I hate how EVERYONE is saying they came here from Reign or something among those lines. Reign is HIGHLY inaccurate. Most Reign fans don't know a bit about the REAL Mary Queen of Scots. I best inform you all as well. Mary queen of Scots had red hair. She was said to be so beautiful that anyone would fall inlove with her. Her head did not fall off at the first strike, so she mostly bleed to death. She wore a wig to her beheading, so when the executor took raise her head, he grabbed the wig instead and Mary's head roled towards thd croud. She wore a RED dress to her beheading for it is the color of martyrs. All of her ladies in waiting were named Mary. She was a YOUNG teenager when she married the young dufanè of France. Francis never had a bastard brother. Francis died of an ear infection, not being stabbed. And so much more that I encourage everyone to learn. Edit: Okay guys, I'm not hating on Reign. I like the series, people are just being idiots! And the people who are saying they already know what I said, good for you! I am just telling everyone else.

Plus the clothing! Ugh, the dresses pissed me off because there was no way they would wear low cut dresses. Reign was inaccurate but did get some details right. She certainly was pregnant by Louis but miscarried and she was also raped.

This is already in accurate Mary and Elizabeth never met.

Why does Mary Queen of Scots have a Scottish accent? That's not historically accurate. She grew up in France. She didn't go to Scotland until she was an adult. She shouldn't have a Scottish accent.

She grew up in French court, but she had a Scottish governess. Writings about her said she had a Scots accent. She also had natural auburn hair.

Mary wasn't quite this arrogant. She respected Elizabeth's queenship, and expected the same in return.

I wouldn't say she respected it. She wanted it. She (stupidly) accepted the title of Queen of England when Mary Tudor died, (she was in France at the time) never stopping to think of the consequences of insulting Elizabeth. After returning to Scotland, she was constantly pressuring Elizabeth to make her the heir, despite being Catholic. She ignored Elizabeth's advice after Darnley's murder, when Elizabeth was the only one who was actually fairly sympathetic to her. (Everyone else - France, Spain, etc seemed to assume she was in on the murder)

@@happybkwrm , it's not so simple... You're right for some reasons but Mary was not totaly stupid. In theory, she could pretend to the throne and assert her rights... His fault was to continue doing it til the end... She made too many mistakes, ignored the danger and the warnings, yes. But as her cousin, she was king's daughter, sacred queen in the eyes of god. Impossible for her to escape her Destiny.

The problem was that she was surrounded by trecherous, self serving men who used her position as Queen and authority for their own ends, and once she outlived her use she was discarded by said men. A sad, tragic life of a young Queen woefully unprepared for the politics of her time and made herself the enemy of a Tudor - sealing her fate from the very beginning.

A two minute trailer that feels like a saga...

OMG I'm never been so excited in my entire life before! It's gonna be blast!

First thing I can point out that is wrong is that Mary and Elizabeth NEVER MET FACE TO FACE.

If they would've given Adelaide red hair and let her character die with the red dress as Mary did as a catholic martyr, then i would say Adelaide was the best Mary, Queen of Scots just like I say Natalie Dormer played the absolute best Anne Boleyn. With that being said, this looks like it'll be a pretty good film. Another Hollywood inaccurately depicting history for the sake of drama, but I'm still watching this like I watched Reign.

I find it funny how so many people are complaining, "This is so inaccurate! Mary and Elizabeth never met!" or "I'm not watching this because it's inaccurate!" And yet, most of these people are Reign fans. I can't help but laugh at the thought. How stupid are people these days? Reign is one of the most inaccurate shows in history (literally)! And yet you're saying this is inaccurate! Please, this is the most accurate an entertaining movie can get!

I am all for diversity in casting , being mixed race , but it is absolutely fine for casting to be kept historically accurate the inclusion of a Chinese Bess of Hardwick and black ladies in waiting and black members of the privy council are just silly. I have a masters in Tudor History and this has completely spoiled the authenticity of the film for me ! I'm sad because I've been looking forward to it for ages , but now it seems like a budget tv version (where casting is usually far less strict)

And if all these other inconsistencies are present, yet you focus on how having people of color truly is what makes this unbelievable to you, I'm gonna throw some side-eye. You were the one who "brought race into it", I did not mention your race at all. Because I see you also did not mention Mary's Scottish accent (although I thought that she was taught English by Scottish educators? This may be way off though, presumably you know more of that detail than I do!), physical inaccuracies with the portrayal of the queens, etc.. The only detail you mentioned that ruined the immersion of the film for you was that there were dark skinned people there when presumably the people being portrayed did not have those qualities. Please read your original comment! And mine!

Just the Coolest Dude Yo , I mentioned the inconsistency of race because , to me , it is the most obvious inaccuracy .i just didn’t feel like writing an entire essay listing all of them . When I said you brought race into it , I was referring to the fact that you presupposed that I would “call you racist” which I presume you would never have said if I were white. So I think we may have both got our wires crossed there .As for Mary’s accent , I think it highly unlikely there would be any Scottish in it at all . Her mother was French , and her father died before she was even a week old . The ladies in her mothers chamber and therefore her earliest governesses (if you could call them that as she was very very small) were also French . She was 5 when she went to France and 19 when she returned to Scotland. Plus Thomas Randolph (who was the British ambassador to Scotland during her fathers reign and hers and even during the regency of her half brother) commented in his letters to Elizabeth on her “unusual height , lightness of dancing and her heavy accent , as if a French woman born”

This looks so good. There are only 2 things that bug me though. 1. Elizabeth is portrayed as being more beautiful than Mary, when in reality it was the other way around in history. 2. Mary and Elizabeth are portrayed as meeting in person. In history they never met in person. All of their communication was done all through letters. I know It's just a movie and they are going to take liberties for the sake of drama, but it just irritates me when your making a movie about two historical figures, which some people who don't know the history of these two astonishing and phenomenal women, may think the movie is historical fact, when It's not.

I assume it's a visual representation of their correspondance, but I think it's a bit annoying that people jump straight to "tHEy nEVer mET iN pERsoN" without having the scene in context... there are other things to bash this film over, Mary's overstated arrogance for one

Reign romanticized her story so much that Reign's fans must have a hard time believing there was no love story between her and Francis, their marriage wasn't consummated at all because Francis was a sick teenager...

No hate just corrections Mary and Elizabeth are cousins but they have never met Mary was raised in France so shouldn’t she have a french accent? Where was Francis, her first husband, in all of this? They never met. Mary did not matter to Elizabeth until Mary decided to marry and have a kid. There were no clear winner between them. But they are both extra ordinary. Your teacher said that?! "Bloody Mary" refers to Mary I (aka Mary Tudor) who was the older half-sister of Elizabeth I. They shared the same father (Henry VIII), but Mary's mother was Catherine of Aragon (Henry's first wife) and Elizabeth's mother was Anne Boleyn (Henry's second wife).

I'm laughing at how people who consider themselves “mature” say “Reign was a terrible show beloved by teenagers who don't know about acting” Oh, so you do know, right? Then please, act for me. Do it better. Act better. Please cry like Adelaide Kane cried, or be as imponent as she was on that show. Because, if you criticize something, you have to be better, you have to PROVE you can do it better. Reign was not about history, I know you already know that and maybe that's why you are so upset, but let me tell you, teenagers also know that. This movie is going to be great, I'm sure it will be. She did great on Reign, she made me feel everything, but this is about Mary Stuart, about the real story. Reign was not TOTALLY about it.
