I know this response is a little late, but avant garde just means new and experimental ideas in art that sometimes may be too strange for the general public.

@@vaporwave4880 Sometimes ( a lot of the times) it is someone's fault. I am interested in what Dillon thinks was a credit to scarjo's perspective. I did see sides in this movie and I was on Driver's. Driver is a good husband. Not perfect. There used to be something called fault based divorce. You needed a good reason. There were reasons for what she does. None I would call good. And that she takes his son far away? Outrageous. Divorcing in a low conflict marriage is bad enough but taking his son was insult to injury.

About Adam Driver's song; I didn't think it was bad, but I wondered why the audience (in the movie - if there were an audience? Was it a rehearsal?) didn't applaud afterwards. It seemed odd.

I agree so much with you after having watched the movie. I am heartbroken at the loss of their marriage but literally they could have done about 500 things differently and saved themselves a lot of heartache. I'll consider it a cautionary tale like War of The Roses but with a lot less death.
