It's aged well, but I don't think it's the best thing they've done. Some of the lyrics are a bit clumsy ("The Night I Fell In Love", in particular).

Nice presentation Mark,I’m a Pet shop boys fun since 1987 and i believe Neil and Chris are one of the few artists that always keep the standards high.My favourite album is “Actually” followed by “Behaviour”, “Please” and “Introspective”.Their imperial phase was really awesome.

Very is by far the most sensational Petshop Boys album by far (imo); a a sophisticated master-assemblage of flamboyance, theatrical whimsy, soulfulness, and a dynamic yearning for optimism. My second favourite is Introspective, followed by Yes.

For me ranking PSB albums is so hard (what a great song!), because there are only a few of their songs that I don't like. This video made me think and as a result my top three albums are Behaviour, Actually and Please. I would say I love these the most, but I love the others as well. Behaviour is an amazing piece of work with a comforting autumn feel. Actually has awesome songs, and to me Please is one of the best debut albums of all time. From their live shows I like Performance the most - it's so grandiose and unique. My second favourite is the Pandemonium show, because it's very joyful and optimistic, and I really like the stage design and the dancers too. And Neil has so great outfits, and Chris has his mirror jacket :) What do you think about the Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall? I enjoyed it very much, the orchestra added so much to the songs - which seems to be a paradox, because they are masterpieces without orchestral arrangement as well. I also liked the Alan Turing piece, the music works so well with the accompanying text.

I loved the Teenage Cancer Trust show - it felt like an Elysium Tour show with an orchestra 5 years later, because it shared a large number of songs (and orchestration) with the 2012 BBC Show. I will also mention the Alan Turing work soon. Performance was really good BUT very strange, it was my first time seeing them, and I was at the show that was filmed in Birmingham, and I was 17 so was very new to seeing bands. It wasn't as much of a shock as if I had seen it now, for example.

I like a lot this ranking and the way you present it. Also the fact that you have so much stuff. I have almost as much as you do but you surprised me with some great items I don't have. I must disagree about one thing, that you put Alternative so low in the ranking. How on Earth can Electric, Concrete, Yes or HotSpot be above Alternative in the ranking!? I understand you wanna listen to music that describes the moment it was released, but, the quality,... the quality of the songs in Electric or Yes (even being splendid albums both) is just way way lower compared to Alternative!! Very is the best album on the history of mankind, but I'm okey with you putting it in the 3rd place. At least it's in your top 3. My top 3 is actually yours but inverted: 1) Very, 2) Behaviour, 3) Actually I subscribe to your channel, you seem an honest guy, and that is what I like the most. Great video.

Lots of good thoughts in your comment. Alternative is very, very, very good (but, there's always a but!) it doesn't quite hang together as an album. And it has "The Sound Of The Atom Splitting", which I don't like. I'm also rating these by the standard of other PSB LP's. Alternative is, I think, better than 99% of bands entire careers. And since PSB are - in my opinion - the finest songwriting duo of all time [better than Lennon/McCartney] that's a very very high bar to reach. I experienced Alternative not as an album, but one B-side at a time, so maybe that could be part of it? M

Pet Shop Boys mainstream popularity started to decline with the 1988 hit Domino Dancing (as it was seemed very homoerotic (I speak as a straight pet shop boys fan) firstly i didn’t like it simply because it wasn’t anywhere near as good as previous singles that they had released) secondly the world in 1988 isn’t what it is today and I think they were being very daring. Europe and Britain loves it gay pop stars but America does not.
