RIP Roger Corman. Movie legend.

Roger Corman is one of the most important figures in the modern film industry. He basically mentored some of the best filmmakers and actors in the industry by giving them their starts.

It's great seeing the love for Corman. Not just from his peers, but here in the comments. Let's hope he's greeted by Sharktopus and Audrey 2 on the other side

Giving credit where credit is due without a hint of self congratulation. Scorsese is tops !

without roger corman's mockbusters there would be no scorcese, no coppola, no james cameron, no jack nicholson.... i mean i could sit here listing names all day. corman is a legend who never gets the credit he deserves when it comes to the legacy he has left behind.

People like Martin and Jack Nicholson never forgetting Roger Corman is a testimony to their success, professionalism and integrity!

In the Late 80s Roger Corman tried to get Jack to make a small cameo in one of his movies. He looked a Roger Corman and said “sorry Roger, you can’t afford me anymore.” He couldn’t even take time to do this for the man who gave him his career. 😐

@@stylishboy004 yeah it was after he was joker in Batman (1989). Corman was doing a lot of his own remakes and he wanted him to cameo but he said that he wasn’t going to do it unless the money was right.

@@stylishboy004 it’s crazy because Corman was the one who got him into his first acting role. He even wrote a couple of movies for Roger. Idk he might be genuine in the clip now that he was retired from acting and they did get him on camera to talk about Roger. If I was Jack in that situation and Roger asked me to be in his movie I’d say “you don’t have to pay me Roger. I’ll be their on Monday!”👋

Martin Scorsese is definitely a legendary filmmaker hands down casino, goodfellas, Cape fear, the departed, taxi driver, raging bull, the king of comedy, gangs of New York, the Irishman, shutter island and many more the man is definitely one of the greatest.

This is an interview used in the documentary Corman's World, which I highly recommend.

I had to check if I had the video in 2x speed. No. Marty talks that fast.

Scorsese on the importance of Roger Corman? Hell, I prefer Corman over Scorsese. Give me Creature from the Haunted Sea, Bucket of Blood, Attack of the Crab Monsters, Teenage Caveman, the Undead or Little Shop of Horrors over Goodfellas or... I'm sure he did other stuff. You know what it is.

Now he's making movies too long lol

Understanding how Roger Corman makes films may be more important to understanding the future of filmmaking than understanding its past. With the tools being placed in the hands of independent filmmakers, and the kind of work they are producing, particularly in the genres of high-concept science fiction and low-budget horror. Figuring out how to make these films profitable, and thus keep working instead of simply making out one’s credit cards and going back to a 9 to 5 to pay it all off. If you can’t be Spielberg or Lucas, you could find much worse role models, as filmmakers, than Corman.
