    So basically Gambit COULD be an Omega + level mutant, but he doesn't WANT to be. That explains a lot about him

    I concur. Gambit knows the number one rule to power? With great power comes great responsibility. Gambit just wants to chill and protect the ones he cares for most in his life not out fighting comic beings. He wants to still have what little normal life he has. He is a master of kinetic energy so at his full power ho is basically a star collapsing in its own black whole until he is drain which wont happen cause the energy will recycle back into himself. Thanks for the Video.

    This is actually really clever. Gambit’s whole schtick is about realizing potential. His power literally converts potential energy into something powerful. Having him be a character that has immense potential in him, but only allowing him to tap into it briefly, is directly related to his power

    a polar opposite to the Hulk's rage or Cyclops' eye beam. The idea that Gambit has an infinitesimal amount of energy, but only a brief period to use it; While Scott Summers or Bruce Banner also have an immense wellspring of power that they have to keep in check at all times. Gambit's power is only limited to his imagination, while the Hulk & Cyclops' power is unlimited they always have to use them in the most effective and intelligent way to avoid collateral.

    Really a marvel movie do it BY MARVEL is the ideal thing BUT, the problem now is that marvel being part of Disney, I DOUBT they are going to make a movie about Gambit or al least GAMBIT AS HE REALLY IS. The fact that he is a thief, a "ladies-man", and have a dark past or is on the "gray area", are probably reasons why they are going to skip his character or at least reasons why nobody wants to take the challenge to create the character for a movie, I am sure they find it difficult. I think that the best we could get is his 90s version that was really nice an approach to the character leaving the stuff that could "be confusing" for children minds :v and a headache for Disney to explain. But I honestly think (and this is sadly just wishful thinking) that if Disney could make X men movies again, they should make them R-rated in order to explore new aspects and characters that are not being explored yet due to restrictions for sure. Like how fox ruined Rogue making her an scared and emo teenager that never does anything wrong, instead of a girl that have to leave her home due to her family and being abandoned was taken by a delincuent Mistique that made her a villian too, and how she had to live with the consequences of those crimes(what she did to ms Marvel). I dont know to this day how HOW can you make such a cool character like Rogue such a wimp...

    Gambit doesn't want his abilities to go out of control because he regrets his seedy past and all of the wrongs he committed, and he has a feeling he knows what he is capable of and is afraid of the scope. When professor X took him in without judging him for his crimes he felt a catharsis and honed his self-control. That might be the coolest aspect about him.

    I hate how Gambit is SO overlooked not just by fans, but also by writers. Gambit's powers, even when they are limited to their normal level, have so much potential. Not only can he charge any non organic object, he can put a time delay on it. All he would have to do is walk through a place without his shoes on and he could charge the entire building with energy and set it to blow once he leaves.

  • @Nathankinamorh

    The description of Gambits powers has always been defined around the control of Kinetic and Potential energy. That is broken as fuck. As in the universe there is only Matter and Energy. Kinetic energy is energy in use and potential is the future amount of energy in a given situation, that is incredible vague and all encompising. Technically everything that is currently moving or not moving Gambit can have control over and make go boom. It is Gambits character a Fun, Charismatic, Charming, Cajun, kick boxing, bo staff weilding, theiving nature that defines him. Not near enough X-men excude such clearly defined characteristics that it overshadows their powers. Many claim that he is too "90's" but is he really? His base nature is Optimistic and Charming, if anything he has too many Pro's and not enough Con's if that makes him "90's" then OP characters define the "90's".

  • @shadowspider9

    @shadowspider9

    7 жыл бұрын

    Agreed. Gambit is a great character but sadly a lot of people look at him and label him as ' 90's edgy' or now a day's 'wanna be hipster' due to his laid back attitude and charisma. He is a way better character then most give him credit for and has a lot of potential both in terms of powers, backstory, and character but sadly people tends to define characters based on surface judgement. Another character i like for example, Nightwing, tends to get written off by some as 'Batman lite' Hopefully the new Astonishing X-men book will put him back in the limelight a bit.

