Not a West Ham supporter but this was moving. Always respected Mark Noble and you can just feel what it meant to him - incredible.
I went to school with Mark and was a year below him. Even then he was already well known as such a talented footballer. We went on a school trip to Netherlands once and every morning he would challenge me at table tennis in the hotel. I happened to have beaten him on the first day so every day after he would want to beat me back. Was a very nice guy and competitive from the beginning.

Love that United is his second team, I would’ve been a West Ham fan if not for United so he’s the opposite to what I am, what a player he was and an prem icon ❤

Being a West Ham fan, I was at his last home game against City and it was fitting that we drew that game 2-2 and deserved to win. It was both the most emotional and the best day I have ever spent at a West Ham game. Being 15, and a massive fan of West Ham, he was one of a few constants in my life, one thing that I knew was always there and kept a bit of consistency to my life. It’s crazy how that happens. A player that I have never met and absolutely love and he honestly had the power to control my life - had he not played, I guess I felt a bit different that week when looking back at it. Legend of the game.
They don't make footballers like noble anymore, what a lad! going to miss seeing him giving the club all he can on the pitch!! Keep blowing bubbles mark keep blowing bubbles!
By far my favourite pod. Being a West Ham fan myself this one really meant alot to me, I still made the correct choice getting noble on my first West Ham t-shirt when I was 6, he never left us❤️

As a life long United supporter I would have taken Mark Noble at United in a heartbeat. A leader on the pitch, seems a great character, a reliable performer, there really is little downside to a player like that. Sometimes that reliability is just as important as talent.
So happy noble was one here, great man thank you happy hour for the podcast

I’m sure we (Sunderland) nearly signed him when we had Roy Keane as manager. Noble ended up keeping the #16 because of his admiration of Keane, if I recall.
I miss him
People love to praise Noble for his loyalty but the reason why he never moved was because he was just an average player. That’s not me insulting him because he was always good enough to play for a middle of the road PL club but never good enough to get a move to a better club than West Ham. If you think if he was a real quality player and he still would have never moved you’re kidding yourself

Nobes is such a legend
One of the best compliments I think can be given to Mark is that I feel like it’s a unanimous belief from non West Ham fans that he deserved several England caps. He will be the best player to never get a cap for England for a long long long time. That’s being said from a Newcastle fan.

The most Loyall player West Ham EVER had ! what about Bobby Moore , Trevor Brooking , Geoff Hurst , Stevie Potts , Vic Watson , Billy Bonds 27 years player and Manager , Alvin Martin , Ray Stewart Big Phil Parkes ?
Bobby Moore was a West Ham legend but tried to leave on many an occasion. I'd rank Mark alongside Sir Trevor Brooking in that neither ever tried to move
I feel a bit divided over the "Noble is an icon" thing because it's difficult to judge who is and isn't a legend in real time. However, if you look at the all-time appearances list, it becomes pretty glaring that players don't stay at West Ham for a large chunk of their career anymore. The only person in the top 30 to have played a single game in this century is the previous "Mr West Ham," Steve Potts. Cresswell is the longest-tenured current player and he has over 300 games.
If he didn’t injure his back at Hull he would have stayed there
He could’ve been respected in the Irish national team, but he chose to be unappreciated like most players who choose England do

Mark Noble is an all time great Hammer, a legend in every sense of the word and the type of servant to a club that is incredibly rare to find. But he's not the 2nd most iconic West Ham player, for me anyway. I have him 8th; 1. Bobby Moore 2. Paolo Di Canio 3. Geoff Hurst 4. Billy Bonds 5. Trevor Brooking 6. Alan Devonshire 7. Alvin Martin 8. Mark Noble.

@@el_hamez these are players that also spent the vast majority of their careers at West Ham, but unlike Noble were England internationals, won a trophy and were part of the greatest and most highly revered team in West Ham's history. Why are they not more iconic, other than being older?
@el_hamez
Жыл бұрын
@@kb5509 its clearly not because they're older because all the others are as well but id still put them above. Maybe its because they're older that you like them more? Noble never got an england cap but thats 1. Unlucky because he really ought to have in his prime and 2. Not what makes an iconic west ham player. Its about the passion, loyalty and heart he has for west ham, not england. Di Canio didnt get an england cap either 😂
@kb5509
Жыл бұрын
@@el_hamez it isn't, it's simply because if them having done more. Noble never deserved an England cap, he was a good Premier League player that was just short of top quality. And when you consider it was harder for English players to get one in the 80s it only strengthens my argument. Your point about Di Canio only shows you're not undermining any sensible argument. I'm not judging every player on playing for England. I'm judging the English players on playing for England. And the ones that got numerous caps, in a time where it was harder to do so, won a major trophy, played just as long and were major players in the best ever West Ham team that challenged for the title are clearly more iconic.
@el_hamez
Жыл бұрын
@@kb5509 firstly, the di canio comment was a joke to lighten the mood, secondly he DID deserve a cap, they picked him over danny drinkwater... If noble was around in the 80s he would've done serious damage in top flight football. Only 2 people were named "mr west ham" bobby moore and mark noble, if that doesn't mean hes iconic enough idk what is.
