As stunning and as distinctive as only the incomparable MARLENE DIETRICH could make it. I thought I knewall of the later day Dietrich recordings as record companies often just reissue the same ones. Lisen to the heartbreak in her voice. Is this from her EMI period. I will hope it can be released on CD. I was fortunate to see Dietrich `live` in 1973 and 1975 There were so many untruths written about her stage act ( after she died). To those who were there they treasured the experience.

A beautiful version, and thanks for the lyrics. I found that these german lyrics were not as deep as the french ones, though, they are more straightforward. In the french version you find many powerfull poetic images, and some weirdnesses in the (very desperate) lyrics.

It really is an amazing interpretation but Piaf never sang this song. What is on Internet is not Piaf's voice, it is another singer.

I wouldn't say this is my favourite version, but its so incredibly powerful I feel like im being sucked into the sound or like im grounded. its really weird. its something to do with the fact that its in the german and how much emotion she's putting into it. its almost scary but I kinda like it. im shook.
