When we first find out that Doctor Octavius is evil, it gave me such a shocking factor even though I know in the comics and movies he was evil too. Something about his introduction alongside all the other villains was just so goooooood and this theme really upped the greatness of this scene.

It's probably because in the game he was never evil to begin with, when we meet Otto, he wants to help the world by starting with revolutionary prosthetics, but as the game goes on we see that his hatred for Norman Osborne leads him to becoming someone else

I knew doc ock was the final boss , so I knew this was coming . I felt a sense of dread as I helped with the processing chips and creating compounds , knowing I was making his future arms stronger to fight peter . That was sick af

My favorite incarnation of Doc Ock of all time. The Voice Actors were just amazing and I really enjoyed playing the game. Got to give insomniac credit, they really out done themselves with this. Thanks for making this, like seriously...you're the only one who has, so thanks a million.

I didn’t want him to turn so much that I genuinely thought his transformation would be saved for a sequel. It was a bit sudden but that takes nothing away from the fact it’s one of the best interpretations of the character and one of the best examples of sympathetic villains in media full stop.

Hearing that chorus when he first appeared on top of the raft. Made my heart pound with fear and my god his delivery when warning Spider-Man was bone-chilling

Something about this was just super powerful, even though we know Octavius as Doc Ock, the transition is still super emotional in the game, and you gotta give Insomniac credit for that.

It was cool to see how his own rage made him turn and weaponize the arms for himself vs how it was earlier in the game.

3:40 could be his theme in the MCU. edit: Jesus tap-dancing Christ, you lot turned what was fun speculation on my end into a debate on if i'm a full on fan of the franchise.

That fanfare during the second phase hits me every time. “We were going to change the world!”

I hope doc oc comes back if this game gets a sequel. I feel the next natural evolution of the intetresting relationship between Otto and Peter is that they will be forced to work together again in order to defeat a greater evil, maybe Venom or Green Goblin. I really want to see the response of this version of doc oc to seeing Green Goblin (knowing who he is). He will go all "I kept telling you he was bad but you wouldn't listen!".

Same. I kinda want a redemption arc for Otto, so peter can save one person. Like doc ock chooses to forgive Osborn after seeing that he made GR-27 to save Harry. And they fix the inhibitor.

I can imagine him saying to Peter "If you'd let me kill Norman the last time none of this would be happening" if Norman becomes the Goblin in the sequel. Otto will probably be confused by Norman constantly switching personalities though.

If this happens, I REALLY hope that Peter gets knocked out in the fight, and it because an Otto vs Norman fight where you control Otto. Imagine fighting as the person you fought against in the first movie.

The way this track grows more and more ominous is so perfect for his downward spiral into insanity.

7:40 my favorite part. I love the creepy vocals it almost sounds like a cult.

I prefer Salyers, his incarnation is sadder and you can connect to him in a more emotional way than with Molina. He felt more comedic to me

They built him up masterfully to be the villain, we all knew it would eventually happen, but that didn't stop us from feeling sad as we were fighting him.

The idea of peter creating the main villain, and even being able to do side missions where you work on the arms was insane, made this incarnation of doc ock so much more personal

And then the fact Peter perfects the arms to make the insomniac spider arms for the sequel.

I like how, for once, the focus was on Doc Ock's arms which are an amazing invention, and they're not just a plot device used to interact with some even bigger technology. I also like how instead of a faulty inhibitor chip causing him to go aggressive; it's more realistically just ordinary brain damage from trying to put a neural interface in his own head without any assistance.

Tbf it was only Spider-Man 2 that used the whole faulty inhibitor chip thing. This version gives a nice middle ground between SM2 Otto where it's not entirely his fault, but also seems to take some more inspiration from the comics since it's implied that Otto was planning something even before the neural interface and has genuine hatred for Norman and that the interface just made things worse.

Doctor Octopus is Spider-Man's TRUE archenemy! Change my mind...

This doc ock is the perfect way of addressing that not all supervillains needs to have a six pack!

Such a great version of the character, rivaled solely by Spider-Man 2 of course. His fall to madness is truly heart-wrenching to witness.

When I found out that Peter works with Dr Octavius, I knew he would become Dr Octopus but I didn't expect him to become evil in the main game.

"The Final Chapter"

I really like the fact that in this game Doc Ock is *him* he's done with no other Spider-Man villain really could've done in just the right way.. in Spider-Man's eight years of life hes never fought anyone like this, this year, he challenged Spider-Man mentally, he broke into a prison and got 5 of his worst foes out, teamed up with them to form the Sinister Six. and he broke him.. uh- physically this time. he did it TWICE he caused an entire epidemic/apocalypse. and turned New York City into a beautiful loveable place into a WAR ZONE EASILY. IT TOOK PRACTICALLY NO EFFORT. and he's practically the reason for Aunt May's death.. he broke Spider-Man AND Peter Parker. mentally and guess what, the only thing he didn't account for? Peter HELPED HIM make those arms. which is how Peter could beat him. on that rooftop it wasn't just a fight between Spider-Man and Doc Ock. it was a literally battle between life or death, that being of Aunt May's. AND ITS THE FACT THAT OTTO KNEW PETER WAS SPIDER-MAN.. GOD KNOWS FOR HOW LONG BUT HE KNEW. which made it more heartbreaking, that he knew he was hurting Peter and his aunt. and he still just wanted revenge "pain leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering, and suffering leads into the dark side" and Otto conveys that PERFECTLY and he's the smartest villain Peter or YURI has ever had to go up against. and that scared them. Strength is more than just power and aggression and more than just bing and bap. it can come from the mind and that can be scarier than any other form of strength. Otto is literally *HIM.*

And now he's writing.... *the final chapter* third game is gonna be insane

Ikr, I’m glad this one is green, I mean don’t get me wrong, Molina’s Doc Ock with the cloak looked badass, but this comic accurate green one is soooo good. Green and black as well. And the arms, PERFECTION

Paesano is goddamn amazing. This is like the best of Michael Giacchino and Joris de Man rolled into one.

I loved Doc thanks to his design before-hand and everything (mainly due to the old sam raimi film, which was my fav out of the trilogy) but this game was the piece of media that made Doc Ock my favorite Spider-Man villain. And it is still a damn shame he hasn't been seen in much stuff apart from the old film and this game. Do hope that, if they do choose to brink him to the MCU, they do him great.

I like the look of the Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock. But Spider-Man PS4 Doc Ock had the best character development and motivation to be a villain. He had the best connection with Peter and it made their rivalry personal and full of emotions.

And also why does this theme make me think of Scarecrow from Batman? Edit: I think because it sort of sounds like something you would associate with fear and dred as Scarecrow chases you or something and then around the 10 minute mark, Batman kicks his ass and Scarecrow is thrown in the back of a cop car but you fear it is not over. The you fear it is not part would be 10:31 and you fear that because Scarecrow looks back and winks (I would say smiles but the burlap sack would cover his mouth). Damn i could write a Batman v Scarecrow book or some shit.
