One of the most intelligent and amazing musicians of all time. Long live Mark!
This album kind if snuck up on me. The more I listened to it the more it gripped me. It takes you down the road and reminds you of the humility of life. The Ragpicker's Dream, Quality Shoe and The Place Where We Used To Live, the longing for a decent life, a place to live and respect. Mark makes a book out of his lyrics and music and gives us a good read. Thank you, for sharing with the world.

I was always wondering how to explain this album. Words never came to me. You've precisely explained the way I feel about it. Listening since 2015...
One of the few, true musical geniuses left in the world!

Mark, you are a treasure.
Why aye Man, Markie, ya keep playing aye !!!
A place where we used to live is such a beautiful song...
I left home at 17 and hitched all over the country for several years. Living rough and day labor places for a recharge. In my latter years music from the days, from the Carter Family, Waylon, Kris, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie, Emmylou and a well rounded fellow named Mark Knopler, many others too. I think of the kindness of strangers, and the sense to get away from a few rides that did not feel right. Still look for new music, as I feel God uses man's eccentricities for His opportunities. Keep on playing, we need troubadours more than ever.
You are the best song/music writer on this Planet.
What a poet. I love the crow's feet that show up when he smiles.
He' s so handsome, intelligent ... I love his guittar and his songs ! 🥰♥️🎸
The guitar solo at the end of _You Don’t Know You’re Born_ is one of the finest Piece of Music ever written - and played
Ragpicker's Dream and Sailing to Philadelphia CD's are a permanent choice in my CD changer.
Man, what a smooth mellow dulcet voice
I am completely mesmerized by this person: great musician, magnificent guitarist, wonderful composer and a good man! A unique human being, mainly because of his humility before the star he is! ❤️🎸❤️
This man just sends me... I’ve been places I could have never gone through the years without his indescribable gift.
You have got it, you have to love and enjoy what you do, which enables others to see the passion in your music.
I like these Mark....some might find them boring but I can get lost in listening to you speak about your music...you have such a passion about them...it is very inspiring

Thank you so very much Mark for sharing The Ragpicker's Dream - A Documentary with us. It certainly tugs at the ole heart strings and is certainly thought provoking, and in an odd way, comforting, in that one can identify with. Great job Mark and again, thank you. Will.

We are both Artists, You and I, Mark. You with your fantastic music and songwriting, and me with my photography. Please never give up. You weave a great story in your songs, and I try to do the same through my photography. Although I think you have the jump on me with your music! I would love to be able to do a photoshoot with you, but I guess that will just be a pipe dream, although that won't stop me listening to your music on KZread. Take care Mark.
You are a sensation to me Pick

Gina 1965 Like a really good bottle of wine - more complex, more developed flavours and tones, settled into it's own path. What a great guy and consummate artist.

Oh yeah Gina! Even as a shallow 20-something Dire Straits fan I always had a crush on Mark, not classically "good looking" but very sexy! (I am even allowed to say that these days? If not, whoops!)

I do love my Daddy
Lyrics: When Jack Frost came for Christmas With a brass monkey date The rail-king and the scarecrow Hopped a Florida freight And they blew on their paper cups And stared through the steam Then they drank half a bottle Of Ragpicker's Dream Where the whiskey keeps following Cold pitchers of beer Me and my associate Like the clientele here get The onions and the 'taters Rib-eyes on the grill Toothpicks and luckies And a coffee refill As the rail-king lay rocking He was leaving the ground Then he was flying like Santa Claus Over the town where He came to the window Of a house by a stream It was a family Christmas In the Ragpicker's Dream There were kids at the table All aglow in the light Music in the wintertime Sure carries at night there Was turkey and gravy Pie and ice cream And gifts for each and everyone In the Ragpicker's Dream Where the red-eye keeps tumbling In our glasses of beer Me and my associate Like the service in here there's A ten for your trouble You have beautiful hair Make the last one two doubles It's a cold one out there Where the scarecrow and the rail-king Have started to dance But a nightstick and a billyclub Won't give peace a chance here I think they went thataways Your song and dance team Heading home for the holidays With the Ragpicker's Dream On his knees like a fighter The rail-riding king Like a sack of potatoes Like a bull in the ring where The scarecrow falls over With a tear in the seam Home for the rover In the Ragpicker's Dream Where the red-eye keeps tumbling Like tears in our beer Me and my associate Like the ambience here where They cornered two castaways In a white flashlight beam Merry Christmas and happy days In the Ragpicker's Dream
