To keep it short, Raian is the result of people being bred for combat over countless centuries. In terms of physical specs, potential, and talent, he is the pinnacle of the Kure clan. His whole schtick is that he loves to win fights with raw force alone: he can't stand the idea that there is anyone he can't overwhelm. When he said it'd be over too quickly if he used a Kure technique, he meant that shit. In Omega, Raian fights a dude who is larger and stronger than him, and he also knows the removal. He literally rips him in half from the jaw down.

I think the biggest thing you missed at 6:27 is that he didn't hit him in the face, he punched him in the throat which would break the cartilage of the trachea that supports it and collapse the air way so you can't breath and then that huge hammer of a punch.

Love how some of Ohma's fights are highly technical while still brawling in a phone booth style fighting right in the pocket.

  • @Raiden4019

@5:06 You right, he's telling Kazuo to shut up lol! What I love about Kengan in particular is that even the more fantastical elements are still based in reality and dealt with consistently throughout the series. Ohma's Advance and Raian's Removal are both ridiculous, but both have understandable and realistic consequences in the show (heart failure, muscle damage and extreme fatigue). Agito outclasses everyone as far as adaptability and overall conditioning goes, but clever and experienced opponents like Okubo (and later Kuroki Gensai in the manga) can still get one over on him through mix-ups, higher fight-IQ, or by just being tough-as-nails. Even something like the Niko Style is essentially just the idea of MMA being able to be taught as a single self-contained fighting system based on principles without losing any of the quality, vs. needing a team of 2-4 coaches specializing in each of the different elements. Ohma's fights are my favourite to watch and I cannot express enough how much I love hearing the input of someone who has professional fighting experience find joy in the same place I do. P.S.: Fun fact, did you know the Kure clan are actually modeled after the Gracies? Every member is basically a reference to someone in that family, via their name, physical design, or personality. Old man Erioh Kure is named and designed after Helio Gracie, Karla (though the anime pronounces it 'Karura') is based on Kyra, The Kure guy with the shaggy hair is named Hollis (I think you can figure that one out), and Raian is based, naturally, on the late 'bad boy' of the family, Ryan Gracie. The more you know!

You usually respond to technical fighting with a personal understanding of what makes a fight in a film something great. I feel there are only so many technically good fight scenes out there. As a suggestion, your expertise would also be fantastic on crappy movie fights. What makes a fight a good fight? In your case, you're able to say makes a good movie fight or not in the from of a genuine art or real moves used in combat. But, that might also make you an expert on what makes a horrible fight sequence. I suggest you also watch the worst fights scenes in film and tell us exactly why it's a bad fight sequence vs a good one. I feel there's a lot more bad than good and you might be the one to enlighten us to both. Here is Jean Claude Van Damme in the movie Hard Target. Is this a good or a bad action sequence.... and especially, why? I like this action sequence but more like a guilty pleasure and I need an expert to tell me the difference between good action and a fun scene....kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXdoltalosKxo7g.html&ab_channel=Movieclips

Im glad you noted how in anime grapples never work. like he has full body leverage on his arm while having him pinned to the ground and yet he just bicep curls out of it. I guess in an anime a submission isn't interesting, but then they gotta stop showing people caught in them and just getting out with bull shit means (the worst offender is still kenichi strongest discple where the hero gets out of a full body one by breathing)

Almost forgot how much fun manga is to watch! :) Also I´m not sure if "berserk" would be effective to repel attacker - maybe the adrenaline could help to numb the pain from incoming hits and that would be enough to prove it doesn´t have the effect. Uhm, talking about fist/legs hits, not any blunt or sharp weapon.

It kind of a trope actually, characters that can boost their strength for a small period of times or characters that suddenly exert more strength then they seemingly have, all based on a real life thing call hysterical strength and it’s pretty interesting. Basically the human body doesn’t always use 100% of our strength, not even professional lifters and strongmans can exert 100% of their actual strength, our body purposely doesn’t let us because the consequences of doing so can lead to permanent nerves and muscles damage or even heart issues, I suggest read it on wiki for more information

⛹‍♂🚴‍♀8 👁🚴‍♀ 🕸 simple concept basic logic if life is not free why the hell would death be any cheaper it's not. So the question one may wonder is the spiritual cost to one's own soul and spirit for having lived and died to the lowest standards of quality for so many years now global pollution has diminished the quality of life to the point where today's people are living, dying and yielding the worst spiritual kickback that has ever been manifested since the beginning of life only getting worse. The polar opposite extreme to that is today's people should be living and dying to the highest standards of quality which would make each and every moment physically, mentally, financially and spiritually beneficial. Someone likely already answered this but yeah the “shut up” explanation: うるさい-> Urusai->(pronounced like) oo-rue-sigh-> loud/noisy/annoying in this case said as “うるせ”->uruse-> oo-rue-seh which is basically like a more short and harsh way of saying that it is loud and therefore annoying. So basically when subtitles are saying shut up the person is basically just shouting that that are loud. There is a way I think of saying just like shut up or more directly “be silent” and that would be a version of だまる->damaru-> the verb for “to be silent” now lets make it short and snappy. dah-ma-ru. だまれ-damare- dah-mah ray now you’ve got a short snappy rude way of telling someone to be silent. Both the one used by ohma and the other one listed here work but I think the first one is more a statement that something is annoying and the other that you want them to be quiet as like an action I’ll answer any questions and take any critiques as I am not an expert, just a student
