exception of His sisters by Name.

That's not true. There were other children with Joseph. Did you forget about His brother James?

Matthew 1:25 states that Joseph had marital relations with Mary after the birth of Jesus. Generally, this leads to more children (especially from a young woman who already shows she can have children). Several other passages mention brothers and sisters of Jesus. I'd be happy to give you those references as well if you want.

@@rafaeljonathanmonterrosoca8400 This word "know" refers to sex in the Bible. There are many examples in the Old Testament, for example, Genesis 4:1 which says Adam knew Eve and gave birth to Cain. Other examples include Numbers 31:17, Numbers 31:35, or 1 Kings 1:4 where David did not "know" the damsel. Did he know her as in talk with her and do things with her "know her" as a person, yes, but that is not what the text is talking about. When you "know" your spouse in the Bible, it always means sexually. Passages that talk about other children of Mary and Joseph include Mark 6:3, Matthew 13:55-56, and John 7:3. Yes, there is a lot of debate on these verses, but my main issue is Matthew 1:25 says Joseph "knew" or had sexual relations with Mary, and there is not a single verse in the Bible that mentions that Mary was perpetually a virgin. Without a verse like this, I have to go with what the actual text of the Bible states. Until someone can share a verse that states that Mary never had other children, I just have to go with the fact that there is just far too much evidence to show that she did have other children. I well know the arguments, I have studied them a lot before publishing this video, but I just am not convinced. I yet have had anyone tell me of a verse that definitely proves that Mary never had any other children. It is all just speculation or later tradition.

Jesus did not have any brother and sisters! On the cross Jesus asked his disciple 'John' to look after his mother, and John took her to live with him; if Jesus had siblings, by Jewish custom, his siblings would have been duty bound to look after mother. It was also common to greet both cousins and friends as 'brother' and 'sister'.

Where in scripture does it say that Jesus did not have any other siblings? Matthew 1:25 clearly states that Joseph had marital relations with Mary after the birth of Jesus. So to me, it is pretty clear, Joseph and Mary had other children that were their own. When you have marital relations, kids come. As for why Mary would be turned over to John, the scriptures don't tell us, but most likely because the scriptures do tell us (John 7:1-5) that Jesus' brothers did not believe in him. So it makes perfect sense for Jesus to turn Mary over to John (who is likely a relative) instead of her sons who did not (at this point) believe in Christ.

Problem is that we are stuck with bad translation of original bible, if we would read in original greek language we would understeand that it is written there that she was virgin before and after. She is Virgin Mary our Heavenly Mother and when Our Lord was on cross He gave His Mother to John to be Mother to us all.. it is really dangerous to read Bible just woth our eyes, without Gods blessing of understeanding we tend to make a lots of mistakes. Thats why i would suggest to read books from saints that had gift of deeper understanding of bible..God bless you

If you study the customs of the Jews, Jesus would never have entrusted his Mother to John if he had any blood siblings. Mary remained a virgin. Who would dare to touch the “Ark of the Covenant”...

I also did some research as well. They said that in those times there were no definite family names like Aunt and uncle and cousins. Everyone was referred to as brother and sisters. But I agree the translations over the years have made this very confusing.

@@messagesofChrist Thank you for this post! Luke was a careful recorder. As a doctor, how could he not be? If Mary had been a perpetual virgin, he would have included it. One single verse could establish it. It is obvious from the text that Mary had other children, despite the tendency of some to virgin-worship. Also, John outlived all the other disciples. Jesus knew best whom to commit his mom too. Let's not invent more to insert into the text than is already there.
