Today we are testing the TS 1000 quantum board from Mars Hydro
My first impression is that it is a fantastic LED indoor grow light for the price range it is in. The Mars Hydro ts 1000 makes for the perfect budget grow light. It is lightweight and super-efficient using only 150Watts out of the wall.
It uses new SMD Led technology that runs super cool compared to older tech. This eliminates the need for an active cooling heat sink. This means the unit operates without a fan cooling it, reducing noise output as well.
Like normal in this Mars led review we tested this product using our Apogee MQ 510 Quantum meter, Our digital thermometer and energy usage meter were also used. We broke it all down and made a par map for the Mars Hydro TS1000. Using the information collected we calculated the ppfd/w where we were even more impressed. Overall, this indoor garden light is pretty impressive considering the cost. It is very efficient and uses little power to produce results.

    I use a LED Full Spectrum Grow Bulb , using for 1 plant ( 4 settings, Seedling, Growth or Veg, Flower and Switch i.e. Male to Female vice versa) Plant is 3 feet in Veg Stage in a 48x24x60 Grow Tent. I use a reflector mat and wrap around the Grow Bulb that hangs down around Plant. Its helpful due to minimizing space to get as much light flow as possible. Its working as an amplifier of light to plant as I notice some of lower Kolas and top Kolas growing out sideways as those Kolas are under bigger Kolas. If I didnt use a reflector mat wrap to minimize open space to direct light all around Plant, the lower Kolas and other Kolas under bigger ones, they most likely grow slower. Remember that light spectrum will bounce off or redirect light from any material that reflects light. Im planning to do same wrap around method when I get the Mars ts1000. Like I mentioned of using wrap around reflector mat, the Kolas under bigger ones are growing out sideways due to light bouncing back in a more confined space.

    Hey! I’m trying to use the ts1000 for some seedlings, but the heat is too much as I don’t have any cooling in my veg tent atm. I know hanging it at 30inches at 100% is about perfect, but I’m trying to lower the power to 50% and hang it closer to get rid of some heat. Do you remember what height you set it at for 50% power for seedling ? Thank you in advance. Ooh but you were talking about the ts2000. Oops . Still, any recommendation for height at 50% with the ts1000 for seedling ?

    are these the samsun lm301b modules? as for reading the temperatures people say it helps to put a little bit of diffuse electrical tape on the surface, and read that part once it has settled to the temperature. the corners / shitty reflector are a dealbreaker for me think i'm gonna do my own makeshift combination of a load of those bridgelux eb 3500k strips and lumius 50w cobs anyway, they seem to be the nicest bang for buck from the homework i've done so fars

  • @downwithprohibition7364

    @downwithprohibition7364

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Alexander i dont believe that they are samsung leds I would have to look that back up to know for sure though. You are right about the tape. I used pieces of tape to help get temps in my video, reflective surfaces dont work best with temp readers.... If you have the skill set to build your own light id say got for it my friend as yeah you can build a custom light that would dominate for a fraction of the price of any manufacturers. Depending on your skill set there are also some great led diy builder groups on facebook that will help you plan out your build or answer any questions you might have. I know it can get a bit confusing when you start looking at sizing heat sinks for your build. I have been looking into this myself but am a bit unsure if I can trust my ability to build one problem free just yet lol best of luck to you on your build though man.

    @@downwithprohibition7364 i've played with the idea since 2013, but back then it was all about them 3 watt powerleds, and it was a lot of solder work, and deciding how much to run parallel and how much to run serial and all that jazz, i didn't wanna risk 1 row blowing out and taking out the rest... these days with the cobs doing 50 watt a piece and the ready dimmable meanwell drivers it's not a lot of solder work and with wide spectrum leds, the ratios have become a lot easier :) for the strips i was thinking doing 3500k maybe mix in a 4000/5000k row for veg on a 4:1 ratio, and add some sporadic far reds in between for emerson effect. those are a lot more work though, i find them extremely hard to source for the right price right now too here in the netherlands the cobs are easier to come by. so i figured i was going to try 2x3500k cobs driven at ~50 watt first as for heatsink science, yeah i'm not sure about that either, but i still have a ton of old PC heatsinks & coolers though, some of them pretty hefty aftermarket ones that may come in handy. also, i still have a big ass heatsink on an old broken subwoofer too i may salvage :) i feel confident enough on my homework on which lights to pick, not as confident in my electrical skills, but that's why the cobs are nice, can't get much wrong with that one i may just get a seperate driver for each cob to reduce my chance of blowing them up, also, i may like it better when i have multiple modular ones i can move around individually :D i'm so stoked at the idea of being able to dim those lights, still running oldschool blurple panels from 2013, that go all the way on or off. so there's a lot to be had when it comes to power efficiency. also looking to make a little seedling space with just very shrill 6500k (as it seems to promote the chance on females by like 10%), i don't like how TL can break and stuff and i have had to move houses one time too many :D anyway, i'm geeking out again.... thanks for the reply :D

  • @downwithprohibition7364

    @downwithprohibition7364

    4 жыл бұрын

    Fair question if you are looking at pure output the viparspectra lights still overpower these but if you are looking at efficiency then the 1000 is the way to go as it only uses half the power for a reasonable amount of light. For me its still hard to say till we see a side by side with the same genetics. I am getting great results with my vipars though. We will have to setup a side by side on our next grow and put them to the test to know for sure.

    I just noticed that you said the 450. I have only tested the 600 watt models that pull 267 true watts. I imagine the par would be a bit lower on the 450.. I believe the fans pull about 9 watts per fan acording to some people in the led builders groups of on facebook.

    I would go with the mars ts 3000 model just due to the footprint it has. You would need a few though to do a full room that size. It's going to cost you but these lights will give you the most bang for your buck Those lights give you aa 5x5 veg and 4x4 bloom. Here is a link for them amzn.to/2NSDPdU

    @@hairstondeondre3755 well if you were able to grow 6 under each light you would only need 2 but that would be tight in my opinion. If you are topping then 4 plants in a 4 by 4 foot area is perfect. If not topping them maybe 6 under it. I would say 3 lights for that many plants to be comfortable

    The light is only rated for a 2x2 so it would not be as effective in a 3x3. Even the manufacturer has stated that. Also if you’re growing without reflective walls then you’re loosing light anyway, especially black walls.

Saying that I also showed how cool the light could run if it was ran in a tent with ventilation and circulation under optimum conditions. Anyways i though it would be something you may want to take a look at.
