My daughter has social anxiety but pushed through it to go to her first con some years ago. The panel of the day was Mark, who stood in the doorway and greeted everyone as they entered. He stopped her to tell her he loved her hat and thanked her for coming. I'll never forget the joy on her face. He's a class act.

One of the problems with SPN is that the writers were all over the place about whether they wanted it to be an essemble show or just focus on SAM&DEAN. So Cas and Crowley were forever at this weird limbo where, in some seasons, you could see the writers liked and valued them and in other seasons their storylines were terrible and they were clearly getting sabotaged behind the scenes.

I think some of it too was money; their budget was heavily cut in the last couple of seasons. They didn't have enough money to constantly bring in people for every episode besides Jared and Jensen. I agree at the back and forth with side characters. You can tell which writers liked the ensemble cast and which ones didn't - cough Buckleming cough.

Crowley should have been gone after a couple seasons. It made no sense for the Winchesters to be so nice/ Cooperative with the King of Hell. The writers kept watering the character down. It would have worked if he was a rogue demon like Ruby, but not the King of Hell.

Having met Mr. Sheppard several times I must say his casual demeanor doesn't hide his witt, caring, sensitivity and the the warm heart he shares with fans. I've seen him brighten everyone's day once they met him. His father was so sweet as well and once said to me at a convention..." I can't believe how many people know my career better than I do...." - I said back - when you're good, you're hard to forget! He said thank you very much! Thanks Michael, great interview with a great guest! Bravo Mark and Michael!.

When we had our photo op done he made sure they brought it over to me and helped me on it. Such a sweet man who appreciates his fans. He even said " hello boys " as Crowley for me.

Supernatural and Mark’s character in particular were the reason I met my wife, the love of my life ❤️ Back in 2014 we were both big into the SPN fandom and had tumblr blogs, both of our favorite characters was Crowley and we ended up messaging each other and hitting it off because of the show. We were long distance, my wife in Arkansas USA and I in Northern England, but over 4,000 miles we made it work. Not long before we started dating my wife told me her surname was literally Winchester 😂 it was so wild. In 2015 during one of her visits to see me, we went to a Supernatural convention and had the chance to talk to Mark and also get photos done with him, and he is one of the sweetest, kindest and most genuine people. We told him our story, at that point we had just gotten engaged, and in our photos he made sure we got two so each of us could have one, and he pretended to be marrying us 😂❤️ I’ll always be grateful for SPN and everything it bought into my life. I feel like the show went really downhill at the end, and they did Mark dirty, but the cast was always so kind to the fans no matter what. It was an amazing thing to be part of.

I loved hearing him talk so fondly about Doctor Who, Doom Patrol, conventions and even Supernatural, despite how things ended for him. Plus, I really appreciated what he said about fans and how much courage it takes to dress up, declare your love for something and then meet someone you admire. As someone with anxiety who loves cosplay, conventions and meeting actors, that made me smile. Speaking of which, Michael I'm looking forward to finally meeting both you and Mark in Sydney next month!

When season 5 ended, you could see the show went down a little bit...but Mark added something with the boys that kept you wanting more, despite a lot of weaker stuff that had been thrown in. When they killed him off, it REALLY went downhill fast. To me, the boys, him, and Misha should have all went to the end together. They were THE stars. The four kept the foundation strong together. The human brothers, the angel, and the demon. It just made sense. When Mark appeared saying his iconic "Hello Boys," you knew it was gonna be a good episode.

Mark Sheppard played a great anti hero in supernatural at times he seemed like the bad guy and other times he helped the brothers in that show. Mark Sheppard is a great dude and hes a really good actor as well. I wish supernatural had a better send off for Crowley. The fans always had a love/hate relationship with the character Crowley. Good episode for sure Michael Rosenbaum.

I loved Crowley and I hated how his story ended. They humanized him too much for us, finding out his origin story made us care about him too much because you understand the darkness, someone who was never loved and still desperately wanted it even as king of hell. They showed us the scared little boy who just wanted to understand why even his mother couldn't love him. His story beginning to end was so unnecessarily tragic.

