@@pwnmasteh nah it feels more like a meta commentary on the whole marvel snap meta, think cannonball, both cozy and Alex shrugged and said that he’s okay not great, then 3 weeks later he’s in like 3-4 top decks, Sasquatch, Athena (I’m not calling her thena that’s stupid), nocturn, red guardian, they all felt like passable cards and then it turns out they are required to make your deck +60%

Next week for Hydra Bob + Galactus + Nebula, next month for Wiccan + Loki + Pixie, and the month after for Arana + Ms. Marvel + Sage are the upcoming weeks I'm spending keys on because they're all ones I don't own. I am making an exception this week though because I have both Black Swan and Hercules but I NEED Arishem.

Phastos could probably get away with giving each card in your deck both, potentially only giving +1 power instead

Your banter with Cozy on his side was the best yet. The sunset bet had me laughing so hard.

I had Phastos in a Thanos deck I made and climbed from 94 to infinite and only list 4 games along the way.

I have the worst system for opening spotlight caches. Usually I go for it if there are cards I don't own in the same week, which can lead to some odd choices. I got Phastos this week already, mostly because I also needed Corvus Glaive, but I skipped Thena, Sersi, Nocturne, and so many others that turned out to be must-haves. On the other hand, I am getting good at finally acquiring cards late via spotlight caches just before they get nerfed!

Mailbag Q - Do you think the guardians cards will get reworked anytime in the near future? I'd love to see them get unique abilities even if they keep the having to guess location. For example Drax can destroy a card, groot can put a 0/0 Baby Groot on opponents side, mantis can sleep a card to stop it from revealing for a turn.

Mailbag: Are there any cards you know in your heart are bad, but you insist on playing anyway? Maybe you have a variant you really like, think the card is fun or just really like the character. For me, I can't imagine playing Discard without Angel in my deck.

@@daniellatkowsky6284 Grandmaster is better than Absorbing man imo. Especially if you Nakia, Grandmaster. You can do that on Wong turn 6 and explode turn 7. Or you can Grandmaster things like Scorpion or White Widow or Cable. Good fun.

The must have cards section felt like Alec getting Cozy to do Alec's homework for him 😂especially when he was like, "I'm getting a lot of questions about this one". I was just picturing them together at school. Alec: "Hey Cosy, so, that Catcher in the Rye, pretty crazy huh? What did you feel about it, what did you think were the main themes?" And then Cozy explains his thoughts and he's like "How about you Alec, what did you think?" Alec, while frantically writing notes: "Yeah pretty much the same." 🤣

NFL segment was great. And I agree Coccia needs to step up on cozy’s side when cozy puts him on the spot!!!

In regards to Phastos, what if, in order to keep the vibe they wanted for the card, they maintain all his current stats and text.. but added that he is a guarantee turn 3 draw. Just a thought. Would keep his randomness, but would be more consistent.

I wanna say this, as someone who's been playing for 6 months and doesn't have all of series 3 yet, high evo was my very first must get in spotlights, was my first complete deck, and I still play a ton till this day

Phastos could be something like a 1/1 On Reveal: Give each card in your deck -1 cost or +1 power (minimum 1 cost)

I have a package that i ran that was Phastos Chaves Forge and Grandmaster , really good in surfer , decent at discard colector handbuff , take out chavez and it worked well in destroy as a package too . I like the card. The handbuff surfer list ive been running though, i love it .

Hey Alex, I had a deck I named Random Chaos that I REALLY wanted to play with, but didn't have some cards in it so could you play some games on launch to see how it does? The deck: Cable, Scarlet Witch, Gambit, Morph, Nocturne, Rogue, Zemo, Nick Fury, Sersi, Arishem, and Quinjet and Mockingbird for the synergies.

I cannot believe neither of you mentioned Baldur's Gate 3 as the only video game you could play for the rest of your life.

Just throwing it out there, but I'm loving Phastos in Thanos. He isn't plan A, but if you happen to play him on turn 3 and haven't played the stones yet you really feel his power.

the segment where cozy ranks 3 cards to get is very useful as a player who is still building their collection. next week cozy should put alex on the hot seat tho

I never thought of Ms. Marvel as flipping someone off. I always do when we had a good game, win or lose, followed by a fist bump. Red guardian when I'm worried and deadpool when I do something stupid or something unexpected happens that messes up my plans.

That Quake variant is so good. Its my favorite by far.

What is phastos changes to gives cards in hand a negative cost and in deck plus power ...or vice versa. Still one or the other but gives you a little more control

I still Ms Marvel people when they pull off an awesome play or something like a random unrevealed location works out for them really well and burns me. I've only had the Jackwagons who like to spam emotes at me like Ms Marvel over and over twice in all the time I've played, which was the season pass with Skarr and Hulk.

Coccia is an absolute savage. Super cuts with a coupon. My man... You would love Chinatown in NYC. I pay ten bucks and I like gorgeous

Namora is a card I bought, played for 10 minutes and put away. Brought her back out this season and had my fastest infinite climb ever plus my personal best rank: 14500. Absolutely phenomenal card, no regrets.

You should only use keys if you have at least 4 of them to get the new card you want. Preferably you want to be missing at least 2 cards in the spotlight week. I use tokens when the week is trash and I only want one card. Like the Thena week.

You get about 1k tokens per month, but you get about 4 keys a month (I think).

I completely understand you Alex, tears of the kingdom is so much worse than it's predacessor.

