Marvin Hagler vs Thomas Hearns "The War" 15.4.1985 - WBC, WBA & IBF World Middleweight Championships

Спорт

This video had previously been uploaded on my channel a couple years ago but was recently blocked by WMG. I understand the reasonings so I have re-uploaded and cut the video to remove the song belonging to them. This is still the full fight and upscaled in quality thanks to new technology!
The classic Middleweight World Title Fight between Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns from 1985, simply referred to as The War. The fight was awarded Fight of the Year and round 1 was awarded Round of the Year by The Ring magazine.
Almost every boxing expert or historian rates this fight as the most exciting 3 rounds ever fought. Hagler entered with a record of 60-2-2 and had not lost a fight since 1976, almost 10 years. Hearns entered with a record of 40-1 with his only lose being at the hands of Sugar Ray Leonard. On the line was Haglers WBC, WBA and IBF World Middleweight titles. Hearns at the time was the WBC World Super Welterweight Champion and this would be his first fight at middleweight. Prior to this fight both men had fought the dangerous Roberto Duran, Hagler beating him by a 15 round unanimous decision and Hearns by a devastating 2nd round KO. Hearns must have been extremely confident he could beat Hagler based on this fact alone, taking only 2 rounds to do what Hagler had not been able to in 15. But Hagler, known as a slow starter usually, went looking for the knockout from the opening bell and what ensued was a spectacle very few others have had the chance to emulate within the squared circle.
Hagler's victory over Hearns is widely regarded as the pinnacle achievement in his career. It cemented his legacy as one of the greatest middleweights of all-time.

I remember watching this live on ABC sports in 1985. Hearns looked off balance most of the fight, and never really seemed to get his feet under him. Hagler had to have rung Hearns bell earlier on, and Hearns never looked in control. I also remember very well this fight as I had never seen a fighter turn his back to an opponent like Hearns did. Seconds later Hearns was on the canvas.

To me this has to be the greatest 3 rounds of any professional sport, why it only has less than 20,000 views is what I find unbelievable.

I sold him a fried dough when I was working a concession stand in Brocton, Mass in the late eighties. When I told him it was on the house he gave me a twenty, said keep the change and shook my hand.

Hearns broke his right hand hitting that rock dome of Hagler. Yet Hearns refused to make excuses. Both true men and boxing royalty. Hagler or Hearns would have KOd Canelo Avalroids in 3 rounds.

From.midway through round 1 on, Hearns should've been doing nothing but jab and run. instead he was mostly jabbing to set up power punches. This was fine when he was a welterweight facing lessor guys. But with Leonard and Hearns he was too in love with his KO power.

After Hagler charged hearts in the 1st round hearts went off on him him the referee broke them apart almost 4 seconds went by and Hagler was still hurt . Had hearts jumped on him he probably would have knocked him down or out !
