The uppercut, and straight clean hook Hearns landed in the first 20 seconds at minimum knocks down almost anyone, and probably knocks them out. Go watch the HBO documentary on this fight. Hearns literally says. “I hit him with everything, and couldn’t believe he kept coming forward” That’s Marvin Hagler. Oh, and Hagler was definitely stunned by those punches. What’s more impressive, is how quickly he recovered. He just wasn’t normal. Built different.

You're wrong he did underestimate an opponent in Sugar Ray Leonard.. And that is why Leonard beat him. Hagler was telling everybody that the fight wouldn't go the distance and he would knock ray Leonard out it didn't happen this matter of fact Leonard hurt haggler a couple of times. And yes Leonard did when. After being out of boxing for 5 years you would think hagler would've put up a better fight but I guarantee you it was up for grabs even with Leonard being out of boxing for 5 years. Has Leonard fought him in his prime he would have won decisively in 15 rounds
They don't make em like this anymore. Great fight! Can really feel the tension between these two. Brutal!

Marvin Hagler was feared. Many opponents purposely avoided fighting him. He should have gotten a title shot much sooner in his career. No fighter trained harder and was more patient to get a title shot. Outside the ring he was a true gentleman. Very professional and an absolute iconic champion. Maybe pound for pound one of the best. Oh wow, you remember that fight, absolutely crazy night Foremans coach told him the one that wants it the most will be the 🏆 winner, it was absolutely amazing to watch and Foreman punched until his arms literally began to sag, he put 110% into the fight!! He was willing to punch until he fell out!!

@@williamworkman1146 Big George is my favorite fighter. This force of nature, the inhuman chin. We will never see such a wonderful fighter again. He will always be the best "puncher" and physically strongest boxer of all time ^^
THIS IS WHEN BOXING WAS AT IT'S GREATEST IN ALL DIVISIONS. YOU'LL NEVER SEE ANYTHING LIKE ANYMORE. SO SAD.

Very true. It was a Golden Era.
This is what we can call a fight for your honor, not for business.
The referee must have been like "I do not want to get between these two!!"
One fantastic fight💥👍 Two great warriors going toe 2 toe...unforgettable!
Tommy didn't have to be carried off and humiliated like that. He could've walked with the help of his corner. Since that fight, which I remember, that image of him getting lifted and carried to his corner marked me. I was a Hagler fan but had great respect for Hearns.

He gets entusiastic, maybe his easy fight againts Duran after that marvellous fight beetween Duran and Hagler tricked him. He forgot that Hagler NEVER HAVE BEEN BEATEN AT THAT TIME. He get tired and receive too much damage too much soon. With an inteligent work he could have won. Respect!

@@centinela24542 Hearns was just trying to survive after the first minute into round one, all things considered I think he did very well with just his left hand to throw with any kind of power force. I think he would've beat Hagler if not for that unfortunate freak occurrence that occurred a minute into the fight, it also might have had something to do with him being carried off like that.

@@021881mt Fool there's no way Hearns could EVER beat Hagler!
I expect Bud and Errol to bang like this. This was the best first round of boxing I've ever seen. 🇦🇬✊🏾🇵🇷
I watched this fight as a kid, best match i've ever seen!
Es increíble como Tommy Hearns lanzaba golpes de torpedo y Hagler para adelante!! Mis respetos y admiración para estos dos ídolos del boxeo!! Pasarán años para ver unos iguales
