One reason I wouldn't have a direct debit for my energy bills. They tell you you pay less but hold onto your money.

It depends on the time of year, you use a lot more energy during autumn and winter. So during spring and summer you're essentially building up excessive credit to accommodate. 🥸

Talk about a waste of money, 200 Million Pounds for the Nuclear Industry, with that money the UK could be doing massive upgrades in home insulation, solar energy on roof tops, and large scale solar fields, and large scale wind turbines, on land , and sea. Then do what the Germans did in one year, build a minimum of two major LNG receiving plants, and storage, and distribution facilities. All of these systems can be done quicker then building out a Nuclear Fuel Cycle, and have a more direct effect on the cost of energy for the average UK energy consumer, and will create more jobs in the energy sector.

This woman is all talk. Sick of the lot of them.

I wonder how cheap it would be if we cut out the middle man and just paid national grid.

There are areas where people cannot have smart meters even if they want one due to poor signal to the network. The technology needs to be developed to give it the possibility of using an internet connection instead.

My smart meter loses network quite frequently.

So to conclude, “go and get your money back…” no win win for reducing costs…just ‘go and get YOUR MONEY back…what a usurious system.

My smart meter isn't working. They've been trying to "fix" it for 7mnths. It's costing me a fortune. My credit keeps disappearing even though I'm giving them actual meter readings. It's not my current suppliers fault it was like it when I moved in. My last supplier would always give me "estimated" and it cost me an absolute fortune (I'm still paying it off 2 years later)

I just cancelled my direct debit with British Gas, when you go onto the App they don’t allow you to lower the payment, only increase it, I am already £354 in credit with the summer looming. It’s like dealing with Arthur Daley. 😂

Disgusting the government as a finger in their pie deplicable !

I am in credit £1300, and I've spoken to my supplier about this. I gave them 2 readings when I was talking to them on the telephone. They had said that they would refund my money. This is now over three weeks ago.

Only £200 the government give the French £500 for doing nothing...and we shouldn't have sold it all off..
