It's really what Bruce added to Wing Chun that makes his interpretations what they are. He incorporated western boxing, karate, judo, wrestling and jiu jitsu, in his fights.

This is no Wing Chun stuff. This is Bruce Lee showing off his skill set. Also known as Jeet Kune Do. Offcourse its choreographed and the moves are big and flashy for the theatre. But you see this man had skill and knows how and what fighting is. His phylosofies are futuristic. Always an inspiration to watch him move.

Man this movie had the best sound effects fight to me truly a classic from Bruce Lee

Here in Melbourne, Australia, we were blessed to have Sifu William Cheung and his younger brother, Master David Cheung as teachers at their own famous and prestigious Wing Chun Academy In Corrs’ Lane. They were so respectful and friendly, but also extremely experienced in the authentic ways of Wing Chun. Now Sifu Cheung was a very dear friend of Bruce Lee as well as being his instructor of Wing Chun Style in his younger days. His favourite weapons were the lethal Butterfly Knives, and let me tell you Sifu Cheung was very dangerous with them too. A true master of his craft. Danny Inosanto visited Melbourne too for a show convention with Sifu Cheung. The highlight was those two martial arts legends, demonstrating their weapons against each other in a mock fight. I can tell you Sifu Innosanto was lightning quick with his stick fighting. They were just awesome.

What made Bruce Lee so superior to so many in martial arts is not just the physicality which was outstandingly strong, it was the esoteric aspect of his continuous training. He was a true student of the art of fighting. He wanted to make himself the most adept fighter possible. So this included the spiritual as well as philosophical aspect of his training. I believe this is what gave him that edge over most. He meditated quite often and used visualization techniques and all manner of aligning his mind body and soul into the most perfect fighting student. I say student not in a disrespectful way I mean he always was hungry to learn, to add to his already extensive repertoire of fighting skills. He never had the attitude that there was nothing more to learn. In fact it was the complete opposite. He was a mad man in that regard, of wanting to always learn and add to his fighting prowess. Bruce Lee is in my humble opinion the one person most responsible for spreading the love the desire for others to learn the art of fighting. He influenced so many varied people from all different sports and other styles etc. Bruce Lee will be forever the greatest to ever have graced this world with his skill. RIP Bruce and thank you for all of it!!

one of the extras from this movie said that bruce was the first to introduce touching style because he wanted it to be more realistic and that a lot of the extras did not want to fight him and some got really hurt. even at the time there was a movie contract offered to anyone who could beat him for real.

@@BurridgeMartialArts604 some commenters saying had to slow cameras for Bruce actually they speed up cameras which slows actions down & many folk thought that they did it to make Bruce look faster just the way it works think high speed cameras catching fast base-ball pitch camera must be faster than ball or ball is a blur like Bruce's techniques old cameras did 8 frames per second his punch start to finish took 3 frames IE 3/8ths of a second & please can U do review of FOF Bruce vs Russian I love it almost as good as BL v CN & I heard Jackie Chan also doubled as fat sword man flying through wall to outside from BL's kick. Cheers refreshing to hear another Martial artist comment's on BL since I retired from Dojo.

Can't believe you missed Mr. Jackie Chan in his several close-ups in the scene. He is the first student sitting down to Bruce' left when he walks in. Also, Bruce took the nunchuks from his shirt when he did the forward roll, after being kicked from behind. It helps that I've seen the movie a bunch of times, actually I had to play it back to pick it up, twice.

The actors in hakama are wearing them backwards, as a passive-aggressive insult to help make the Japanese characters look ridiculous.

I was so surprised because His first attack is not elbow but back fist after a faint. his movement is so fast that I can't see it.

That feint is amazing. I played it in slow motion. The feint scares his opponent to twist his head sideway. It must be terrifying to experience Lee's speed up close like that.

and the sad part like both jet li and donnie yen he was asked to slow down...lol mainly because the camera was not even seeing it. yeah frame rate back then sucked. even today it probably would not catch it either. just ask jet and donnie...lol

Bruce Lee was the greatest

I love this fight scene just the total domination of these guys so good. And he had the nunchuck in waist of his outfit. Bruces character went there looking for a real fight and came prepared for one.

the ass kick at the end makes his point. puts his top back on and collects his weapon and thats it.. badass.

This movie was also known as the Chinese Connection in some US Theatres.

It was called Chinese connection all over the u.s. I remember watching this movie back in the day and that was the title. Fist of fury was the movie when he is in Thailand working at the ice factory which turns out to be a drug smuggling operation.

@Leon RussellYes Leon they are but 3 of his movies each have 2 titles. Had something to do with Hong Kong release and U.S. release back then. So Big boss and Fist of fury are the same movie, same as Chinese connection and fist of fury (see the confusion) and the third movie Way of the dragon aka Return of the dragon same movie. Only Enter the dragon and Game of death have singles release titles.

