It was. But it was very “wrestling” when he told Cena to stay in the ring. That raised my antenna that something was up.

“I GOT A LOT LEFT IN THE TANK!!!”

That jacket needs to be in the HoF

Honestly... Been watching wrestling since 1997. That was one of my favorite moments ever. All my friends were so mad and I was crying laughing. Mark is awesome.

Henry really should of won the title after that, really poor booking that he didn't.

he completely fooled me, but my dad who doesn't even watch wrestling saw this on tv with me and instantly knew it was all a work.

Henry looked sharp in that suit and the retirement was beautiful.

To everyone that says he should have won the title, I remind you of the words of Kevin Nash: "The only thing that matters is the money and the miles." Being WWE champion comes with a whole list of requirements; you have to be willing to follow a gruelling schedule, you have to do appearances, you have to make yourself available for interviews, you have to show up and represent. At this time of his career, Mark Henry was pretty much done. If he doesn't feel that he needed to win the title, then nkr should we. The man got an unforgettable segment out of it, which serves as the cherry on the giant Sexual Chocolate cake of a career he's had.

After hearing his response in this interview, I'm at peace with it. I do believe he should've been a grand slam champion, I feel it should've happened before the Hall of Pain, but he's at peace and he's happy with it, so I'll defer to his wisdom.

Henry was savage for this. Even I believed, almost shed a tear

I consider myself pretty smart but the tears in that promo completely got me hook line and sinker it was a complete shock .

That was the best Mark Henry speech. NOTHING beats the when he broke the cage with the big show.

fantastic interview, i dont know how this doesn't have more views/ comments. This is one of my favorite moments in watching WWE over the last 20 plus years.

I used to watch WWE back then. I was fooled when he made the retirement speech..one of the best.

Great segment we all believed him at that moment.

I remember seeing that live and wow it was a moment I was shocked because Mark was so convincing that I didn't see it coming. I still say he should've won the WWE championship from Cena after that because after all that momentum Mark deserved that win in my opinion.

We all got had that night lmao but it was brilliant.

Would like to know also. He likely did know but how long did he know, the day of the fake retirement.

And now he may end up a champion in aew, I doubt it but you never know...