The rapid fire sections was so fun! This needs to be a recurring segment. Also i genuinely use the Ms. Marvel emote as a GGWP and not as anything toxic :( MAILBAG (PLS PICK ME!): In a similar way to how the old Spider-man card was changed to be more like the actual character (and better reflect the spider theme in the game), are there any cards you feel could use a make over to better reflect their actual characters (and get better functionality out of it). I personally feel War Machine doesn't currently fit with the way the character is seen or really go with the other "iron" cards. Maybe a full makeover would also make this card more playable? Love the show and love your banter. Happy Snappin!

Especially with Kamar Taj being the hot location the other day, I’ve been having fun playing him in a debuff high evo deck. He’s not the best card ever because of the inconsistency, but at least everything he does is good. Just inconsistent.

Easy way to improve in game communication is to actually give people who want it the global mute. That way the only people seeing emotes are the ones who want to engage with the system.

I've been legit spamming the miss marvel emote, genuinely thinking it means "good job". No wonder I'm always muted

I never understood that interpretation either until recently, only because I know now how other people use it.

Alex, I would say one knock against Thanos right now for the newer player, which was the frame of reference you seemed to be using mostly for your card acquisition discussion, is that the good Thano's decks right now are actually insanely expensive. The deck is basically Thanos plus all the overpowered recent Series 5 cards like Mockingbird, Sasquatch, Cull Obsidian, Hope Summers, etc. Sure, you could play a cheaper version of Thanos, but the cheaper Thanos is noticeably weaker than the expensive version. Meanwhile, the cheaper version of High Evolutionary, while not as good as the expensive version, is not that much worse, or at least the delta between the two is not as steep as it is with Thanos. I think at this point, what you think Thanos is for new players, High Evo is. Thanos used to be that deck, and overall, it's still not a bad pick for a new player of course, but it's not the best pick anymore and I'd put both High Evo and Loki above Thanos as far as new player card priority.

The way to improve Phastos would be to use whatever coding they are doing for Activate and let you choose when he comes down if you want the -1 cost or +2 power

Alex, Cosy, did you try Phastos in a Nimrod Galactus deck? I found him to be fun in that

I have to defend my boy Loki...i was playing destroy for a long time got my full ink destroy deck then decided to try tribunal during the discard meta that was fun however last season Loki took me to infinite late cause tribunal deck wasnt having any luck with it so i switched to Loki late in the season and propelled me to infinite and this season in 1 week Loki took me to infinite so fast its such an amazing deck/archetype i love it and im 2 cards away from a full ink Loki deck

Mailbag: how would you guys improve the variant shop? With so many variants in the game and album variants being pushed most of the time it's starting to feel practically impossible to get the ones you want if they're not in an album. Do you think it's time for a revamp on how we access variants?

Mailbag: How do you think they should change the Reserves to make people want to open them again? And if they do change them, do you think they will force open players saved reserves? I ended up starting a second account to test out the Spotlight stuff as a new player and I finished S3 in the past couple of months and have just stopped opening reserves until series drops happen. I personally feel like they need to remove the conquest key and increase token rewards from reserves. On my main it feels so bad opening them and getting the gold ticket knowing that could have been a chance at a series 4/5 card in the past. I also believe they will force open reserves if they change them in a major way, but maybe not if they just remove the chance of a gold ticket for conquest. Just removing that may be enough for some I think.

Phastos on round 3 gives your next 3 draws -1 cost or +2 power. 4 draws if you play Magik by round 5 or Limbo is a location. Doesn't seem like enough to me, but IDK I didn't roll for him.

What if Phastos was changed to have his on reveal to scale with what turn you played him on? Make him a 2/2 and starting turn 2 you can get -1 or +1 increasing by one each round so on 5 he will do +5 or -5 idk. He feels really bad post turn 3.

I've got huge respect for both Cozy and Alex, and I obviously enjoy playing the game. So much so that when I wake up all I could think is what deck should I be playing, or how can I replace Nocturne or Cannonball on some decks I see. Don't get me wrong I still put down my phone to spend time with my kids and wife, but during those moments I sometimes find myself counting the minutes when I could play again. Unknowingly I've grown too attached to this game that even when I'm not playing, the content I consume still revolves around it such as watching creators on youtube/twitch, following threads on reddit/discord. I would say I got addicted with the game. The good news is that there is someone whose love for me is even greater than my addiction - Jesus Christ. He reminded me that He died so I may live a life free from any poison of this world, that I have better things to do in my life than spending my brain power on a game that doesnt care about me whether I die today or not. That He as our shepherd , He provides us all we need, and lets us rest on green pasture (Psalms 23:1-3). My prayer goes to anyone who is going through the same struggles that I had, those that recognize the void in our hearts that we try to fill in with games, social media, digital content; those who chase the next dopamine hit. May you hear Jesus our saviour, calling you back to him. Because in Him we can find joy that is complete and overflowing (John 15:11)

OMG Alex! I totally get the feeling about Tears of the Kingdom! BUT PLEASE give Breath of the Wild a shot! More focused, simpler gameplay and waaaaaaay better story/direction.

Passing thought for the hypothesis of tweaking White Widow. What if you made the Widow Kiss into a 1 cost? Then it gets hit my Killmonger. I know destroy already cancels it, so not sure that adds a lot. I'm also not really sure that she needs a nerf. That being said, I'm not seeing a lot of her played against me and she seems very strong in my use.
