The joy of Dire Straits was the music, a collaborative effort, but more than that, by Mark's extraordinary lyrics. As we all know, he is still creating brilliant work.

You know. Mark Knopfler´s lead and leadership was not the problem. The problem was the whole music establishment of the USA in the 80s, pushing Dire Straits to tour too much and play too many concerts. If there was any humility, the music scene would recognized one of the greatest bands of all times, without destroying it. I just hope we can see bands like Dire Straits rise again.

DS was a line-up to good musicians who had the chance to know Mark...He's still being DS... His fabulous lyrics are personals memories...personals expériences of joy and pain, love, hate, youth, old age, parents, childrens...everything a man goes through in a lifetime...but more, his own vision of humans tricks like....wars. For the music...he created a personnal and unique style of playing guitar, a new way of playing greats rhythms parts, a personnal guitar sound... He is a real technician and awsome virtuoso. In short, I thinck that all bands who are playing "Dire Straits Tribute"... even...Alan Clark, Chris White. Phil Palmer...all these guys are using personnals memories and privacy thoughts of Mark to try to get little parts of sandwitches that Dire Straits is and will always be financially speaking. But everything that Dire Straits allowed him to express as a huge artist is very personal and I find it so unatural, disrespectful and unhealthy to use all this fabulous artistic material, which belongs only to Mark. All that to collect a semblance of completely bogus success and these musicians simply show their lack of artistic creativity and their dark side ... that of being only musicians attracted to money. For me, only Mark has the legitimate right to speak about his life in song by offering us all concerts where his presence is simply essential ... Because all the songs of Dire Straits are signed MK ... and only MK .. .yes ... just a duet with Sting ...

I'm actually a huge Dire Straits/MK fan with a sense of humor who hates both U2 and Radiohead.
