Marvellous Meryl- The Iron Lady (2012)

Ойын-сауық

The Iron Lady is based on the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. I loved making this video as there are so many powerful moments in this film! Enjoy!

Baroness Thatcher gave her life, her sanity, her soul for this country!! She never backed down! She had the courage to say NO NO NO!! She gave everything she had for me and every other British person and for that I am eternally grateful! May God rest her soul 🙏❤🇬🇧😔

People love to blindly hate Thatcher, but at the end of the day, it won’t change the fact that she wanted what was best for her nation (albeit some decisions weren’t thought out too well such as mining), and she gave it her all.

Her actions regarding the Irish were downright despicable and I think she earned her ire from that and refusing to budge on South Africa

I'm afraid that referring to her treatment of the miners as not being 'thought out too well' is a vast understatement. The mines were closed in areas with very few other employment opportunities and absolutely no thought was given to those communities in terms of alternative training or jobs. Those communities were largely just left behind. To treat your own citizens in that way was reprehensible. It appears that attempts are being made to rehabilitate and lionize her as time goes on and memories fade but it's no accident that the section of society where she was the least popular was also the poorest and had the least power to fight back. I don't doubt her belief that what she was doing was right for the country but too much self belief can be as damaging as too little so it's very much a double-edged sword. I admired her intellectual capacities and ability to deal with the gender prejudices of the time yet, strangely, these experiences didn't give her an insight into those who were battling similar obstacles in different contexts. The fact that many people struggle unsuccessfully in life doesn't necessarily make them lazy or inadequate or less worthy of respect as people. It was ironic that such a strong advocate for privatisation should have a funeral which was publicly funded. Remembering her tenure, I can't feel sentimental about her but she herself would never have approved of sentimentalism anyway.

I come here more than a should do it...but watching how Thatcher sacrificed her personal life in order to have succes on her political career makes me feel kind of sad for her, even at the end we see how sometimes she regrets not to have spent more time with her children or even with Denis....The thing is, that I'm making my way to have a succesful political career too, and It makes me feel like I could feel all these emotions that Thatcher felt on her last days of her life, feeling so much nostalgia and regret....also smthing so sad for me to watch was how her closest allies from the Torie Party at the end betrayed her, she must have felt so cofused, but no matter what she dealt with it and she accepted it...I'm leaving this comment here, i'm not looking for likes or smthing like that, I just wanted to express what I have been feeling since I watched this masterful clip.

Those are very true feelings and that is why you must always try, no matter how hard to while on a path of building your career, make sure to have someone family, friends, relatives etc to lean on to and spend time with always so that you have no regrets in the end :)

Whether you disagree with her politics, or not, you have to admire her tenacity, her courage, her strength, in the face of overwhelming opposition. She made it, and left one hell of a legacy for every other woman in the world, showing them that nothing can stand in their way of their dreams. Personally, I didn’t agree with her politics, but it doesn’t mean I can’t admire the hell out of her for everything she tried to do, and stood true to her convictions. I truly admire and love that woman, and I always will!, miss you, rest in peace dear Margaret ❤️

She was an arrogant ogre driven by a callous ideology, and sadly a drunken prescription drugs junkie and alcoholic in the end - but she was nether corrupt nor incompetent and, being a scientist, would have handled coronavirus far better than the hopeless cynical liar Johnson and his merry band of greedy gobshyte toffs.

I remembered some of the "milk thief" practices, as Brixton residents call her, when I saw a video of a side of Brixton residents and British miners celebrating her death. It is neither iron nor glass!! But it derives its "iron" from war "La Gerra de ilas Malvenas" And who of all who sank like iron ships and men in the depths of the Atlantic, to achieve a slight victory for the navy over the hesitant Argentines? Those who did not calculate it well and adopted equipment from France and America, which gave the kingdom everything is ready! To postpone the conquest of the closest country to the Maluian Islands We even heard in the eighties the press buzzing with the phrase:; Sink an Argentine ship to save Margaret Thatcher! The Coventry sank and many ships on both sides, we regretted the men, But this creature Thatcher..has invaded everyone! The delay of the British to Argentina's annexation of the Malwen Islands was recorded as a personal victory even greater than the size of its island! By this it terrorized most of the Irish and their resistance, as it dwarfed the parties and weakened the unions But stay is only for God

That's kinda racist! Meryl deserved that Oscar but the competition was tough that year with Viola Davis and Glenn Close giving marvellous performances in The Help and Albert Nobbs. So this not a nice thing to say and not true either.

Pity for anyone getting older. But, she was the person responsible for privatising public services, and utilities. So, that now you have schools, hospitals, universities competing against each other. The present oaf in charge is carrying on the tradition by awarding fat contracts for track and tracing to private companies with no background in public health and bypassing local authority health inspectors who do have the expertise. The film humanises her ,but I can't get sentimental about her knowing what she represented and the dehumanising legacy she left behind.
