On a warm summer's evening On a train bound for nowhere I met up with the gambler We were both too tired to sleep So we took turns a-starin' Out the window at the darkness The boredom overtook us And he began to speak He said, "Son, I've made a life Out of readin' people's faces Knowin' what the cards were By the way they held their eyes So if you don't mind my sayin' I can see you're out of aces For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice" So I handed him my bottle And he drank down my last swallow Then he bummed a cigarette And asked me for a light And the night got deathly quiet And his face lost all expression Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy You gotta learn to play it right You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done Every gambler knows That the secret to survivin' Is knowin' what to throw away And knowin' what to keep 'Cause every hand's a winner And every hand's a loser And the best that you can hope for Is to die in your sleep" And when he'd finished speakin' He turned back toward the window Crushed out his cigarette Faded off to sleep And somewhere in the darkness The gambler he broke even But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done You've got to know when to hold 'em (when to hold 'em) Know when to fold 'em (when to fold 'em) Know when to walk away And know when to run You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done

Amazing performing, bravo👍🏻👍🏻
First things first, Mark, your song DON'T LAUGH AT ME, should be a national video and songs where needed! What a contribution and personal hit for me. I love your Gambler set! The American flag on your guitar wears well on you..............
Thanks for this, Mark. It's such a faithful rendition (which I know is the point considering that it's a tribute to the Gambler himself, Mr. Kenny Rogers). Of all the covers on KZread yours is easily my favorite. You have such a natural weight to your voice and your tone is golden. Also, 10 out of 10 for the bgv's -- expertly done.
Let my papaw listen to this and he couldn't tell a difference! Love it sounds fantastic!
May be the BEST Cover that I´ve seen for this song

The only cover on KZread where the guitar intro is perfect
love Marks voice and he is easy to look at also.
This should be sent to Mars or Venus as a record of human perfection in a next space-mission. My congrats, Mark!

ohh right!!
Hey folks, Kenny Rogers isn't the original artist. While the most iconic and well known version, it is a cover. Bobby Bare, Don Schlitz [who also wrote it], and Johnny Cash all recorded versions of it before Kenny did. A lot of people in the comments don't seem to realize this, and I think credit should be given where it is due. Kenny is the best version, but it's not really his song.
Superbe

dion hobbs that’s why we played the parts in two separate positions so we could separate the voicing. And I’m a drummer. I have to cheat on my guitar playing.
Great cover, but the guy in the back kept facing away from the mic so I didn't always hear the harmony/backup vocals.
Another good cover...but it doesn’t have that sage uncle advice look that Kenny gave us
Not bad
Chris Stapleton would murder this song
FIRST ONE TO LOVE ME ! The first one to love me was You; Lord And nothing can take that away. My soul is refreshed by living water While my heart flows with love each day. I thank You for the love of my family And I thank You for the love of my life. I thank You for all of the blessings You give to each husband and wife. Your glory rides high on the sunsets Your voice is the thunder of rain. I thank You for all of the heavens And Jesus who came to be slain. I feel when Your eyes are upon me As You listen to my humble cry. You've redeemed the soul of Your servant To dwell in Your mansion on high. I’ll claim each and every promise From the Lord of the Earth and sky. I'm so glad I’m free from my bondage Of the grave where my body shall lie. I thank You for parting the darkness And guiding my footsteps each day. I thank You for being my Shepherd You've walked with me all the way. THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE IN YOUR HEART ! Very nice but I rather prefer the version by First Aid Kit.
Great cover but,no, I don't think that he sounds just like Kenny Rogers. He sounds like the guy sings "1970 Something".
blake shelton version
NICE LIPS 😁
Guitar was not tuned perfectly.
this is a better version than kenney's with that stupid cheesy drum and bass line
did perfect good
