nope, the father of most ww2 tanks would be the British Vickers 6-tonne light tank.... this is pointless, some of those didnt have anything in common with other, later tanks. they just gave people an idea that building tanks CAN give you some advantage and paved the way for other more advanced constructions and better ideas. its like saying that t-34 was a "father" to pzkpfw V.... they arent even the same species in my opinion xD

@@randomcommenter4719 The British Mk1 Little Willy had all those features but couldn’t get over a trench or barbed wire. The British also used armoured tracked vehicles during the Boer war but those were steam powered gun tractors.

It could be a reproduction or the actual thing with the considerable rust and track damage, also paint like that would only be for propaganda / display purposes.

TheMlgFox Good news it is real. The bad news is that it isn't a WW1 tank. As it was built nearly the beginning of 1920 and was also a Mark V Composite which it may look like a Male but on the other side housed a female sponson. I mean it probably saw action in the Estonian War of Independence.

The tracks look like they could fall off any second

I think the left track got off tracked at the bottom at the end. Dude points to it.

That left track looks like the two ends were barely staying together. Really cool to see this old tank brought out. What were they doing with it, some repairs? Whats its history?

@@Mr0_0Gaming more likely to be a captured tank, a MK5 isnt common and to deface one like this is just wrong and would not have been done as simply to give Russia some credit. Russia never used any tanks until the Civil War and this has the hammer and sickle painted on it. Therefore, it would be support for the Bolsheviks who only fought for a few months against Germany and therefore not really worthy of taking any credit. The more probable result is that it was a tank captured in the civil war by the red army and repainted

That tank belonged to the Alexeyevsky Regiment of the White Army

Seems strange to see a British WW1 tank with Soviet markings on it.

Smeg Head61 because its a "soviet" tank. The brits sent an expeditionary force and some armor over to help the white russians fight the bolsheviks In 1919. When they lost. The brits left in a hurry The now soviets Ended up with a lot Of mkvs. Enfeilds and winchester 1895s along with whatever else was being used

Funnily enough, some mark V's actually saw WWII service with the Soviets. Estonian Mark V's were still in service during WWII and some captured tanks were used as static defenses.

the left track is obv broken and missing a pin. That's why it went off. That tank is a static exhibit and it does not get moved very often.

А если честно, то в те времена, при наличии факта отсутствия интернета было пофиг какой танк, главное - не наш! В кино немецкие танки периода ВОВ - то Т-55, то ПТ-76, то ещё кто-нибудь, и ничего, прокатывало

The British sent a fair number of Mk.V's to Russia with their Intervention Force following the Revolution. When they left the Mk.V's were left with the White Russians and in turn they passed into Bolshevik ownership and were used for several more years. For some reason one ended up on the Kursk battlefield apparently as a monument to some event and got ventilated then left to the weather for decades before being 'recovered' - wonder where it is now.

At least as curious as seeing a British mk1 tank in Russian (Soviet) markings are the two Vietnam era M 113's off to the side (note the turret/gun sheilds) . Hmmmmm Maybe relics taken over from the Vietnamese? There is a story......