Back when I was on the fencing team for school, my coach had the exact same body type as the sensei. He moved slow and fast at the same time. And had power you wouldn't expect.

1:33 not only a fast back fist, he actually did a feint before hitting that guy. He did that in his movies many times, such practical technique is not something you can see in other martial art movies.

Facts! I did notice that too!

Like from the movie: No retreat no surrender Bruce's ghost says: "Your eyes must see in all directions, your ears shall be awear of all sounds and you must learn to feel every movement before it accures and be ready to react ". Thats how he hears the guys behind him, he expects it. Bruce Lee a time less Legend may he rest in peace.

So you're also martial artist "fashionista". Your credentials are truly extracurricular. Your students must look so wonderful.

Enter the Dragon - One of the best martial arts movies ever made. Certainly, the best of all of Bruce Lee's movies. PLEASE rent it, buy it, borrow it. It's a must-see for any martial artist. It also shows some really decent mixed martial arts, too.

Enjoyed your reaction to the video very much. This is a frightening fact but they had to slow down the film tremendously in order to see ....so all the speed that you're seeing is actually slowed down. Which demonstrates Bruce Lee absolutely off the charts speed and Athleticism that you have commented on in this great scene...and ability just in this clip. I'm in the exercise physiology field I have had the pleasure of meeting someone who saw obviously a demonstration around 1968 California he is tremendous exercise physiologist and author himself... With a super understanding of the fundamentals of physical movement hand eye speed coordination and basic martial arts ability and he said whatever you see on film doesn't even come close to the impressive level that he demonstrates in person. He explained that Bruce Lee was simply not visible for a long period of time moving and demonstrating and hitting objects He wasn't even at his peak at that time in 1968 in terms of what he could do with his martial art skills I think it probably comes down to a very basic principle if you want to beat Bruce Lee in a fight he has to be dead otherwise probably not a good idea to test one skills when he was alive.... Jim Kelly the great martial artist who plays WilliamsIn enter the dragon was a middle weight champion and he trained with Bruce Lee during the 3 months they film that film together. He describes Bruce Lee's abilities he talks on KZread about it unfortunately he passed away in 2013... Question for you sense How much would you have loved to have trained with Bruce between 1968 and 1973 or after if you could have lived..... Perhaps that desire is nearing off the charts as well.... It would have been absolutely amazing to have learned from him And to be smart enough not to challenge him.....

It's kinda funny Bruce was actually quiet when he fought. They added all his noises in post.

This one was also one of my favorite Bruce Lee fight scenes. Around the 4:40 mark he gets to swinging the nunchucks, cracks everyone in the shins and pops up with a big ole sh*t eating grin on his face, as if to say, " how you fk'ers like me now" LOL 😂😂 Then destroys the boss and anyone else who gets in his way. I've always wanted to know just how many people actually got smacked doing these fight scenes. Doesn't matter who you are, mistakes happen.

That master was an actor in Hong Kong, and actually a judo master. I was a friend of his son in high school. One day he invited me over to his house where I saw pictures of Bruce Lee and his father taken during filming. So surprised because I had always been a big fan of Bruce Lee!! His father was teaching police officers in NY at the time after retiring in HK and moving to NYC.

The nunchucks to the feet and leg scene was copied in the movie Kill Bill where the girl fights the Crazy 88 in the restaurant. But instead of nunchucks, she uses the sword to start slashing at the feet and legs.

With all the feats of strength Bruce has performed in the past he's the only guy in my mind who could believably throw people around that are relatively his size like that (except for the whole grabbing people by the shirt and twirling them around thing)

Wanted to address your question on if Wing-Chun style makes you better at not looking at what you hit. It is a hallmark of traditional Chinese martial arts at large to train to be multidirectionally aware. There is a master named Adam Hsu who wrote a book called "The Sword-Polisher's Record" in which he explains that kung-fu was created to answer this question: If I am surrounded by by ten men with weapons and intent to kill me, and I am unarmed, what do I do?

Dan inosanto mentioned in a rare interview that Bruce Lee had ultra instincts and he had a 3rd eye. His 3rd eye wasn’t on the back of his head, but it was on top of him look down on him and his surroundings like a bird view.

@@2_TsuyoiShorts in a documentary. It’s possible, he used a secret meditation method which Taoists use and have been using for centuries. There are books on this form of meditation which have been burnt. Search up Taoist meditation. It allows you to tap into inner energy and do much more.

People forget how TaeKwon Do and Jhoon Rhee influenced Bruce with the high and combo/spinning kicks. Chuck Norris also recommended throwing high kicks on camera as it looks better and has more visual effect.

Fun Fact: Bruce was so fast, they had to film many fight sequences in slow motion. No bullshit.

