I worked there in the late 60s and early 70s. Loaded a lot of these sets into trucks and boxcars for shipping. I was 10 in 1961 and got the Civil War set for Christmas. My favorite.

There is an old WWII film called battleground and a short film based on a Steve King novel too. Nice set by the way 👌

Great info! Love those early Marx BGs. I also like seeing the orig price tag or mailing label for the additional info (but hate those blasted moving company stickers that seem prevalent on boxes). But anything that ties the set to the original kid rules in my book, because it always seems to evoke fond memories of my own childhood playset. Well done Sir! Keep 'em coming.

These earlier terrain pieces look so cool with their contrasting color swirls! Love the look of them here and the grey/black swirl from a different variation of this set. If they were more common and easier to find these days, I’d totally incorporate them into my own large custom-built Battleground Europe set I’m making. I like the more common brown/green, but these look too cool!

I love learning more about these Marx Battleground sets! Thanks for giving this one a commentary, definitely helps to educate me! You wouldn’t happen to have a Battleground European Theater set to review, would you? I’m assembling a massive one for myself, though only the American and German stuff are vintage originals, rest of the accessories and allies are recasts. Would love to see an original!

@@greatesttoysevermade3693 I didn’t see this until just now. Awesome! Not enough footage of this play set on YT, so I’m glad there’s something I haven’t seen yet! My own personal set is nearly complete to my liking, though I have recasted European Allies. I don’t have the budget nor desire to go after the originals lol, they’re out of my reach. But it is nice having double the amount that came in the original set, and in more earthy colors (grey Brits, dark tan French, olive green Russians). All of my Americans and Germans are original Marx, and I’ve amassed 100+ of each faction. Your videos continue to teach me more about the variants.

@@trippsallee I’m glad you enjoy the videos. You should post a video of your BG Europe layout once it’s complete, it sounds great. I know the original set and pieces are pretty expensive! Thanks for watching!

Hi there! Glad that you liked the video. Yes the set shown is complete, I might be missing a couple of shells for the 155. Not sure what you’re missing from your set, but if you’re interested in original issue pieces, beware because there are many reissues out there, especially the Marines as they are currently being produced by a company called BMC. Glad this helped you out! Thanks for watching!

@@toddbelanger1923 The hard plastic od. Green pup tents came in the earlier Training Center playsets. As far as I know, the larger command tent came only in softer plastic EXCEPT for the Marx Boys Camp set in which case it was the harder plastic.

Oh yes, I’ve seen! My goal in building my own is to have as many or more pieces than that set, as that display brings out the kid in me! I grew up in the 2000s, but always wanted a WWII-era army men play set like that. So far so good in my hunt to obtaining it all!
