No probs. I miss Heartbeat but I don't miss the later series as I much prefer the earlier Nick Berry and Greengrass era.

@@WeeguyWeeguy Pity they are cut on ITV3 though, well the earlier episodes have been cut from, and I know it's expected with the earlier eps having some mild language and violence but there was one ep from series 3 where they cut out the bit where an elderly lady died in her sleep (I assume that's why they cut it), they probably think people are gonna be complain lol. Good thing is that the DVD versions are on youtube. Goathland is great (not been for years) and Whitby is a great place too full of character.

Scary man was Derek, even more so in Heartbeat, he could crack a stone with that voice and stare.

@@davidhampshire8632 Pity the TV channels we have never seem to show any other TV shows he appeared in except Yes Minister/Prime Minister; you think of Derek Fowlds and it's either Yes Minister or Heartbeat, and Basil Brush, and that's pretty much, his other TV work seems to have been forgotten about. The freeview channels are full of repeats of the same stuff like Summer Wine, Allo Allo, Midsomer Murders and so on, they never show anything else.

Yeah me too, No probs, there will be more Heartbeat interviews to come once I've managed to get a decent capture from my VHS recorder to my laptop. I was gonna upload an interview with Bill Maynard on GMTV from 1994 but the recording is very jumpy so will have to stabilise it somehow, and also there's another interview with Bill in late 2000 after he left the show, aswell as a behind the scenes look with Nick Berry in Canada after leaving Heartbeat...oh, and the first part from this GMTV Heartbeat special where they visit the set of the Xmas 96 episode, which strangely they say it was filmed in October (Oct 95 I presume) which meant the episode took about 14 months to air on TV, that can't be right surely. Episodes normally take around 5 months to be broadcast.

Just watched a 1998 video where Claudia Winkleman talks about the filming of the series where they used a studio set, and one of the comments says that Juliette Gruber who played teacher Jo Weston is related to the late American actor Walter Matthau. I've never heard that one before.

Hey yeah, never thought about that until you mentioned it, it is a pity and abit strange he was never interviewed on this Heartbeat special; they could've brought him on with Derek and Mark. Maybe he didn't want to go on the show.

I was 6 when this was out. Our telly only had 5 channels so the soaps were a regular thing in our house. Heartbeat on a Sunday at 8 I think it was. Used to go round my grandmas for tea every Sunday and that was the last soap on before leaving to go home. Most the actors are dead now. Makes me feel old as dick

The fifth channel was launched in March 1997 (channel 5), by that point Heartbeat was in it' 7th series (or "season" that most people call them, why I don't know unless you're American lol). Yeah watched every single series, more the Nick Rowan and Greengrass years, proper TV. It's strange I don't know anyone apart from myself and my late father who watched or was a fan of Heartbeat, which is abit strange. I don't the show has only caught relatively recently because it's being repeated alot and you can watch eps on youtube, most of the fans of the show seem be from overseas like Sweden, why I don't know, HB never been appealed to many people in the UK unless you were over a certain age like 60 lol. I think it became an old peoples series like Midsomer Murders, which I can't stand and it baffles me how that is still being made (22 series so far). I don't get the appeal with Midsomer Murders.

Does anyone know why none of the channels (not sure about UKGold) ever show any of the TV series Derek Fowld's appeared in except Yes Minster/Yes Prime Minister?. There was a series in the mid 80s he starred in called Affairs of the Heart, yet I've never seen this repeated. Why do the channels repeat the same tired shows all the time?. Is this just down to the broadcaster not wanting to pay royalties or is there some other reason?. Also, Nick Berry starred in a one-off drama in 1996 playing a boxer, and as far as I'm aware this has never been repeated. It can't have been that bad. Also the short lived series Harbour Lights has never repeated shown on BBC1 (unlikely ever will be unless it's about box ticking and LGBTQ crap), but I think UKGold did repeat it in the late 90s/early 2000s, and it hasn't even been released on DVD.