Bruce never stayed "married" to any one style. He flowed like water.

Bruce knew that if he wanted to bring martial arts to the world in those days only way was films. If he had never done that even if he was one of the greatest fighters no one would even remember his name or inspire so many who followed him.

The amazing thing about all this is, all Hong Kong stuntman are expected to take some hits in movies such as this. Bruce Lee was that fast they asked him to slow down so they could film him properly :)

I do scan through the videos real quick to make sure it's good quality but I'd never actually sat through and watched the whole scene before this. The constant talking i think comes from me still being nervous once the camera goes on and get a bit uncomfortable with the silence sometimes. im fairly sure that the guy who played the main karate guy in the latter part of the fight also played the same type of role in the movie Hapkido - starring lady kung fu herself - angela mao (who worked with bruce on several movies). You would know her from the beginning of Enter th Dragon as the woman being chased by o'hara

He is not doing Wing Chun in this fight scene. Please know this. It is a combination of Jeet Kune Do, other Martial Arts (maybe a little Wing Chun), and movie Kung Fu.

YOu have to check out Fist of Legend with Jet Li as that was like a remake. Good film. Also Jet Li in Kiss of the Dragon where he takes out a whole black belt class with sticks.

In these earlier movies you can see how much thinner Bruce was. After his fight with WJM he bulked up a lot. The difference in Enter The Dragon compared to this is pretty noticeable.

All of the Bruce Lee films are known by the Wrong Titles in the States. The Big Boss became Fists of Fury. Fist of Fury was called the Chinese Connection. The Way of the Dragon was called Return of the Dragon, making it sound like a Sequel to Enter the Dragon, even though it was made first. Enter the Dragon and Game of Death are the only one's who's titles were never changed.

did you know his fight scenes were slowed down he had to slow down his movements and the frames to 32fps. and bruce lee students have said that he was one of the fastest and strongest people. also he used to go into different dojo and challenge the students. and he was the first one to introduce full body contact sparring training headgear gloves shield etc. also he did not believe in styles like judo karate etc. he had his own art jkd also he was able to train his skills without telegraphing his movements. also ed parker the founder of american karate said that bruce lee was the only one that he seen that could pop the air when he punched. and a lot of ed parkers students went on to become students of bruce lees after they seen one of his demonstrations. because what he was doing was based on what was efficient in a street fights. not tournaments and he was always evolving.

This clip has been edited because when I saw this movie in theater the Sensei kept trying grab Bruce. Bruce then started to use he called a "Stop Hit". He started hitting the Sensei with shin kicks which kept the Sensei at bay. And you see the Sensei thinking twice about getting within Bruce's kicking range!!!!

Red Tao of Jeet Kune Do, aka Jeet Kwan Do aka Way of the intercepting fist in the 80's, in my opinion a must read for every martial artist.

Look at 4:00 that dude was dude that Bolo kills in Enter the Dragon. As a matter of fact after Bolo kills him and yet he will appear again in the final battle!!!!! Lol!!!!!

lol how do you DISOWN a style? also bruce lee didn't disown anything, he was a patriot and RESPECTED chinese kungfu and what it represents to the chinese community, he merely invented jeet kun do because he wanted to involve the art (all kungfu ESPECIALLY wing chun focuses on science) even the ipman "legend is born" shows how even THEN traditional wingchun evolved with the times

He didn't disown Wing Chun at all. Utter nonsense, JKD is heavily integrated with Wing Chun. He shows off Wing Chun principles in many of his movie fights.

Fun Fact: He had to slow down for the camera. He moved far too quick to capture his movements reliably for film. That is the kind of skill one builds when you train every single day of your life for both power and speed.

Gichin Funakoshi Founder-Shotokan Karate... Okinawan Martial Arts When Okinawa was it's own country sort-of-thing. The shot of a M.A. founder and you pointed to the Martial Art~--Collection of concepts, Bruce Lee put together Jeet Kune Do influential.

You recently reacted to Jet Li in legend of the fist, there’s another scene from that same film with Jet Li against a Japanese general, a very good fight

Meanwhile people have learned to attack one single person as a group. They run in circles around you (while carefully staying out of your reach) to get you tired. Eventually somebody will jump you from behind and only then another attacker will attack you from another angle. You also have to reckon that, while you take care of one attacker, another attacker will swing up a bottle behind your back in order swing it down on the other side of your face. Also, while in this scene the whole room is perfectly lit, these attackers will strike in the evening or at night, using corners with lots of different and/or unsteady lights. When the light is each time different, depending on in which direction you look, your reflexes don't work. However, Bruce Lee was so great he might have evon overcome such odds. Normal mortals don't.

Cant remember the movie, but he cracked Jackie Chan over the head and almost knocked him out.
