Hi love your posts my father used to drink with Mr Maynard many years ago he lived until a few years before he died close to my town and i met him in my local by chance what a true gent.

What sold it to me was the country village atmosphere and what went on in it, and it still does I still watch the repeats over an over again there is two series that I will always watch that is "Public Eye" Private Eye Frank Marker/Alfred Burke and "Heartbeat" with so many characters a fan of all of them I recently saw a video of David Lonsdale singing his got a fantastic voice.🧐

Thank you, used to love HB & visited the area where it was filmed with my parents 😊

The highlight of my 2005 UK trip was a visit to Goathland and seeing everything I'd been watching on tv, I didn't stop smiling all day! We wanted to find where The Royal was filmed and thought it was in Whitby but it turned out the 'hospital' building was in Scarborough so we dashed off and made it just in time as daylight was fading. I still watch re-runs and have every series on dvd. It would be nice to see it return although many of the main characters are now deceased, I still think there's an audience for a series set in simpler times plus the great music that goes with it

To be fair most Americans' still believe that we live in the 60's still 😂I guess our best TV is period our drama although we do get type-cast a little in movies.

I've seen Bill Maynard some years a go he turned up at a country camp weekend ive got all 18 series of heartbeat on dvds brilliant drama collection good video upload to ok

I watch this show most nights as it was a well scripted, well acted show with very likeable characters. We have visited Goathland many times over the years. I love the show, which is more than I can say for the "Rubbish" on tv today.

Mrs H ... Loved heartbeat in fact I watch the reruns .... I only live an hour's drive away so visited a few times....Inside the pub the room/bar is really small... I even used the phone near the entrance to phone my brother...It was an old phone but it worked..

I can remember being in a pub near to where I live and Bill Maynard and his scriptwriter walked in. Two hours later he left after telling all of us all his behind the scenes happenings. We were all in stiches. I will never forget that night.

Loved Heartbeat, was beyond sad when it was cancelled. Still in love with Tricia, hated how they killed Oscar.

I have just finished the whole series, what a great show but it ended so abruptly, I was so disappointed. I am an Aussie and love anything British.

We just visited Aidensfield but we were amazed to see most of the place closed, we couldn't believe how dirty Greengrass's house was, I would clear it up and charge for teas and scones....... Why the hotel has a rope fence, i will never know.... The church was beautiful.

@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Exactly that, turn left at the church and continue up the road for about 500m, it's on the left-hand side. Did you see the British tank in the front garden as you drive along the main road?

Its almost sad to see it in 2022 with all modern cars etc. Heartbeat was one of the best TV shows if not the best. I think this whole area needs to be preserved and made into a 1960s outdoor museum.
