    Hollywood should NEVER try to do a remake of this and recast the characters ... like all the other crap remakes they've been tossign around for the past 2 decades now. This was purely lightning in a bottle (except the "Seven" episodes) and will never be duplicated without the OG cast. So glad the cast were all close and didn't have the same negativity and hostility and controversies so many other series casts had.

    They did one in 2012 too but it was just the Bundys. I doubt Amanda Bearse would come back for another one. Although she had a bunch of directing credits for this, she's really become bitter about the show. She views it as too male sexist and making fun of women, particularly her. Ed O'Neill is on record for a moment he got into some argument with her. It might have been over the writing or pay. And he pretty much implied that she could be replaced but not him. He said it was petty of him, but she wasn't going to get to rewrite the show's concept.

    Ted McGinley, Marcy's second husband quietly carved out a great career. He was on Happy Days 4 years, on Love Boat for 60 episodes, on Dynasty for 34 episodes (that's over a year), on Married With Children for 6 years, on Hope and Faith with Kelly Ripa for 73 episodes (that's over 2 years), on the Transformers cartoon for 54 episodes, and in 24 movies including Pearl Harbor, Revenge Of The Nerds, and Waynes World 2. Congrats to him. He deserves it.

    And he did it while stuck with the all-american good white boy look which might sound like a head start but much the same with Christina facing the hot and stupid cliche' , there's a million of them out there. So to be the one always picked show's his timing and other aspects (same with her) , and he seems like a humble guy. I didn't know about some of his work until you wrote;. thanks for the note.

  • @jamesrawlins735

    @jamesrawlins735

    I would say he was stuck behind the Eight-Ball for Love Boat and Happy Days. He had to replace Ron Howard, and the audience never really accepted him - same with replacing Lauren Tewes (Julie) on Love Boat (did we forget they tried to bring in Julie's sister also?) - But Married with Children broke the Jumping the Shark curse he had.

  • @___David___Savian

    @___David___Savian

    Жыл бұрын

    @@jamesrawlins735 I differ. I would say that on Happy Days Ted didn't get good plot lines because the cast was already big and well accepted. There was no room for him there. The same with Robin Williams as Mork when he appeared as that character on Happy Days first. They instead gave Robin his own show. On Love Boat, was where you went to sleep while you found a good show. The only thing interesting about Love Boat was the occassional good guest and the bartender that said a couple of good lines per show. Writing is everything. Married With Children is one of the best written shows of all time. Married to me is funnier than Seinfeld, Friends, and most other shows of the 80s and 90s. If Ted would have had good lines on Happy Days or Love Boat he would have done great. But, Fonzie and Tewes had better bits. Just my opinion.

    I came here from Mexico when I was five. After learning some english this is what my brother and I watched at home when our parents were working their double shifts. My brother, 8 at the time, and I, 6 then, still reminis about Married With Children from time to time. We are now close to our 40s. This show was so progressive and real that it doesn't grow old. While our lives are closer to the cosbys or family matters, in the aspect of us having careers now, we strongly feel the bundys had a greater impact in our lives than the rest. It gave us certain values and a certain mind set that prepared us more for life than the other shows ever could. After all what can a rich family, rich kids, and rich people problems teach two little mexican kids about life?

    It was my young sons that turned me on to this show back in 80's. It took me a second to get into it.

    I used to laugh so hard watching every Sunday when I was a teen. I'm not laughing anymore. It's so true when you are married.🤣

    One of the classic sitcom ever.

    I remember watching Married, and Seinfeld during approximately the same time period. Both shows were able to pull off delivering side splitting humor using two entirely different comedic methodologies, and I enjoyed every episode of each one.

    MwC was about the real life of a suburban family, Seinfeld was about the life and idiossincracies of a single guy in a big city. I relate to both as well, they were able to deliver the irony of life in both environments. MwC is a little simplier than Seinfeld's writing but Seinfeld wouldn't have existed without MwC's success imho since they both dealt with negative aspects of human behaviour and MwC was the first to do it on TV.

    @@redacted2275 If you want to go back to the show that truly broke ground in dealing with the negative, dysfunctional aspects of family life, that would be, "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", which aired over a decade before either MwC, or Seinfeld. SOAP was another sitcom that dealt with extremely risque (at the time) subject matter.

    @@MarkRVillano I don't remember much of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman but I wouldn't say it broke ground the same way MWC did as far as the politically incorrect and crude humor, half naked hot babes being exploited for our pleasure and characters so wildly dysfunctional and hilarious. That show was more dramatic in nature, we're talking pure comedy and how no other family sitcom in history dare went where MWC went. Closest would be All In The Family and even with that Archie and George Jefferson were the only truly dysfunctional and flawed characters.
