Martha Stewart Teaches You How to Deep Fry Foods | Martha's Cooking School S1E12 "Frying"
The very best fried foods are golden brown on the outside and deliciously tender within - never greasy or soggy. Yet frying on the stovetop is a technique that can elude even the most ambitious home cook. In this episode, Martha offers lessons in how to deep-fry and pan-fry to perfection at home in your own kitchen. Recipes and step-by-step techniques include French fries, pan-fried chicken (a Southern favorite marinated in buttermilk before coating), and Japanese tempura vegetables with dipping sauces. She shares lots of tips for keeping foods crisp without allowing them to absorb excess oil.

I’ve had a life time of cooking gardening and homemaking lessons from Martha. It’s wonderful to see you looking so beautiful and happy. Truth be told use those mandolin’s with extreme care. I can’t even look at one since I got cut. Love you Martha, thanks for all you do💝

She has a great cooking skill
I love mandolines. Suggestion: get a "cut resistant" glove from any restaurant supply store Bed Bath & Beyond, Microplane website, etc. "No Cry" is one brand. You want a "cut rating" of "5" which is the highest level and it will block a blade. Then you can mandoline safely and confidently.
I love Martha Stewart, she can do everything well.

@@AlwaysManifesting She's always had the "it" factor, while at the same time knowing her stuff. She deserves a hug.
I have made Tempura onion rings, califlower, broccoli, carrots ( thinly sliced on the bias).I used club soda in the batter.
Miss Martha Stewart , You Cook With Style And Excellent . Keep up the good work .
You’re the best, Martha! I took some time this week and watched many of your videos for some holiday inspiration. Always great.
One of my fave MS exhibitions. She is really loving the fried potato in all these creative ways, not to mention the chicken fest. Damn!. A mandoline is a great tool.
I do love fried food! But only do it occasionally, some really good tips here, thank you!
So happy to have you back Martha. I miss you original show so very much. This is getting close and actually I love these shows just as much as I am viewing them. You'll always be perfect in my eyes and heart no matter what. Just like comfort food you are. Life isn't the same without Martha. I Miss your adorable Mother. Love her dearly also 😇
Thank you Martha for all your amazing recipes and I’ve never heard or had tempura before I want to try this . Thank you for your expertise and “ how to methods and teachings “ . I enjoy them very much and learn a lot . ❤

Oooooohhhh YuM!!!! Yes please to all. Thank you Martha. You are my hero.
I haven't seen anyone who hates fried food in their lives yet. Personally, French fries are my favorite.

All of these Fried Food recipes look so delicious Martha.
Certified Gold!!!!!😎
Merry Christmas, Martha!!!! I love your shows, videos and cookbooks. 🌹
I like to use coffee filters under my fried food as they absorb the oil and look good while they do it. Coffee filters are also a food-grade paper.
Thank you, Martha I love your shows
Thanks Martha !
Fantastic. Easy enough for a guy to follow haha
You had me at fried chicken! :) Everything looks so crispy and delicious!

😍😇😋 VERY EASY AND UNIQUE RECIPE
i have a deep fryer that i love cooking fish in and everytime i catch a fish i always make hush puppies well 1 fateful day i made home made hush puppies and thought to myself these home made hush puppies aint as good as the Martha Stewart hush puppy mix i buy from the store so one day this year while i was at walmart i bought the entire shelf out for $12. Now because ima diehard fan of her hush puppy mix i decided that im a be a fan and starting watching her. Because of Misss.Martha Stewart i want to try lemon cookies and sweet potatoe pie.
Oh Martha, what a great lesson!! Your enthusiasm for the waffle fries is just darling!! Thank you so much! (You look absolutely lovely in this video as well!)

Idk why when I saw your comment the first thing that pops into my head is an actual waffle that’s been fried. 😂
Yummy 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Yummy
I love tempura but I like more of the batter covering the food than it shows here.
Must anymore deep fry but if I had to id follow Martha
I absolutely adore Martha, and have learned a lot from her! However, to flour the veggies prior to battering them, I think a stainless steel bowl would have worked better so the veggies could be tossed with the rolling motion of flipping them in the bowl as a cook flips something in the skillet. It would have given more coverage. I also would have used more flour in the batter and perhaps allowed the batter to rest a while before using. Just saying. I'm no tempura pro or anything, but I think those methods are good. I will steal her idea of using the stainless steel chopsticks, though! I have bamboo cooking chopsticks, but never thought of using stainless until watching this episode. Also, it's not necessary, but the fries (save the gauffrettes) can also be salted in stainless steel bowls, using the same flipping motion and that would distribute the salt more evenly. Stainless steel bowls are failsafe to use because they're practically indestructible and so are almost always a win.
Aah...drying my buttermilk chicken first....thats what was missing.
Please do puffed potatoes next!
Thanks.. Hugs n kisses 💝💝
Merry Christmas newbie here

Same to you! And welcome! 👋
I didn't catch the temperature for the tempura frying oil. I love zucchini tempora, with salt, butter and lemon it reminds me of scallops. Very tasty. I got two sweet potatoes staring at me. I'm going to try your recipe in the morning. Thanks for the idea. Did you have to throw the old man out of the kitchen while you were making the fried chicken?

She didn't say but I have made Tempura. I had the temperature 350 or 375 degrees.
My question is how she stays so calm. Lol I guess it's not really a question more an observation of how differently she cooks than me
What kind of oil is best for deep fry?

Martha, how "wonderful" for you that YOU have been able to make a living convincing people that you are 'some' kind of guru....................but, honey, you got NOTHING, TRULY NOTHING on Chinese-trained, Chinese-interested, Chinese - accomplished chefs and cooks and partners of others who enjoy food.