  • @Nathankinamorh

    @Nathankinamorh

    The kind of people that don't respect Gambit as a character are the kind of people that have shit opinions of characters in general. Why do I say this? Anytime I have ever had a discussion about Gambit as a character there are only two categories of those who understand him. 1. Those who just saw him as a passing cliche, in a Fox Kids cartoon. 2. Those that actually knew the definition of his powers and the purpose of his flaws. Gambits flaws are what define him, the fact that he is a thief. The fact that the X-men regularly can't trust him. Hell, TimeTravelers want to kill him! He is the 90's suave anti-hero that just wants to get it on with the one X-Men that may drain his energy (which he has plenty of). He became such an important character in such a short amount of time, that he had more screen time then X-Men that had been around for decades. Why is this? Because audiences loved his character. That is why, Fox hasn't released a film with him as a main or support. He is to beloved. Just look at the prior representation of Gambit with Taylor Kitsch, Fox shows the most basic attributes of the character without ever revealing the flaws that define him; as to screw up his flaws destroys his character.

    Gambit is just skating by throwing objects, hitting them with sticks, and kicking them. OP mentions and showcases "New Sun" a flawless version of Gambit that transverse dimensions. Gambit could be OP as fuck if he wanted, but he doesn't which is why he asks Mr.Sinister to dial himself back. Its not the powers that define Gambit but his flaws, which is why audiences love him. See also Wolverine, another incredibly flawed character.

    If Gambit, at his full potential, was able to defeat a character who defeated the Dark Phoenix, then he is not Omega Level. He is Beyond Omega Level. My reasoning is that full-power Gambit could himself defeat the Dark Phoenix, which is in itself a Beyond Omega Level threat. On other videos on this channel, you have used the ability of a character to defeat another, Beyond Omega Level character as evidence for the fact that that character is itself Beyond Omega Level. By that same reasoning, Gambit, at his full power, at least, is a Beyond Omega Level threat.

  • @shadowspider9

    Ehh, it's kind of understandable. Almost any power has the potential to be godlike if you crank it up high enough, and after 60-70 years there is going to be at least 1 story that does that for every character. This is something that has happened not just with X-men but most comic characters. Just about every character of the Justice League has a story where their powers get cranked to god level as well.

  • @Nathankinamorh

    I get that, but the description of Gambits powers has always been defined around the control of Kinetic and Potential energy. That is broken as fuck. As in the universe there is only Matter and Energy. Kinetic energy is energy in use and potential is the future amount of energy in a given situation, that is incredible vague and all encompising. Technically everything that is currently moving or not moving Gambit can have control over and make go boom.

I mean in a comic from last year he was able to charge a parade float with less effort then it used to take him to charge a large object.

    When you get down to it, everything is kinesis. I could simulate telepathy by manipulating the velocities of electrons in your brain or I could create extreme gravity by drastically speeding up atoms so that they all crash into a very small point, thereby creating a black hole with infinite density. A similar thing happened with Magneto, who used to be able to do anything simply by invoking electromagnetism, because a lot of physical processes are based around electromagnetism.

But i didn't know about the full extent of his powers... until now. I remember having read somewhere, though, that Gambit had the (potential) power to energize as much as the *whole planet Earth,* should he not hold back! That's pretty crazy, if you ask me. Enough to consider him a full scale (possible) threat... if he ever decides to go vilain.

    Gambit was always my favorite. People always forget he had supernatural powers in addition to his mutant abilities.

    I prefer gambit to be gambit. All this special powers are awesome but its gambits ability to think in and outside the box even when faced with OP opponents and somehow turn the tides to his favor is what makes him an awesome character. Special mention to his role during the X-tinction storyline and the Shiar storyline.

    Gambit is my favorite Marvel character. Not all the time but yes I agree with Gambit being Omega level. Really hope to see more of him in the future, he's such a great character with lots of potential

    i never understood why writers forgot about him when the 2000s came in.every movie,series put him in the sideline or sometimes not even part of the team. gambit together with logan was one of the waves of "bad boys" of comics.

    I grew up with Gambit as my favorite, just the cocky attitude, different abilities then most and what boys wanted to be like cool, quiet, secretive and a bad ass. I always hoped he'd have more powerful abilities or be involved more. Hope he gets a good quality movie like the new SuperHero movies coming out lately.