I have to say, and I'm just being honest, this episode of IOY has COMPLETELY turned around my opinion on Mark Sheppard. I am a HUGE SUPERNATURAL FAN and I was always a fan of Crowley. I always loved the way he was one of the only "villain's" on the show that didn't fear Hunters in general or Sam & Dean specifically. He always stood up to them, talked down to them, called them Moose and Squirrel, and eventually ended up becoming their friend with some mutual respect. The Season 8 stuff he talks about doing with Jared in that church was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! That episode, 8*23, is in my top 5, all time fav episodes of the WHOLE SERIES. That being said, I have never been fortunate enough to have the ways and means to go to a SPN Convention in person. That's bucket list for me. So, especially since the show ended, I watch ALL the channels on KZread that regularly film and post SPNCON guest panels. That way, at least, I get to experience it in some form or fashion. (Gayled_it is one of my favs, she's very professional). Anyway, point is, over the years I have watched several of Mark Sheppard's Con panels and was always disappointed. There was a reason I HAD that opinion, but my opinion changed because of this interview with you. Please allow me to explain. I love Sam & Dean, I love Jared and Jenson's panels. They're always great, always hilarious. So, if I love Crowley, I should really enjoy Mark's panels. But, I always came away from watching him feeling like he was such a rude asshole. He came across as a very dismissive snob to the fans. To the fans asking the questions, 80% of the time he would either give them a snarky, smartass, one word answer OR not answer them at all and ignore them completely. He was always too busy running around the room talking to everybody else. Maybe 20% of the fan questions got a legitimate answer. That was irritating and frustrating to try to watch and follow along with, but I kept trying to watch because , like I said, I actually am a fan. The last straw, for me, was this one panel I saw where a fan asked a question and he flat out said, to that person, IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CROWD, "No, I don't like that question, I'm not going to answer that". WTF??? On one hand, OF COURSE, if he doesn't want to answer a question, he doesn't have to. Maybe it's a question he's heard a thousand times at a thousand other conventions and he doesn't want to answer it again. But, on the OTHER hand, these people paid their hard earned money to buy a Con ticket ($$), to travel across the country ($$$), pay for a hotel room for a whole weekend ($$$$), just to see YOU!!!! Some of us don't have that privilege of time or money. And this is how you treat people that are supposed to be your FANS?? 😡😠🤬 What went through my head, at the time, was "Does he not realize how hard it is for somebody with social anxiety to get up and stand at a microphone, in front of a big auditorium full of people, AND be brave enough to get their vocal cords to function properly, just long enough to ask the big "STAR" a question? And then he looks down his nose at them and says 'I'm not going to answer'????☠💩 Well, after that I DID NOT have a very high opinion of Mr. Sheppard. If I had been that person at that convention and he did that to me, I would have been HORRIFIED. I would have wanted to drop into a hole in the floor, left immediately, crawled back to my hotel room and cried myself to sleep. And I have never watched a Mark Sheppard panel since. BUT, and that's a big BUT, I am also a Smallville/ Lex fan, and I really enjoy this YT channel/show. I'm not sure why, but I've always found fascination with seeing actors/singers/performers as real people. Who are they when they're not "ON STAGE", when they're at home in their PJ's on a Friday night, you know? When they're NOT doing whatever it is they do for a living. Like when you're a little kid, and you're at the grocery store with your mom, and you run into your teacher from school and they're wearing sweats and a t-shirt. You almost don't recognize them. That's why I enjoy interview shows similar to this one where the actor is behind the scenes and real and human. So, when I saw this week's guest was Mark Sheppard, I started to skip this episode. I have watched your episodes with Jared, Jenson and Misha probably 100 times apiece, and loved every minute of them. My thought going in was "Let's see what happens when you PIN this jerk down, make him sit on a couch, trapped in the corner and ask him questions face to face." SO, I watched, and listened, and learned something that I didn't know would change my POV. Now, I think I need to go back and rewatch all of Mark Sheppard's panel videos, because maybe I misjudged and was looking at it the wrong way. When Mark Sheppard (actor) is on camera (tv, movies, or THIS VIDEO HERE) he's brilliantly talented. But, when Mark (the regular guy) is on camera and at a fan convention, he's awful. But that's just because of the limited camera coverage at a fan convention. Their only able to capture the questions asked AT the microphones and the responses to those questions. The reason he walks around the crowd talking to everybody is NOT because he's trying to distract himself from the stupid fans and their boring questions, but because he's trying to talk to EVERYBODY, interact with the WHOLE room, not JUST the people at the microphones. Which must be AMAZING for the people in the crowd, but does little to satisfy the people who aren't there in the room on the day. He's one of those people that's better LIVE..... maybe I'll get the chance one day 😊 But in the meantime, THANK you for this. 👍💜💖💯

I watched the first 6 seasons of Supernatural. I didn't continue because it just seemed like the storyline had run its course. I loved this actor as the demon character. He was great!! I was amazed the show went on for so many years. Amazed by how long the show ran. It was very intense and dark. Loved it, but burned out every six. I heard it went a different direction.

Yeah, it became a weak comedy like Lois and Clark if you remember that far back. Mark did become a highlight of the show though. If you liked it intense and dark then I wouldn't pick it up again, but you might like to look at Eric Kripke's new show "The Boys" for a dark take on superheroes would be like in the real world.

I LOVED this interview. I don’t know why but I’m pleasantly surprised with how nice and genuine of a person Mark Sheppard is. He’s always seemed nice, but it’s nice to have it confirmed. This was such an interesting interview. I could listen to his stories all day. I wish he would go back to the conventions since the show is over and there shouldn’t be anymore awkward situations. I’m so disappointed they did Mark so dirty on SPN. I know he wanted to go because his character wasn’t going anywhere, but it was still a shitty thing for them to do. Keep up the great work Michael! 💙💙
